When he first arrived, I thought he was much older and that he would be a hospice case. He was stiff and frozen in fear and skinny. He would barely move. I put him in a kennel with younger dogs and he soon found his youthful spirit again and is like a different dog now. I don't know his age for sure but he has lots of life and happiness left in him and I think he is younger than 8. He weighs about 60 lbs now. He learned how to climb out of the 6 ft chain link kennel but he doesn't stray far from it except to follow me on walks. He goes down the pond to take a dip but mostly just hangs out by the kennel. So while he has the skills of a husky to escape, he doesn't have the urge of a husky to run off and go explore. I don't even put him up when I leave because he doesn't go anywhere. He is great with other dogs but sometimes doesn't know how big he is so he wouldn't be good around scared little dogs. Not because he would hurt them, but because they might get scared of him. He is fine with my chihuahuas but they are very bossy and not scared of anything. For that reason, I also don't think he should be around cats. To be clear, he is not aggressive at all, he just tries to play with everything and with his size that just wouldn't work with a dog or cats that's scared of him. He is very food motivated and walks well on the leash as well. He is an awesome boy and I am glad he didn't die at the kill shelter. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) - Vermont (Brattleboro) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative). Story
I adopted Chevie in 2020 and he’s been a great dog for over 5 years. He is very friendly, playful, attentive, intelligent and has an overall great personality. With adult humans and most older children he has little to no issues, but unsure how he can interact with young children (1-5 years old) at the moment. When it comes to other dogs he can go to daycare and have no issues whatsoever, but on walks he can be reactive to certain dogs. Chevie is high energy, and because of that due to new lifestyle changes I’m currently unable to give him the life he deserves which is why I’m looking for a new home for him. I think if you have the ability to cater to his high energy needs and give him the ability to play in a yard or nearby park to get that energy out he will be an amazing dog for you/your family. I would caution making sure he can interact with children just to be sure. But overall, he would be a great addition to any home who can love him and play with him the way he deserves.

Story
She was adopted from Kuwait as a young puppy and has grown into a smart, energetic, and affectionate husky. She is curious, playful, and thrives with structure and activity. After coming to the U.S., she adjusted well to home life and enjoys companionship and being part of a routine. Unfortunately, due to an unexpected job loss and an upcoming move, we are no longer able to provide the stable housing and space she needs. We have been actively trying to find the right home for her for several weeks because our priority is making sure she goes to someone who understands the breed and can give her the time, space, and activity she deserves. She would do best with an experienced owner who enjoys an active lifestyle and understands huskies intelligence and exercise needs. This decision has been incredibly difficult, and we are committed to finding her a loving, permanent home.
