Story
Meet Pink! She is the sweetest most adorable girll! She is a 6 month old that was rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea.  We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable.  Many of these dogs start off in horiffic puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth.  If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away.  Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat.   Restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South  Korea,  and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men.    Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions.  The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade.  Pink and some of her family and friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life.  These are miracle dogs that they are alive today.  Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs.  If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application form at  https://form.jotform.com/oscarlucy/dog-adoption-app December 10, 2025, 7:51 pm

Story
**Note: Currently she is in Korea but once she is adopted, she will fly to LA. Background Hana and her sister, Beosun were rescued from a city pound in Milyang, Korea, this past summer. Since then, she has been living with other dogs at our partner boarding house, learning how to enjoy a safe and happy life. Personality and Socialization Hana has a medium energy level and a very affectionate, social personality. She does well with other dogs, both big and small, as long as they are friendly. With people, Hana is very sweet and loving. Even with strangers, she happily approaches them and asks for pets. She is very friendly, outgoing, and loves human attention. Behaviours Hana is gentle, sweet and listens well. She handles car rides, baths, grooming, and vet visits without much fuss. She loves going for walks with her people and walks nicely by their side. She loves being petted more than anything and likes to stay close to her human. Even though she loves people so much, she stays calm when left alone and has not shown signs of separation anxiety, which has been very impressive. Health and Diet Hana is spayed and up to date on her vaccines. She has been dewormed and is on regular parasite prevention. She eats kibble well and has shown no food sensitivities. When she was rescued, she had Hepatozoon from an infected tick, but she completed her treatment and is now healthy and ready for her forever home. Ideal Home Hana is a sweet, gentle, social, and easygoing girl who will make a wonderful companion. She still has a little learning to do, but her friendly and eager to please nature makes her a joy to guide. She would be a great match for many families looking for a loving companion. A home where someone is around often would be best, as she enjoys quiet company and shared time with her people. --------------------------- For more info about the dog or the adoption application, please follow the link below. https://www.freekoreandogs.org/dog/hana-5/

Story
**Note: Currently, Jena is in Korea, but she will arrive in LA on Dec 9 once adopted. Background Jena was rescued early this summer from a farmhouse where she had been left neglected and chained outside. After spending a few months at a local shelter, she joined our care and now lives safely with other dogs at our partner boarding house. Jena is a Jindo and Mini Pincher mix. Personality & Socialization Jena is a friendly, social, and loving girl. She enjoys being around people, both men and women, and has a gentle, affectionate nature. With medium energy, she’s playful and friendly and easy to be around. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, big or small. Jena loves to play and is happiest when she’s with another friendly, playful dog. She’s the type of dog who brings joy and warmth. Behaviours Jena is smart and a quick learner. She handles baths, car rides, and vet visits well. She’s still getting used to leash walking and can be a bit nervous in new environments, but she follows her person’s lead and adjusts beautifully. She’s bright, and not overly needy—an easy companion for any household. Health & Diet Jena is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations. She’s dewormed and on monthly parasite prevention. She eats dry food twice a day and has shown no allergies. Ideal Home Jena would do best in a loving home with another gentle and friendly dog to keep her company. She’d also be a great match for someone looking for a second dog or who enjoys a calm, balanced companion. With a little patience and love, Jena will reward her family with endless affection and loyalty. ---------------------------- For more info about Jena, or the adoption application, please follow the link below. https://www.freekoreandogs.org/dog/jena/

If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online foster application.Hi, I'm Dale, a handsome Chow X who was rescued from a shelter where I was found as a stray. I'm grateful to be given a chance to find my forever home. Although my shelter stay wasn't the best experience, I've been doing great at CARL's kennel facility.I'm good with other dogs and enjoy playgroup time at the kennel, but for unknown reasons there have been a some dogs I didn't care for, maybe they were just sending me the wrong vibes. If you have a fur baby in the home already, please bring him/her along so we can do a meet and greet. It's unknown at this time if I get along with other cats. I would probably not do well in a home with young children due to their unpredictability. Older children who know how to behave around a dog and are more predictable would probably be fine. A CARL volunteer said I needed a little time to warm up to new people when I first came to CARL, but now I'm more social. I'm sure it had to do with having been picked up as a stray and then being taken to a shelter where I didn't know what fate awaited me. The volunteer said I'm leash trained and nice looking too.I can't wait to find my forever home and be someone's loyal companion. Could that someone be you? Please fill out an online application to meet me.*Thank you to Sharon for sponsoring this wonderful dog at the Burnice Kraemer Sanctuary and giving him the chance for a better life.August 8, 2025, 12:03 am
