Story
Meet Red! She is the sweetest most adorable girll!  She is aan 11 month old that was rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea.  We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable.  Many of these dogs start off in horiffic puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth.  If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away.  Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat.   Restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South  Korea,  and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men.    Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions.  The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade. Red and some of her family and friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life.  These are miracle dogs that they are alive today.  Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs.  If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application form at  https://form.jotform.com/oscarlucy/dog-adoption-app May 14, 2026, 5:48 pm

Story
WEACT received a tip in March of 2021 that there were dogs dying at #HwaseongPaltanDogFarm. Upon seeing the stiff bodies of the dogs in the photos, we immediately headed to Hwaseong. The site was even more terrifying in person. There were 12 neglected dogs either trapped in small cages or tied up on short leashes with only food waste in a bowl. Without proper shelter, they had to endure extreme weather conditions and fear for their lives. Thanks to the help from our volunteers and RE:BIRTH, we were able to rescue all 12 dogs as well as three stray dogs nearby. #weact_rinda was finally able to escape from the cold, dark place and finally get to know the beautiful world waiting for her.

Story
Yewon will do well with a family who can respect her pace and spend time with her patiently. She is still learning and adjusting to new environments, so it would be best for her to experience new things slowly and in a way that feels safe and comfortable. If there is another dog in the home, Yewon is likely to get along well, as she enjoys being around gentle and friendly dogs. She can also do well as the only dog, as long as she receives calm companionship and plenty of warm affection. We hope Yewon meets a family who will move at her pace with kindness; someone who will share quiet moments, steady support, and a loving life together with this gentle, soft-hearted girl.

Story
In the scorching heat of August 2025, WEACT received an urgent call for help. Two dogs were tied outside with metal chains, suffering in the brutal temperatures. One dog was in critical condition—unable to bear his own weight due to his stomach being swollen with fluid and maggots infesting his body—while his companion, Puchi, could only watch helplessly as his friend suffered. WEACT arrived in time to rescue them both, but despite our efforts, Puchi’s friend didn't make it. In his final moments, it felt as though he was entrusting his beloved companion to our care. Today, Puchi’s eyes shine with trust and love. He deserves a family who will treasure him for simply being who he is—and we believe that family is out there, waiting to find him.

Story
WEACT rushed to the site after receiving shocking reports of a dog struggling just to take a step, burdened by a tumor as large as a rock. The massive tumor dragged along the dirt every time the dog moved, causing open wounds and making even basic activities, like relieving itself, extremely difficult. But that wasn’t all. Hidden deep in the backyard, beneath the shade of trees where sunlight barely reached, there was a wooden box. Inside, terrified puppies only about six months old were huddled together, trembling in fear and surrounded by their own waste. Along with a dog named Dear, who had a tumor nearly the size of a bowling ball, and several other dogs tied throughout the yard, WEACT rescued all eight dogs from the property. Maurice was one of them, found tied in a corner of the yard with a leash barely one meter long.

Story
n December 2019, the #SiheungDogFarm entered the spotlight as the story of Yumi emerged—a dog that miraculously escaped with extensive burns covering its entire body. Another animal welfare organization initially launched a rescue operation, but on Christmas Day, the owner transferred all the animals to a different dog farm. Although their whereabouts remained elusive, persistent efforts eventually convinced the farm owner to surrender them. However, the time spent in slaughterhouses had inflicted profound trauma on these dogs. Taking charge of the situation, WEACT and volunteers provided ceaseless day and night care, leading to the successful rescue of 65 animals from the #SiheungDogFarm. Due to their profound trauma and injuries inflicted by humans, it necessitated an extended period of time and heightened effort to rehabilitate them. Even four years down the line, WEACT remains steadfast in its mission to facilitate the adoption of dogs from #SiheungDogFarm. #weact_betty was one of the rescues from this very location.
