She would do best with a woman and no young children, and another dog     Adoption fees and what is included in your adoption fee: https://www.sterlingshelter.org/pet-finder/animal-rescue-fee/   &#226&#128&#139 Current Hours and VIP Donor (Effective 07/30/2024) Tuesday through Friday are open hours 11am to 5pm. Saturday open hours 10am to 4pm. We are closed on Sunday and Monday. All surrenders are still by prior approval and appointment only. Even if you are only coming in to look during our open hours, you can still fill out our application prior to visiting. This will save time if you do decide to adopt. Preference on adopting a pet is given to our Shelter Supporters and VIP Donors   .  When animals arrive at the shelter, VIP donors will be emailed and given the first option to set up an appointment to view an animal of their choice. Click on the link above for full details. Due to limited staff, we may not be able to answer the phones. All information is available on this website, or can be answered by email to  staff@sterlingshelter.org  . Please be patient, we are doing the best we can to handle the volume. If you don't See any pets on our PETS for ADOPTION PAGE - it simply means that all of the animals were adopted.  We have several areas in/around the shelter to view and interact with the pet/s that you are potentially going to adopt. This includes outdoor, fully fenced yards. We encourage you to bring currently owned dogs so you can introduce them to any dogs that you are interested in adopting. Planning YOUR Visit to Adopt: please plan to arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your appointment time,  please make sure you have any/all necessary paperwork required for adoption  and help us stick to our schedule/s - so others do NOT have to wait. You should plan  * For cats/kittens plan for 30 to 45 minutes. * For dogs/puppies plan for 45 to 60 minutes.   If you have another dog/s at home - make sure to   bring him/her - we have plenty of space/areas to do a meet and greet with a new dog and your dog/s. My name is Theo, I’m a happy guy who lives for the simple things. If you have a fluffy toy, I will gladly show you my "surgical skills" by pulling all the stuffing out for you! I also think snowstorms are the best thing ever—there’s nothing like doing zoomies in a fresh drift. If it’s not snowing weather, you can usually find me swimming; I’m a total water dog at heart. And when the day is done? I am a professional-level snuggler. Recently, my Mommy had a human baby. I love my family so much, but having a tiny human around makes me anxious. I get way too excited, and because I’m a bouncy guy, I can be a little too rough without meaning to be. It’s been stressful for all of us, and my parents want me to be in a home where I can truly relax and be myself. This is the hardest decision my Mommy & Daddy have had to make so they would love to find a family that wouldn’t mind staying in touch once in a while. A photo or an update here or there would mean the world to them.

After being fostered for nearly a year and undergoing slow-kill treatment for heartworms, I’m pleased to announce that Apple is now heartworm negative and available for adoption! She weighs under 25 pounds, is potty trained, crate trained, and does know some commands. In addition to many positive traits, she’s also the most loving and affectionate little girl. Makes the perfect little lap dog.  She loves kids and gets along great with cats!  Apple is fully vetted: spayed, up to date on annual vaccines, and heartworm negative! She appears to have terrier and Chihuahua in her. As much as she loves people, she’s very dog selective and is nervous around big dogs. So a single dog household would probably be best.   We believe that she’s about two years old. Her adoption fee locally is $175.
