Soki is about 3 years old, about 65lbs, and a husky boxer mix. She is slow to trust but once she does, you will have a dog that loves you like no other. She is a queen and with that comes some sass from her husky heritage. She can carry on a conversation and loves to sit on the dining table chairs when doing so. I have had many dogs doing rescue and none can match her personality or devotion. She is not the best with cats and can be dog selective. Does not do well with bossy dogs.

I was surrendered to the pound after multiple incidents of me and the other dogs I lived with running at large and causing issues in our neighborhood. We are all good dogs, but we haven't been well trained, so we will need a little work on things like basic recall and basic commands. We were all house dogs and we appear to be housebroken. We do well with most other dogs, but definitely will need a families without cats as we do not do well with them. We all love to play and we are super good dogs once we have had our exercise. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. Brewski Baby!!! Brewski came into the A.M.O.R. rescue while still in the womb of his Siberian Husky momma! His momma was an owner surrender in another rescue and was adopted. But then it was realized that momma was pregnant. And was two weeks away from giving birth. Momma's adopter patiently waited for 9weeks until the babies were ready and weaned from momma. Brewski is super cute and very cuddly and so sweet and very goofy.....EVERYTHING you love in a puppy! Brewski is your typical GENTLE GIANT. Yup, he is the biggest pup of his litter. But, he doesn't know that. He can also be sensitive. He is quick to let you know that he is being left out and would like to be included in whatever is going on. He does NOT want to miss out on being a part of the pack activities. But, if those pack activities become too much for him, you can find him sitting on the sidelines and looking on as a spectator; not interested in being a part of any crazy husky litter drama. His favorite hobby is EATING. HE LOVES FOOD!!!! He loves carrots, apples, celery, and watermelon treats. He likes an occasional cow hoof or deer antler - mostly because he is still getting used to his adult teeth. He is also learning the word NO. He understands that some things are a NO NO such as wanting to jump on my legs. He wants to please so much so that makes him a VERY FAST LEARNER to no jumping on legs. His MOST FAVORITE though is his FAMILY. He really just loves to hang with his family. He is also learning all about naps and being kenneled and potty training. He is learning that there is a schedule to the day. Wake up, and go pee and poo outside at 7:30am. Then it is play time. Then eat some breakfast kibble. Then we poop again. Then it is more play time. Back inside for a nap by 10am. Then it is outside again at 1pm for a pee/poo/play. A small snack at that time is had. And back in kennel for another nap at 3pm. Up and outside again at 6pm for pee/poo/play. Kibble Dinner is at 6:30pm. Lots of hard puppy playing happens from 6:30-8:30pm. He loves to run up to you and quickly stops to hand you his paw and sits on his haunches....FOR HUGS AND BELLY RUBS!!!! The last nap of day happens from 8-10pm. And then the last pee/poo/play break happens from 10-11pm. Bedtime is 11pm. Brewski sleeps the whole night through and no longer makes a mess in his kennel. If he ever needs to potty while in his kennel, he is quick to whine and bark a bit to let us know that he has to potty and needs out SOOOOON!!! He is a very SMART boy to know that we don't pee/poo where we sleep! But, as a puppy, he will still need training in this aspect for the first year of his life. Another point that Brewski is familiar with is leash walking. Upon exit of his kennel, he is leashed and then walked to backdoor. He is familiar with what is being asked of him but is not proficient in long leashed walks. His family will need to understand and work with him on this item. The following is a list of what has been done for him... NEUTERED All 4 - DA2PP shots (Distemper, Adenovirus Type 2 (Hepatitis), Parvo, and Parainfluenza) Bordatella shot Bordatella booster 6months later Rabies shot Dewormed Tested, Treated (if needed), and retested for giardia and coccidia Heartworm negative Iverhart heartworm preventative Simparica fleas and ticks preventative Chipped There are two categories of vaccines: “core” vaccines that are recommended for all pets, and “non-core vaccines” which may be recommended by your vet based on lifestyle and exposure risk. The core vaccine for dogs is the Rabies vaccine, which is required by law. The second core vaccine for dogs is often referred to as the DA2PP or DHPP vaccine. This stands for “Distemper, Adenovirus Type 2 (Hepatitis), Parvo, and Parainfluenza”, meaning that this vaccine protects against FOUR different diseases. It is especially important for puppies to begin a series of DA2PP vaccines at six to eight weeks of age, as natural immunity obtained from the mother decreases and puppies become very susceptible to potentially life-threatening diseases such as Canine Parvovirus (Parvo). Parvo is transmitted through feces and can remain in the environment for at least one month, and up to a year if the conditions are right. This means that puppies do not need to be directly exposed to another dog that has Parvo in order to contract the disease, and caution is advised when choosing where and how to socialize and exercise your pup. We recommend avoiding exposure to unknown dogs or public places until your puppy has finished their vaccine series. BUT, all A.M.O.R. puppies (1 year old and less) have all FOUR shots. They are safe to join you and your family on your outdoor adventures and you can rest at ease. Non-core vaccines for dogs include Bordetella, Influenza, Leptospirosis and Lyme. The Bordetella (aka: Kennel Cough) help to prevent highly-contagious respiratory diseases, and are essential for dogs that may be exposed to other dogs, especially in group settings such as dog parks, daycare, or boarding facilities. All A.M.O.R. dogs and puppies are given a Bordatella vaccine. Bordatella boosters are given every 6 months. https://www.thedrakecenter.com/services/dogs/parasites/deworming-dogs The above link is to provide you information regarding why deworming is so important for all dogs of all ages (and for their families). All A.M.O.R.s are dewormed upon entering the rescue and then again 5 days before their health certificate visit (when they have been adopted and ready to travel). This dewormer is issued per our vet. And all pets are tested, treated (if needed), and retested for coccidia and giardia. A.M.O.R. provides you with this information so that you can be aware of the work and love that is given to each pet. Each puppy has visited the vet AT LEAST 5 times during their stay with us. They have seen the vet 4 times for their shots and will see the vet 1-2 more times prior to transport in order to obtain a health certificate for travel. Adult dogs have seen the vet AT LEAST 3 times. Two visits for their shots and 1-2 visits prior to transport in order to obtain a health certificate.
