Story
Meet Acorn! She is the sweetest most adorable girll! A little shy at first but a snuggler once she knows its safe.  She is a 2 year old that was rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea.  We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable.  Many of these dogs start off in horiffic puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth.  If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away.  Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat.   Restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South  Korea,  and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men.    Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions.  The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade.  Acorn and some of her family and friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life.  These are miracle dogs that they are alive today.  Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs.  If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application form at  https://form.jotform.com/oscarlucy/dog-adoption-app March 10, 2026, 8:30 pm

Story
WEACT received a tip in March of 2021 that there were dogs dying at #HwaseongPaltanDogFarm. Upon seeing the stiff bodies of the dogs in the photos, we immediately headed to Hwaseong. The site was even more terrifying in person. There were 12 neglected dogs either trapped in small cages or tied up on short leashes with only food waste in a bowl. Without proper shelter, they had to endure extreme weather conditions and fear for their lives. Thanks to the help from our volunteers and RE:BIRTH, we were able to rescue all 12 dogs as well as three stray dogs nearby. #weact_rinda was finally able to escape from the cold, dark place and finally get to know the beautiful world waiting for her.

Story
In March 2025, WEACT rushed out before dawn after hearing that wildfires were rapidly spreading in the Gyeongnam–Sancheong area. With trucks loaded with water, food, and rescue equipment, the team headed straight into the fire zone. The fires quickly spread across Uiseong, Cheongsong, Yeongyang, and Andong. Some dogs managed to escape, but many were tied up and couldn’t run away. Those dogs were trapped in the flames, unable to move even a single step. Some dogs collapsed after suffering severe burns. Others barely survived, escaping death by just moments—but still endured immense pain. That’s where we met Zenne.

Story
In the scorching heat of August 2025, WEACT received an urgent call for help. Two dogs were tied outside with metal chains, suffering in the brutal temperatures. One dog was in critical condition—unable to bear his own weight due to his stomach being swollen with fluid and maggots infesting his body—while his companion, Puchi, could only watch helplessly as his friend suffered. WEACT arrived in time to rescue them both, but despite our efforts, Puchi’s friend didn't make it. In his final moments, it felt as though he was entrusting his beloved companion to our care. Today, Puchi’s eyes shine with trust and love. He deserves a family who will treasure him for simply being who he is—and we believe that family is out there, waiting to find him.

Story
I’m a sweet, affectionate boy who just wants to feel safe and loved. I came in with Penny after things got a little tough at home, and I’m slowly building my confidence back up. I can be shy with new people at first, but once I trust you, I’m all about playtime, closeness, and soaking up every pet and chin scratch you’ll give me. I’ve lived with other dogs before and could do well again with the right match. If you believe in second chances and loyal companionship, I’d love to be by your side.
