** BONDED WITH RICHIE**Charlie is a beautiful senior Husky with a spunky personality and a special connection with her best friend Richie. This bonded pair is looking for a forever home where they can stay together, sharing their golden years side by side.Charlie is a little sassy and playful, and she loves to romp around in the snow before curling up inside for a cozy cuddle with Richie. One of her cutest quirks is that she almost always carries around her "baby," a well-loved stuffed toy that she adores and loves to snuggle with. She can be a bit of a picky eater and sometimes needs a little encouragement at mealtime, but has been doing a lot better with a steady diet. Because of their age, Charlie and Richie would do best in a calm and relaxed environment. They are in great shape despite being elderly dogs and have shown no signs of having any health issues. Just a few creaky joints and some powdered sugar muzzles, there's truly a special magic to these senior dogs. If you have room in your home and heart for two pup who are full of love and personality, Charlie and Richie would be the perfect pair to share your days with.**Spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs about 45 lbs**

Story
Meet Craig, the bi-eyed heartthrob of FDHS and he's definitely radiating main character energy.Craig came in as a stray and was never reclaimed, which blows our minds because this guy is suuuch a gem! He is an absolute hunk with a gorgeous coat, a perfect trot, and has a way of getting everyone to stop and stare. Our staff says he literally floats on leash. He is so well mannered you barely even notice he's there until he turns around and tries to jump up for a hug (and maybe a quick kiss or two!).It's pretty evident that Craig used to be someone's house dog. His coat looks professionally groomed and his manners are top tier. He has been nothing but sweet and easy for our staff to handle. And when he isn't showing off his Good Boy skills, you can hear him down the hallway serving full Husky drama king vibes with his silly serenades. If you couldn't tell, we are just a little obsessed with him. Craig has the looks, the charm, and the personality. He is truly the full package and then some. If you are ready to adopt a total icon, Craig is here waiting for you!

Story
Hey there, I’m Mr. Bear!I’ve been hanging out at FDHS for a few months now, and I have to say, I’m totally loving life here. Everyone around the shelter thinks I’m pretty much the best thing ever, and honestly, who could resist this big goofy smile of mine? I almost always have a wagging tail and a happy face. I’m playful, a little silly, and I LOVE attention. My favorite things are chilling with people, running around in the fenced yard, and going for walks where I can smell all the good smells. I get along great with other dogs, and I think I could probably vibe with a cat too, as long as we meet slowly and get to know each other. I might seem a little shy at first with new people, but give me a minute and a good belly rub, and you’ve got yourself a best friend for life. I’m also pretty tidy! I usually keep my kennel clean and don’t leave a mess for the morning crew. The staff says I'm a total dream boat and will make a wonderful addition to most types of family environments! I can't wait to meet my future family!**Neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs about 40 lbs**

When he first arrived, I thought he was much older and that he would be a hospice case. He was stiff and frozen in fear and skinny. He would barely move. I put him in a kennel with younger dogs and he soon found his youthful spirit again and is like a different dog now. I don't know his age for sure but he has lots of life and happiness left in him and I think he is younger than 8. He weighs about 60 lbs now. He learned how to climb out of the 6 ft chain link kennel but he doesn't stray far from it except to follow me on walks. He goes down the pond to take a dip but mostly just hangs out by the kennel. So while he has the skills of a husky to escape, he doesn't have the urge of a husky to run off and go explore. I don't even put him up when I leave because he doesn't go anywhere. He is great with other dogs but sometimes doesn't know how big he is so he wouldn't be good around scared little dogs. Not because he would hurt them, but because they might get scared of him. He is fine with my chihuahuas but they are very bossy and not scared of anything. For that reason, I also don't think he should be around cats. To be clear, he is not aggressive at all, he just tries to play with everything and with his size that just wouldn't work with a dog or cats that's scared of him. He is very food motivated and walks well on the leash as well. He is an awesome boy and I am glad he didn't die at the kill shelter. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) - Vermont (Brattleboro) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative). Story
I adopted Chevie in 2020 and he’s been a great dog for over 5 years. He is very friendly, playful, attentive, intelligent and has an overall great personality. With adult humans and most older children he has little to no issues, but unsure how he can interact with young children (1-5 years old) at the moment. When it comes to other dogs he can go to daycare and have no issues whatsoever, but on walks he can be reactive to certain dogs. Chevie is high energy, and because of that due to new lifestyle changes I’m currently unable to give him the life he deserves which is why I’m looking for a new home for him. I think if you have the ability to cater to his high energy needs and give him the ability to play in a yard or nearby park to get that energy out he will be an amazing dog for you/your family. I would caution making sure he can interact with children just to be sure. But overall, he would be a great addition to any home who can love him and play with him the way he deserves.
