Story
Luna is a chill but spunky senior girl. She was surrendered to us due to some medical complications that have since been resolved. She likes to bask in the sun, and also enjoys relaxing in the snow. She truly loves to be outside enjoying the fresh air. Luna is a vocal girl who likes to howl and "talk" to her people. She makes us laugh every day with her bossy quirks .Luna is looking for a quiet home. She can be protective of her space occasionally, and will need time to slowly warm up to new people. Luna's family would need to come to Dog Tales for frequent visits before bringing her home, in order to help her transition to her new family. An experienced adopter with no dogs or children is Luna's ideal family.

Story
Cosmo is a handsome husky mix just over a year old, bursting with personality and ready to find a home that can keep up with his fun-loving spirit. He is an affectionate, people-focused boy who thrives on connection and loves being part of the action with his humans. Cosmo already has a solid training foundation and continues to learn every day. He knows sit, down, off, come, and leave it, and is working on polishing his manners with consistency and positive reinforcement. He enjoys leashed walks and is generally unfazed by his surroundings, even if his path includes some enthusiastic zig-zagging as he takes everything in. He rides well in the car and settles nicely indoors, where he shows his calmer side by chewing on his favourite rope toy, tossing around his pink pig stuffy, and happily snoozing after playtime. Like many young dogs, Cosmo has plenty of energy and sometimes forgets just how bouncy he can be. He loves to play with other dogs and can be enthusiastic about it, but he has shown good social awareness by responding appropriately when another dog sets boundaries. He has done well with a variety of dogs of different sizes and ages, and even spent a weekend with several dogs successfully. He is also doing well with the resident cat, showing curiosity without signs of prey drive. Cosmo has not yet lived with children in his foster home, but with his playful, puppy-like energy, he may do well with dog-savvy kids who are ready to help guide him with training, clear boundaries, and lots of positive reinforcement. Crate training is a work in progress. Cosmo will go into his crate willingly and is improving steadily, though he may vocalize briefly as he settles in, especially at night. Cosmo forms strong attachments to his people and can show some separation anxiety. He will thrive in a home committed to ongoing bonding, confidence building, and positive reinforcement training to help him feel secure and settled. Cosmo would thrive in an active home that enjoys training, playtime, and daily outlets for his energy. A family committed to continuing his training and helping him mature into his best self will be rewarded with a loyal, affectionate companion. He would likely do well with another playful dog who enjoys interaction, or as a solo dog with plenty of human engagement and enrichment. At the end of the day, Cosmos favourite place is right beside his people. He is a sweet, gentle boy at heart who loves treats, companionship, and feeling included. With structure, patience, and plenty of love, Cosmo will grow into a wonderful lifelong companion. Our adoption fees cover all up to date veterinary needs, including but not limited to: full veterinary examination, age appropriate vaccinations, fecal test and parasite prevention, wellness bloodwork, spay or neuter, and microchip. All dogs will be started on a 6 week trial of pet insurance after adoption. Local adopters can take advantage of 50% off a training course at Ruff Haus in Barrie (www.ruffhaus.ca) and all adopters will also be signed up for Petcademy to offer 30 days of free text-based behavioural support. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.LOVEY DOVEY hails from the Northern community of Sandy Lake and came south with her two sisters, Honey Bunch and Sweetie Pie and they’re named the Valentine Trio. She’s now looking to find her forever home. She’s received her first two sets of vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and has been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We really don’t know the size she’ll grow to be as we have no information on either parent. The same can be said about the breeds we’ve stated as we just go by what she looks like. There is a picture of her with her 2 siblings and they look to be Lab mixes but that’s just a guess. She’s the smallest one in the litter and she loves to cuddle and sleep in her foster’s lap. As much as she loves her sisters and playing with them she will wander off and do her own thing too. She’s the observant one in the litter and will sit back to observe what the other two are up to. She’s currently teething so she has lots of chew toys including Nyla bones to keep her little teeth busy.  LOVEY DOVEY’s crate trained and sleeps quietly in it at night and will also nap in it during the day too. House training is a work in progress still and that’s mainly due to the very cold weather. When she’s taken outside for a bathroom break she simply turns around and wants back in the house again. She is working on it though but in the meantime she uses pee pads in the home. She’s only just started to go for short walks and like all puppies she’ll excitedly race ahead of you. She enjoys her food and has just been introduced to treats which she also loves. She does have good manners and will “sit” for her meals and also take her treats “gentle.” LOVEY DOVEY’s ideal family has to have Husky experience as although she’s a very gentle girl right now, the older she gets the more challenging she’ll become. They should also be an active one that loves the outdoors as we know once she’s a bigger girl she’ll love to be outside and want to be adventurous and go on hikes and long walks on the trails. She does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive and especially if it leads to an adventure for her. There’s no other dog (than her sisters) in her foster home so if there is one in her new home they should be gentle and calm. It’s recommended that a slow introduction be made between them as well and the dog kept leashed for the first initial introductions. She should do well with a cat as she is fostered with one. She can be an only pet in the home provided she’s not left alone for long periods of time every day. Children should be aged 6yrs and up plus be loving, gentle and kind towards animals. She does require a fenced-in yard so she can be kept safe while she has a run around and play. LOVEY DOVEY, like all puppies, is cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need her adopter to be in agreement to take her for puppy/obedience training to help her to become the best girl possible. Her spay is included in her adoption fee and her potential adopter must be in agreement to have her spayed by the time she’s 6 months of age. The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the spay requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and a picture of her (preferably in her onsie or cone) in order to do the reimbursement. We do post the picture on our fb page along with other pets that were “fixed” in the same week.  If LOVEY DOVEY sounds like she’ll suit your family and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet her. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 8, 2026, 10:40 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.LUMINOX hails from the Northern community of Poplar Hill and came south along with her 4 puppies to find living homes. She was a loving, attentive mum and now she deserves to get that loving family she’s always dreamed of. She’s spayed, vaccinated including rabies, microchipped and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We can definitely see the Husky in her but not so much the Lab but she does have the loving, soft nature of one. So basically the breeds are just our assumption and she probably has many more in her too. She’s a bit under weight so could still do with gaining a few pounds which she should now seeing as she’s no longer nursing her puppies. She’s a sweet girl who just wants snuggles, toys and food. She loves her people and will be their shadow and follow them room-to-room because she doesn’t want to lose sight of them. Belly rubs? Did someone say belly rubs? This girl absolutely loves them and when she has her fosters full attention, she’ll then flop onto the floor and roll over so she can get that full-on belly rub.   LUMINOX is crate trained and will sleep well in it at night but not such a fan of it in the daytime so she is kept in a secure room and will settle down f er right away. She does well on her walks but we do not recommend anytime soon that she be off leash until her new owner is well acquainted with her and she’s very trusting of them. She’s housetrained and will let you know when she has to go outside for a bathroom break. She loves her belly rubs and will lean into her foster to let her know she wants them and when she gets their full attention she’ll then flop on the floor for her to give them. She loves to be in the water and she’ll run into it at full tilt and then lay down in it especially after a nice long walk in the woods. She enjoys car rides but sometimes needs bit of a boost to get her in there. She has the funniest quirk of when she’s going somewhere she’ll flop on the ground and go limp. However, she’s fine to be picked up and her smaller size makes it easier to manoeuvre her. She’ll do this sometimes at night when it’s bedtime and time to get her into her crate. She does this as she’d much rather stay with her people and she envisions herself lying on the bed rather than in the crate. She’s well socialized with dogs of all sizes and a lot of different breeds and she also has 2 of them in her foster home. They walk and play well together and love to burn off energy by playing chase in the back yard. She does have a prey drive so we’re saying no cats or critters in her new home. She’s only met children aged 10 plus and did very well with them so we are recommending they should be over the age of 10yrs and be gentle and loving towards animals.  LUMINOX loves to play with toys especially the squeaky ones. She has to be monitored with them though as she’ll chew through them pretty quick to get at that squeaker. So we’re recommending the toughest toys for her like the Kong brand and Nyla bones to chew on. She’s very food motivated so it’s very easy to teach new tricks and commands with treats. She already knows sit, paw, down, come and stay to name a few. Although she already knows these commands we do strongly recommend that her new owner take her to obedience/training school and it’s also a great way for her owner to bond with her. She’s great at sniffing out kibble too and has raided her kibble bin a couple of times so food should be kept well out of her reach. She doesn’t show any signs of  resource guarding with people when it comes to food or toys and they can safely be taken from her. She does require a fenced in yard and one that is secure as she’ll go on a mission to find gaps in it and try to escape. She does have a prey drive so  absolutely no cats or small critters in the home for her. She does chase after bunnies and other critters and one time she did manage to catch a bunny and it unfortunately didn’t survive.  If LUMINOX sounds like she’d fit into your home then please submit an adoption application to meet her.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 21, 2026, 5:40 pm
