Story
Owner terminally ill senior lady and in hospice. His name is Normie, he’s a Jack Russell mix about knee high and around 30 lbs. He’s neutered about 3 yrs old. She rescued him from the Romulus Shelter about 2 yrs ago. He loves kids, is a bit hyper around other dogs but not mean. Knows basic commands. He’s house broken, crate trained but doesn’t need to be in a crate as he’s very good when left out. If I wasn’t at my legal limit for my city I’d keep him myself. He’s a very good dog. My mom had to abandon him in her house as she was taken by ambulance when she had a stroke. The house is being sold. He is such a good dog and would be great with active people, seniors, anyone really. His person was 75 yrs old used a walker and cane and he was always very patient and respectful of her. He is a clown and has a great personality. He is currently at the Westland Humane Society. Please check him out there, he really is a great guy!

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 100-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.-Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Story
🐾 Meet Bennett – Your Loyal Little Shadow! 🐾 (3-year-old Jack Russell mix) Bennett is a sweet, energetic boy who loves being close to his people and being part of everything you do. He’s affectionate, playful, and happiest when he’s included in family life. ❤️ Very loving and enjoys hugs and attention 🐾 Follows his people everywhere (true “shadow dog”) 🏠 Housebroken (may have an occasional accident while adjusting) 🚶 Enjoys walks and outdoor time 🚗 Does very well in the car (securely leashed preferred) 🧸 Loves soft toys and interactive play Bennett is not a fan of the crate and much prefers being near his people. At night, he settles best sleeping nearby where he can see his person. He is still learning independence and does best in a home where he isn’t left alone for long periods. 🍽️ Can be a picky eater and may need creative feeding/enrichment games 😮 Occasional reverse sneezing (cause unknown, monitored) 🐕 Can be selective with other dogs and may show some “bossy”/dominant play behavior 🧠 Still working on manners when excited (can get mouthy during play, but not aggressive) Bennett is not currently known to have experience with children, so slow introductions are recommended. He thrives in a home where he can be part of the action, get plenty of attention, and continue learning structure and consistency. In the right home, he will shine as a loyal, fun, and deeply devoted companion. ✔️ Current on vaccinations and preventatives ✔️ Neuter will be covered by the rescue through a partner veterinarian If you’re looking for a devoted best friend who wants nothing more than to be by your side, Bennett is your guy. ❤️🐾 Apply to meet Bennett today: https://www.underdogrescueranch.com/adopt

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, please let me introduce myself, my name is Sarah and I am a Lab/Jack Russell Terrier. I am house trained and crate trained, and love to go on walks and sniff around a securely fenced backyard.  Did I tell you that its me that pick all the tomatoes from the plants in the yard ? I am also spayed and have had all of my shots. Sarah was abused by her first human family, so she finds it hard to trust new people and has fear aggression. It will take time to gain Sarah's trust and multiple meetings.  She needs an owner that can give her guidance (and plenty of treats) in situations when she feels insecure. After meeting a trainer Sarah have improved a lot and she responds to her special verbal command.  A training class would be a great adventure for Sarah and her new family. She will excel and perform as an A-student, she likes to learn and is eager to please. Building a relationship with Sarah will be time well spent, once she has overcome her insecurity and fear she is a GREAT active, loyal, and loving dog.  Please come and meet me,  I need is a chance to find my permanent home. Older children only pleas e.    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to  Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $69.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.  Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
