Story
Her birthday is October 17th, 2021, so she is about 3 1/2 years old. She is fully potty trained, kennel trained, and she knows various tricks. She is well-mannered on a leash and loves to look at scenery when we go for walks We are still working on her not jumping up on adult people when she first meets them (to give kisses). She is extremely gentle with young/small children and is a huge fan of meeting new people and animals. She enjoys watching the local birds and squirrels. She is non vocal unless you leave her in a kennel and she voices her frustration periodically through a grumble or howl. But at home with me, she is not a barker, howler, or talker. She loves to play fetch and tag (where I pretend to come get her and then she comes and gets me). She will happily sleep 90% of the day away as long as you keep her belly full and she knows you are there. She is a lot like a cat in that way. She is not spayed. She is fully vaccinated and on a heartworm preventative to keep her safe.

Story
Ellie is a 4 year-old Husky/German Shepherd mix who is spayed, microchipped, and ready for adoption. She was brought to the shelter with her buddy, Tucker, who is currently in foster. Ellie is a very special girl who, unfortunately, has not been treated well by her previous human. She is visually impaired in one eye, but that doesn`t stop her from getting excited when she sees someone walking by her kennel! Despite her past, Ellie LOVES people and attention. Please do yourself a huge favor and show our Ellie that not all humans are bad. We at PRAS love our girl, and she deserves to go to a home as special as she is.

Story
Didi is a two-year-old Horkie (that’s a Husky/Yorkie mix -- yes, the geometry is baffling, and yes, the result is as adorable as it sounds!). Weighing in at a fun-sized 35 pounds, Didi is the perfect combination of affection and joyful exuberance, with a keen emotional intelligence that seems to know exactly what you need -- and a powerful drive to deliver it.This clever girl was surrendered after repeatedly outsmarting her previous living situation. Didi was kept outside, but with her impressive brainpower (and a healthy dash of mischief), she kept making daring escapes -- no doubt in search of belly rubs, tasty snacks, and better company. Honestly, who could blame her?Outdoor life wasn’t exactly a spa day, and Didi developed a severe flea allergy. In a questionable fashion moment, her owner gave her a full shave. (We’re calling it “a bold Summer look.”) But don’t worry -- her signature style will be back soon in all its glory. Picture a beige teddy bear dipped in sunshine.Despite everything, Didi has stayed pure joy. She’s affectionate, cuddly, lightning-smart, and always ready for a good romp. She gets along great with kids, cats, and other dogs -- basically anyone willing to offer the love and attention she kept running off to find.Didi’s not demanding. After a walk, a play session, or a snuggle, she’ll happily flop by your side, just grateful you’re there. She’s waiting for you at Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton VA.Come meet this one-of-a-kind girl and see just how much magic a Horkie can bring into your life.Visiting hours are daily (including weekends & holidays) from 9am to noon.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Story
Her name is Athena. She is about 7 months old. She is very energetic and playful. She is great around kids and other animals. She loves to play and snuggle. With her being so energetic, she loves walks and going for a run. She is a great dog and has gotten the hang of potty training for inside (puppy pads) and outside. The puppy pads are only used in cases I’m not able to promptly take her outside. She is very protective of her home, especially when it comes to females and children. She already comes when called and follows basic commands. She needs a home filled with love and someone who will give her the attention she deserves. I’m only rehoming due to my own new health conditions coming about that limit my ability to care for her like I want to. It’s all becoming too much for me. If you’re looking for a warming new member to add to your family, Athena is a great fit.

Story
Chase is a sweet and spirited 2-year-old (born Feb 8, 2023) with a fun mix of Husky and German Shepherd. He’s house-trained, crate-trained, and full of personality. While he loves being around kids—he absolutely adores my 5-year-old and gets along well with my two teenage boys—he does take time to warm up to new people. Once he trusts you, he’s incredibly affectionate and loyal. Chase thrives on daily walks, playtime, and one-on-one attention. He’s smart and eager to learn, but he still needs consistent training, especially when it comes to sharing his food and toys. Because I run a daycare, I keep him separated from the younger kids—not because he’s aggressive, but because he’s still learning boundaries. We’ve made the difficult decision to rehome Chase, simply because our schedule doesn’t allow us to give him the attention he needs. He would do best in a home where he can be a central part of the family, with patient, dog-savvy people who can continue his training.

Story
Hi there! I`m Reptar, your new best friend waiting to meet you. I`m young, full of energy, and a goofball who loves to make everyone laugh. I`m independent, so I don`t mind spending some time on my own, but I`m also loyal and love to play when you`re around. I`m mellow and can chill out when it`s time to relax. I`m looking for a human who knows their way around my breed, the mighty Akita. A house with a yard would be perfect for me, apartments aren`t really my style. I promise to be the best companion, filling your life with laughter, loyalty, and love. Adopt me and let`s start our adventure together!
