Story
Meet Lorretta — the tiny legend who refuses to act her age!At 15 years young, this spry Jack Russell Terrier has more sparkle than most dogs half her age. Originally adopted from LHS in 2022, Lorretta recently returned to us through no fault of her own — her owner had to travel extensively for work and wanted her to have the stability and companionship she deserves.Lorretta is a professional snuggler and takes her job very seriously. If there’s a blanket, a lap, or a warm human nearby, she’s ready to clock in. But don’t let her senior status fool you — this girl still knows how to play, prance, and charm her way into your heart. She’s got that perfect blend of cozy-cuddly and spry-and-sassy.One important thing to know: Lorretta has been diagnosed with renal disease and will need to remain on a special kidney-supportive diet. Her new family will need to maintain a good, ongoing relationship with their veterinarian to ensure she stays comfortable and well-supported as she ages. She’s worth every bit of that extra love and care.Lorretta would prefer to be your one-and-only pet, soaking up all the attention, but may consider a home with other VERY mellow pets who will let her be on her own and give her space. She can do well with older, respectful, dog-savvy kids. Mostly, she wants a calm home, a comfy bed, someone to snuggle, and a family who appreciates the magic of a seasoned sweetheart. If you’re ready to open your heart to a senior girl with a whole lot of life left to love, Lorretta is waiting to meet you.Our shelter is open every day from 12-4, closed on Mondays. If you are interested in this pet, please email Info@lowellhumanesociety.org to request an adoption application.

Story
Nod is neutered Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix born about February 2024. He was found as a stray (Nod is a biblical name that means “wanderer”) and is being fostered by a very nice family who have become fond of him. Unfortunately their dog doesn’t like sharing the home, so they can’t keep him but will foster until Nod gets a good home. He loves to snuggle and not at all a “wild” terrier. He is house trained, leash trained, good with dogs, seems to ignore cats, and is very happy. Adoption fee is $95.    This covers the cost of spay/neuter, DHPP, Rabies, Flea, tick, heart worm check, worm treatment, and microchip. To adopt, you need to first fill out an application. Go to: https://rutherfordcountyhumanesociety.org/dog-adoption-application/ We are located in Western North Carolina.     Optional transport is weekly.  After your application is approved, we will contact you regarding cost and delivery if you so desire.December 15, 2025, 4:32 pm

Story
Kay Kay is a cute small girl. Super dog friendly and very playful. She got along with all of the dogs and made some best friends during her assessment. She loved running around and playing chase. Kay Kay was playing with two other dogs at the same time and it was so funny because they all looked like they were playing a game of twister! All three of them were playing and wrestling the whole time they were outside. Shes non-conflict driven. Kay Kay does need to practice her leash skills as she gets distracted easily and will try to go in different directions. She is not shy of people and loves affection. Kay Kay would do good in a family home and/or in a home with another dog. She is working on potty training, and her new family will need to be willing to work on this with her. With a little consistency, we're sure she will have this down in no time! She would love a backyard to play in or regular walks if in an apartment. She would be easy to handle and was not very vocal during her assessment. Video Link https://youtu.be/p-4HlBEG3Tc **Kay Kay has just gone through surgery on both of her back legs to correct luxating patellas. She will also need to complete heartworm treatment so she will not be able to travel for at least 8-10 weeks (October or November), but possibly longer. I promise she's worth the wait!!** Don’t miss out on this amazing pup! Click here to apply https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/62ffdeb8c2fac661501c8d1a Questions? The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is one of the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone! Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no choice but to euthanize animals for space. We prepare them for adoption by properly vetting and providing individualized care through our incredible behavior program that consists of socialization and leash training for all animals that enter our adoption program prior to matching them with loving families who will treasure them for the rest of their lives. They are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts once adopted, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be! Three Little Pitties Rescue will soon be celebrating our 5 year anniversary! Over the course of this time, we have been very fortunate for so much growth, allowing us to further connect with the community and save many lives. Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 10,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be brought into our rescue program. Together, we can be heroes. Follow along on our rescue journeys through the links below! https://www.threelittlepittiesrescue.org/ https://www.facebook.com/threelittlepittiesrescue https://www.instagram.com/threelittlepittiesrescue *Due to the rising cost of fuel and transportation expenses, there will be an additional $42 surcharge.
