Story
Meet Kaine! He is a sweet, adventurous young boy. He is timid at first, a bit nervous of new people but when he's comfortable his true personality shines through. Kaine loves to play fetch in the yard, and enjoys zooming around. He is a highly intelligent boy, and is super trainable. He may have some silly puppy moments but is easily redirected with treats and positive reinforcement. Kaine enjoys the company of other canine companions, and plays very nicely with all of the dogs he has interacted with in the shelter. That being said, he would do best in a house with either one female dog or by himself. He has not had any interaction with cats.Kaine has been microchipped, neutered, and is up to date on vaccinations. If you are interested in adopting Kaine, please call 705-878-4618 or email info@hskl.ca

Story
Meet Jack!Jack is a goofy, energetic boy who loves to play! He is very shy at first, but he comes around quickly and has lots of love to give. Jack loves other dogs, and they really help to bring him out of his shell. His favourite pastimes are playing outside with the shelter volunteers and greeting the public at the front desk, where he enjoys giving the staff hugs while they work. While he doesn't know any tricks yet, Jack is eager to learn! He walks well on a leash and is able to entertain himself when he does not actively have a playmate. Jack would do well in any home that can meet his exercise needs, although due to his timidness with new people he would likely enjoy older kids who can respect any boundaries that he may give them.Jack has been neutered, had his rabies vaccine and is up to date on his other vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting Jack, call 705-878-4618 or email @hskl.ca

Story
Introducing Dijon Ketchup, the most magnificent, fanciest husky. Think of him as the Grey Poupon of dogs! This fluffy, puffy boy is up for any adventure you may have in mind! He loves human companions and wants to be around you all the time. Get ready for tons of cozy snuggles! Dijon Ketchup also LOVES spending time in the great outdoors, getting some good exercise. Dijon Ketchup was previously adopted, but was unfortunately returned due to his size and strength (he has a strong drive to meet any and everything on his walks.) However, if you have experience with huskies and can handle his strength, he may just be the perfect match! In any case, we hope his next home is his best home.Typical of the breed, Dijon Ketchup has a lot of coat that should be brushed regularly to keep him looking prim and proper. Some miht say he`s on the extra-fluffy side, even for a husky! If you are interested in adopting Dijon Ketchup, please contact our East shelter at 416-338-PAWS (7297) to learn more about our adoption process and book a time to meet him. Our phone lines are open between 10:30am and 6:30pm, 7 days a week.Dijon Ketchup looks forward to meeting you!**PLEASE NOTE: potential adopters should be available to schedule an appointment to meet the animal they are interested in within 24 hours of submitting an application. Thanks for your understanding!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ASHOKA comes from a Northern Manitoba community and came south with his brother (Alaric) to find their family. He’s had his first vaccine, a microchip and been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. His breed is a guess as is the size he’ll grow to be as we have no knowledge on his parents. He’s a very social, playful, little guy who’s curious about this world around him. He loves to play with his toys and chase a ball around. Crinkle toys seem to his favourite to play with and excitedly run around with.  ASHOKA is crate trained and will sleep soundly through the night in there and he’ll wait patiently in the morning until he’s taken out for his bathroom break. He has just started to wear a harness and leash and go for short walks on the grass. He loves exploring and finding leaves and sticks to chew on, the odd stone too if you don’t watch out. His housetraining is a work in progress but he does use a pee pad kept in front of a door.  ASHOKA would love his family to be an active one to take him on lots of walks and hiking on the trails. He travels well in a vehicle and will always be ready for an adventure or two. He’s met a cat and isn’t too curious about him so with a slow monitored introduction he should be fine with one in his new home. He is very social and loves people as well as other dogs he’s met. He already working on his manners and sits for his meals and takes treats “gentle.” He’s met children but we do recommend they be 6 and up as well as kind and caring towards a puppy. He also requires a fully fenced yard for him to play in and to kept safe.   Puppies are fun and cute but also require a lot of work, patience and dedication to training. We need his adopter to be in agreement to sign him up for obedience/puppy training in order to adopt him.  His neuter is included in his adoption fee and will be performed by the time he’s 8 months old or reaches 60lbs (whichever comes first.) We also need his adopter to be in agreement with this as part of our rescue policy and his adoption agreement. If you are in agreement with the above and ASHOKA sounds like the guy for you then please complete the application in order to meet him.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 25, 2024, 5:50 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.OLYMPIAS hails from Summer Beaver in Manitoba and came south with her sister (ZENOBIA) to find their new family. She’s had her first set of puppy vaccines, a microchip and been deemed a healthy girl by the vet. We’re not sure if she’s a full Husky or the weight she’ll grow to be, we are getting her mum into the rescue within the next week though, so will then have more of an idea of her what her weight could be. OLYMPIAS is ALL Husky! From crying when she gets her nail trimmed, to climbing over her X-pen, to being chatty and even her energy level. Saying all that though, she’s super loving and so smart. She already sits for her meals and takes her treats “gentle.” She sleeps soundly in her crate at night and has been waking up around 6:30am. She does fuss when she first goes in but soon settles down. She loves to chew on rubber toys, have snuggles and curl up in a cozy dog bed.  OLYMPIAS is looking for a very active family who will take her on walks, hikes and lots of adventures. They must have Husky experience and realize the energy they will have to put into making sure her exercise needs are met. A fenced yard is a must and children should be aged 6 and up and be caring, loving and gentle to animals. Puppies are fun and cute but also require a lot of patience and dedication to training. We need her adopter to be in agreement to sign her up for obedience/puppy training in order to adopt her.  Her spay is included in her adoption fee and will be performed at 6 months of age and we also need her adopter to be in agreement with this as per our rescue agreement and in order to adopt her.  If you would like to meet OLYMPIAS then please complete the adoption application to to do so.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 25, 2024, 5:50 pm
