Story
Hey there, I’m Mr. Bear!I’ve been hanging out at FDHS for a few months now, and I have to say, I’m totally loving life here. Everyone around the shelter thinks I’m pretty much the best thing ever, and honestly, who could resist this big goofy smile of mine? I almost always have a wagging tail and a happy face. I’m playful, a little silly, and I LOVE attention. My favorite things are chilling with people, running around in the fenced yard, and going for walks where I can smell all the good smells. I get along great with other dogs, and I think I could probably vibe with a cat too, as long as we meet slowly and get to know each other. I might seem a little shy at first with new people, but give me a minute and a good belly rub, and you’ve got yourself a best friend for life. I’m also pretty tidy! I usually keep my kennel clean and don’t leave a mess for the morning crew. The staff says I'm a total dream boat and will make a wonderful addition to most types of family environments! I can't wait to meet my future family!**Neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs about 40 lbs**

Story
Meet Craig, the bi-eyed heartthrob of FDHS and he's definitely radiating main character energy.Craig came in as a stray and was never reclaimed, which blows our minds because this guy is suuuch a gem! He is an absolute hunk with a gorgeous coat, a perfect trot, and has a way of getting everyone to stop and stare. Our staff says he literally floats on leash. He is so well mannered you barely even notice he's there until he turns around and tries to jump up for a hug (and maybe a quick kiss or two!).It's pretty evident that Craig used to be someone's house dog. His coat looks professionally groomed and his manners are top tier. He has been nothing but sweet and easy for our staff to handle. And when he isn't showing off his Good Boy skills, you can hear him down the hallway serving full Husky drama king vibes with his silly serenades. If you couldn't tell, we are just a little obsessed with him. Craig has the looks, the charm, and the personality. He is truly the full package and then some. If you are ready to adopt a total icon, Craig is here waiting for you!**Neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention**

Story
Meet Sadie 🤍Sadie is an 8-year-old husky with the gentlest soul and the softest eyes. She was once chosen from the dog pound and loved, but when a new puppy entered her home, Sadie was the one left behind. Through it all, she’s remained exactly who she’s always been—kind, patient, and quietly hopeful that her forever family is still out there.Sadie is laid back and easygoing, the kind of dog who’s happy just being near her people. She enjoys playing outside, soaking up the fresh air, and then settling in for a good rest. And yes—she “talks” like a true husky, offering sweet little conversations that will make you smile every single day. She’s wonderful with other dogs, cats, and kids, making her the perfect fit for just about any family. Sadie isn’t asking for much—just a home where she can be cherished, included, and never overlooked again. At 8 years old, she has so much love left to give. All she needs is someone willing to give her the chance she deserves. 🐾🤍More information? Call Marion Area Humane Society at 740-389-6548 or email at manager@mahspets.org

When he first arrived, I thought he was much older and that he would be a hospice case. He was stiff and frozen in fear and skinny. He would barely move. I put him in a kennel with younger dogs and he soon found his youthful spirit again and is like a different dog now. I don't know his age for sure but he has lots of life and happiness left in him and I think he is younger than 8. He weighs about 60 lbs now. He learned how to climb out of the 6 ft chain link kennel but he doesn't stray far from it except to follow me on walks. He goes down the pond to take a dip but mostly just hangs out by the kennel. So while he has the skills of a husky to escape, he doesn't have the urge of a husky to run off and go explore. I don't even put him up when I leave because he doesn't go anywhere. He is great with other dogs but sometimes doesn't know how big he is so he wouldn't be good around scared little dogs. Not because he would hurt them, but because they might get scared of him. He is fine with my chihuahuas but they are very bossy and not scared of anything. For that reason, I also don't think he should be around cats. To be clear, he is not aggressive at all, he just tries to play with everything and with his size that just wouldn't work with a dog or cats that's scared of him. He is very food motivated and walks well on the leash as well. He is an awesome boy and I am glad he didn't die at the kill shelter. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) - Vermont (Brattleboro) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative).
