Story
If you’re looking for a sweet, soft-hearted companion with classic husky charm (and a few endearing quirks), DC the Mixmaster may be your perfect match! DC is a lovely, gentle boy who thrives on kindness and reassurance. Though he’s six years old, he has the heart of a big, cuddly baby—especially when he’s feeling unsure. Loud, defensive, or aggressive-sounding dogs can scare him, and he’ll quietly tuck his tail and hide behind his trusted person for comfort. When he’s anxious, DC self-soothes in the sweetest ways: gently mouthing his bed, a tennis ball, a plush toy, or a special blanket. He knows exactly what’s his, too—he leaves kids’ toys untouched even when everything is scattered in an exciting pile on the floor. He doesn’t chew destructively, and he never mouths people. Despite his sensitive side, DC absolutely lights up when he sees friendly dogs. He wiggles, prances, and gets adorably overexcited, hoping everyone wants to be his friend. He also loves people—all people. He greets strangers with open enthusiasm and has zero interest in guarding a door, fence, or home. DC has shown wonderful manners with kids and teens of different personalities, sizes, and energy levels. He is gentle with a cautious 8-year-old, affectionate with a loving 15-year-old, and comfortable around a tall, rough-and-tumble 18-year-old. His calm, patient nature makes him a great fit for a home with respectful children. This sweet, affectionate boy has so much love to give. DC the Mixmaster is ready to join a family that will help him feel safe, cherished, and confident. In return, he’ll offer loyalty, laughter, and endless husky charm. Ready to make DC part of your story? He’s more than ready to become your newest best friend. 🐾💙

Story
The Butterfly-Chasing Guardian A loyal heart with a spring in her step, Suki will make your world feel grounded and bright! She's confident when she’s keeping watch and lighthearted when the work is done. When she's off duty, you’ll find her rolling in the grass, trotting after butterflies, settling down for long indoor naps, and giving herself a daily back massage on her favorite “tickle tree.” What Makes Her Shine: loyal, steady, eager to follow your lead. A Day in the Life: Wake up, BIG STRETCH, rushing outside to greet the birds and the bees, breakfast, a slow on-leash morning stroll, followed by a long loungey indoor nap, some more outdoor patrolling, maybe a yummy marrow bone, more naps, being brushed (and adored), dinner, maybe a light jog or trail adventure, finishing the evening with some quiet porch time. Her Pet Peeves: crowded or chaotic spaces, surprise introductions (she appreciates slow, polite hellos from new people), sharing her person with other pets or young kids, and swimming (unless she thinks you need rescuing). The Way to Win Her Over: melon and blueberries Skills: crate, leash, and muzzle trained • reliable recall • great house manners Commands: sit, come, wait, stay, down, back, out, off, paw, crate Best Fit: an adults-only, low-traffic home (ideally rural) with a devoted human who appreciates a smart, protective companion with a little sparkle in her eye. Suki's ready to get off the apps and meet her perfect match! Reach out today to set up a first date (porch hang + short walk). Not able to adopt? A quick share to your ranch or rural circles might help Suki find her dream home. https://youtu.be/BhVdi5mSWWc

Story
Brianna is a gentle, soulful Husky who’s ready to be someone’s cherished companion after lovingly raising her puppies. She’s the definition of a love bug—soft, sweet, and deeply people-oriented. When her foster family comes home, she greets them with happy wiggles, and when you sit down, she’s likely to rest her head right in your lap. 🐾 Brianna is incredibly sweet and affectionate with people and is wonderful with kids—she’s currently living with three and does great with all of them. She’s well-mannered in the home and doesn’t get on furniture, enjoys going for walks, and is great on leash. She’s very people-focused, not food-protective with humans, and even enjoys being hand-fed. She lives with another dog in her foster home and generally does well, although she prefers to eat her food separately. Her foster family describes her as a true love bug, and the way she gently laid her head in their laps while nursing her puppies perfectly captures her calm, nurturing nature. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will happily wiggle her way into your heart, Brianna could be your perfect match.

Story
🐾 Kala Is Looking for Her Forever Home 🐾 Kala is a beautiful 1.5-year-old Husky, full of love, energy, and sweetness. She came into our lives when she was around 7 months old, after we rescued her through a Facebook post, and she has been a joy ever since. She is a very loving dog, great with kids, and has a playful, affectionate personality. As a true Husky, Kala needs plenty of exercise, attention, and mental stimulation, making her a perfect match for an active family who can give her the time and love she deserves. This decision has not been easy. While rescuing Kala, our other dog developed protective and aggressive behavior, which has created conflicts between them. For the well-being of both dogs, we have made the difficult choice to find Kala a new home where she can feel safe and at peace. ✨ We are looking for a responsible, loving family who will care for Kala as one of their own and give her the forever home she deserves. If you feel a connection and believe you could

Story
Little Candy came to us as a puppy but she seems to have been treated very badly. She was roaming the streets for several days with a broken off chain around her neck and totally terrified. With lots of cheese and patience, one of our street rescuers was able to safe her. She's still very afraid of the world and she will need a calm household with yard access. Candy likes other dogs and we think, that another dog would help her come out of her shell. She's absolutely beautiful and precious as you can see in the pictures! Will you help us, give Candy a nice childhood from now on and a happy life? Basic requirements for Candy's home are an adult household with yard and a compatible dog companion for Candy. Story
Koda Final In Summary: - [ ] Koda is perfect. - [ ] 1-2 years old - [ ] 43 pounds - [ ] Neutered male - [ ] Has all shots - [ ] Likes other dogs and kids - [ ] Cats are questionable - [ ] Very athletic, smart, and social - [ ] Looking for Forever Home Now get comfortable for the story: Koda was abandoned in a small town in Texas. He has really good taste, so he found a nice house and notified the owners that he was moving in. They were perplexed, but what could they do? They started feeding him. However, their two Sphynx cats were adamantly against having another pet in the home, or even in the yard. They started behaving so badly that the owners realized they had to find another home for Koda. The family had tried to locate his actual owner, but of course, no one came to take Koda home. The high-kill shelter in their small town euthanizes dogs after 3 days, so that obviously wasn’t an option. The family contacted Furever Friends and Rescue and begged for help to find Koda a home. Luckily, a volunteer made room for him because he is such a very good boy, and Koda moved across the street to a foster home. He decided that although it wasn’t his first choice, it was OK. Koda moved his stuff into his new place. Koda was introduced to a new vet, and everyone there loved him immediately. He got all his shots and was neutered. He was declared to be a healthy 43 pounds. His jet black fur was shiny and his eyes were bright and intelligent. He was ready to start his search for a forever home. Koda wants a family of his own more than anything. He loves his foster family because they have trained him to walk on a leash, to be house trained, to use a doggy door, and to enjoy his crate when the family isn’t at home with him. They’ve taught him to sit patiently for food (a work in progress!) and to take treats gently. He knows some basic commands and is learning more every day. But Koda wants to be in his very own forever home. Koda thinks his perfect home would include a human who is active and who appreciates an active dog that would participate in all of his human’s activities. Koda is very athletic, and he likes to be right beside his human as much as possible. When walking with his human, Koda never takes his eyes off of them, and he frequently puts his nose in their palm to reassure the human that he is still right beside them. Koda is still young, maybe 1-2 years old, so he has lots of energy to spend with his family. However, Koda also knows how to settle at the end of the day. He is an experienced cuddler and couch potato when the opportunity arises. He likes to watch football and doesn’t get offended when his people yell at the tv. He will joyfully join in and bark his opinions of the play! Koda enjoys camping and hiking, but sometimes gets distracted by a squirrel (who doesn’t?) and will need to be gently reminded that squirrels aren’t toys. Koda has been on several trips with his foster family, and he is a wonderful traveler. He enjoys mountains and canyons, but prefers not to be outside for long in desert areas because black fur gets hot! Koda has expressed a wish to vacation on a lake or beach in the future, and he would be a great candidate to train on a paddle board or surfboard. Koda is also an excellent city dog. He joins in on walks in the morning and afternoon. Evening walks are often followed by dinner at a dog friendly restaurant. Koda sits quietly beside his human or lays under the table, and people often don’t notice him because his fur is in “supreme stealth mode.” (He plans to trademark that phrase.) When he is noticed, he is people-friendly and loves the attention and pets - as long as his people are OK with it. Koda also has a “protect mode” that automatically engages if his people feel uncomfortable or threatened. He is an excellent watch dog as well, and when his “protect mode” is engaged his black shiny fur and gleaming white teeth are quite terrifying. However, Koda is so smart that he understands when his people tell him everything is Ok, and he will sit quietly and wait for his next command. Koda is very gentle with children of all ages, but smaller children may be knocked over in his exuberance. He would enjoy kids of his own to play with, and maybe a young and active dog sibling. Neither are required for his happiness, though. Koda would be just as happy as an only child. Sadly, some smaller dogs don’t seem to like Koda because he is very active and they are fearful of being knocked over or stepped on. But occasionally a smaller dog decides that the shiny black fur looks really comfortable, and they cuddle up with him. Go figure. Larger dogs sometimes don’t like his energy either, but when he finds that perfect dog match, their playtime is a joy for the dogs and their humans. Koda’s recent experience with the sphynx cats has soured his opinion of all cats. He would probably need a cat-free home, but it’s possible that he might make an exception. It would have to be on a case by case basis with a dog-experienced cat. If you can’t tell from this narrative, Koda’s foster family loves him and wants the very best for him. He is very deserving of a wonderful family who will dedicate their lives to his wellbeing. He is very smart, adaptable, and nearly perfect. Could you be the lucky family who gets to experience life with this very good boy? If you’re interested in meeting Koda, please fill out the adoption application at the link below. There’s no obligation for filling it out, but because Koda is being fostered in Childress, TX, the rescue does require an approved application before arranging a meet and greet. Meet Zoro: the most majestic and goofy cuddle bug you've ever met! Everyone comments on how striking his eyes and mane are, but he's more than just a pretty face. Be aware, he will make cute little husky sounds if he wants your attention. It's hard to ignore his puppy-dog eyes when he wants to go for walks. Zoro is also very athletic! He's a great running buddy and will play fetch with you. He's intelligent and treat-motivated so he loves brief training sessions and already knows how to sit, lie down, and shake. Zoro tends to be suspicious of new people but it's amazing how quickly he becomes affectionate once he realizes you're just another friend who can give him some love.
