Story
Bentley probably has no idea how gorgeous he is but his engaging personality is just as impressive as his striking looks! He was rescued from a shelter in Duplin County, North Carolina. A beautiful Siberian Husky, he is quick to charm those around him with his sweet gestures and affectionate nature. He wants to be near his people and loves to have his ears scratched. He is obedient on the leash and was not nervous or shy after the plane ride. In fact, he is so smart that he tried to help the pilot fly the plane! He gets along great with other dogs but wants to be close to his humans! Bentley is only a year old and weighs about 60 pounds. He is fully vaccinated, heartworm negative and will be neutered as soon as possible! If you are interested in Bentley or need more information, please email adoptionsecondchance@gmail.com. You can find an adoption application under “Forms” on the web site secondchancehabitat.org.

Story
Sparkly Sabrina is magical!!! Can you believe that his sweet, beautiful Husky mix girl was abandoned....the people just moved away and left her to starve. It doesn't take long till you realize this dog is an exceptionally smart girl.  She appears to be young at just approximately 2 years and 60 lbs. Always smiling, she is quick to please and equally quick to learn.  Being playful is her happy quality. Sabrina loves to go for walks (or runs!) and is wonderful riding in the car. Her one wish and desire in life to to be with a family or an individual person who will cherish her. She seeks attention, love and reassurance as you might expect an abandoned dog to do.  She adores kind words, pats on the head and belly rubs. In fact, belly rubs are magic to her. She does okay with other dogs but can be a little snarky at times. Her rope is her favorite toy, flinging it gleefully. At time, she is just plain smiley and silly. One of her quirks is her magicical disappearing/escape tricks to get out of an outdoor kennel or fenced yard when alone outside.  She just truly wants to be inside all the time. She is super special and needs an owner   experienced with Huskies.  They are sensitive and devoted dogs with special qualities.  If you are interested please contact us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com   PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.September 24, 2023, 9:31 am

Story
Our handsome white Blue Eyed pure bred Husky boy is called Sackett and he is a 6 year old sweetheart who just lost his forever canine friend and he is very sad.  We are looking to find him a new home with another dog that will be his best buddy.  Sackett is such a wonderful dog and he used to be shy and untrusting of people but he is not anymore.  He has a loving personality and he is a major bedtime snuggler who loves to be petted and told how handsome he is. He is very playful with other dogs and enjoys a good game of chase with his adult humans and tug of war. He loves summertime and the chance to play and lay in the kiddie pool.  He will play in the pool for hours, he will dig in the pool and also try and catch the water spraying. It is so entertaining to see him dive and go underwater to get his toys. For 6 years old and 43 pounds,  he is very playful. He loves to be wherever people are. He’s food  motivated and he likes to go for drives and stick his head out the window to see the world speeding by and to feel the wind on his face. He does well with other dogs but he does need you to be fair in your attention to him and equally to another dog.  Sometimes it hurts his feelings if he is not the center of your attention.  We think that Sackett would be a prize for someone …. And he will require frequent baths so get ready.  If you are interested please email us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com   He is ready to go now! PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comSeptember 24, 2023, 9:31 am

Story
McAlister is a handsome golden Husky/Shepherd mix who came to us as a one-year-old boy back in 2017.  We have loved having his incredible sweet natured personality around.  This boy has been trained and was sent to obedience school and knows his basic commands.  Of course, he has been trained to walk beautifully on a leash with very little pulling and he not aggressive with other dogs, but he will not let another dog roll him over to submit.  He is confident enough to nicely stand his ground.  The problem with the family who owns him is that they do not have a fenced yard and will not put one in.  So…McAlister likes to wander off if he’s left unattended in the yard.  This is dangerous for him and frustrating for the family who knows he likes to be outside some during the day.  He would have to be either in a fenced yard or watched while he is outside free to walk the yard.  He has always been inside and he loves it.  McAlister is amazing with cats.  His owner is a cat foster and says that he’s like a little nanny whenever she has newborns in the house.  McAlister will always keep close watch over them and has to be wherever the babies are.  His owner must find him a new because she is moving from a home she owns to a rental property that the landlord will not allow her to have an 85 dog, which McAlister is that big.  She is heartbroken to give up such a wonderful boy!  He is perfect in every way and she will miss him terribly.  If you would be so kind as to give McAlister a new and very loving new home McAlister and his momma would be forever indebted to you!   Please email at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.September 24, 2023, 9:31 am

Story
Oreo Cookie is a delightful 6 month old female Husky mix that weighs 32 pounds and destined to be a 40 pound adult girl.  She was an owner surrender because the family was unable to take care of her and she is now sitting in a shelter who is working hard with Critter Cavalry Rescue to find her a wonderful home.  Oreo is a great leash walker and she is so smart and quick to learn commands.  She loves to play with the other pups in the play yard at the shelter and she has demonstrated how much she loves having a yard to play in.  She would welcome anyone that exercises with her or has children to play with her.  Even another dog would be a welcome friend who would enjoy Oreo Cookie.   We see her thriving in a home where she would get interaction and lots of training time with her owners. She would be a great walking, hiking  or jogging partner to active person or couple.  Oreo Cookie is always happy, always wagging her tail and always smiling. We need to make her dreams come true and find her a solid family who will never give her away.   If you are interested in this terrific medium sized girl, please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com   She is ready to go! Acquired: 2.8.20 Adopted: 4.70.20 Returned: 7.30.22 Gabby is a young (born 9.14.19) spayed female Akita. She is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, on flea/heartworm prevention, house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. Gabby came to us with her parents, Kiyoko and Keito, and her two brothers, Gabe and Gordon. They had all been left in the care of a friend of their owner when he fell on hard times. After several months, he told the friend to go ahead and find somewhere for them to go. Gabby was adopted out in 2020, but returned due to a tragedy in the family. She would do well in a home by herself or with the right male, canine friend.

Story
Valerian is an adult (born approx 4.1.17) neutered male Akita. He is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm negative, on flea/heartworm prevention, house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. Valerian was surrenderd to the shelter in Chesapeake, VA when the owner could no longer care for him. He had previously lived outside in a pen and was uncertain and stand off-ish when he first came to us, but he warmed up to a goofy, woo-ing, wiggle butt boy. He is just so sweet! Valerian would be fine in a home with children 12+ due to his high energy level and as an only pet.
