Story
Got Franklin in December of 2025 he was born in October of 2025. He's a somewhat trained dog he still for some reason though has accidents here and there in the house. He knows some tricks paw, sit, lay down, spin, and jump. He has been around two dogs and has shown no aggression to them except for when on a walk he tends to bark at other dogs and pull the leash. His walking out in public on a leash he’s very hyper and hard to have stay still or by your side constantly pulling. He has been with a cat inside our house that he constantly chases never bite but has chase he has been around my 4 month old son as well but I don’t leave the two unintended and here’s why I left for vacation and had my mom watched him while away and two times he has like shown aggressive behavior to her as well as to my wife coming back from our vacation with his food. Never food with me but too her once I don’t trust this dog to being in my house and I’m looking for someone that will train him and keep him

These pups are in Detroit, Michigan too!

Story
Meet Agave – A Sweet Survivor with a Soul Made of Gold Thrown from a moving vehicle and left broken on the expressway, Agave’s story could have ended in heartbreak. But this extraordinary girl chose to keep going. With a fractured pelvis, a fractured front leg, and unimaginable pain, she still looked to humans with hope. And today? She’s walking again. She’s healing. She’s beginning to trust that love won’t always hurt. Agave is as sweet as her name suggests—gentle, affectionate, and endlessly resilient. She’s the kind of dog who leans in for comfort, whose eyes speak volumes, and whose quiet strength will move you to tears. There’s something about her presence that makes you pause, breathe deeper, and feel lucky just to be near her. She’s made incredible progress through physical therapy and is blossoming into a playful, loving companion. She loves her walks and trots proudly at your side, soaking up every scent and every moment. She’ll gently chase after a ball and light up when she catches it—never too rowdy, always just happy to be included. Car rides are her jam. She gazes out the window, ears in the wind, as if she’s remembering how far she’s come. Agave gets along beautifully with most other dogs and has a soft spot for calm, structured homes. She’s mostly housebroken and does her best to communicate when she needs to go out. She knows basic commands, offers a paw when asked, and wants nothing more than to make her people proud. After everything she’s endured, Agave deserves a peaceful, predictable place to continue healing—ideally with women or older children who will give her the space and patience to feel safe. Loud, fast movements still worry her, especially from men, but she’s learning that love can be quiet, steady, and safe. Agave has survived the unthinkable, and yet she remains sweet, soft, and so full of love. Her story didn’t end on that expressway. It’s just beginning—and you could be the one to help her write the next chapter. Let Agave show you what it means to be brave. Let her remind you that sweetness can survive anything. Apply to foster or adopt and give this beautiful soul the home she’s always deserved. Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home. Story
Subaruu A18702150 lb. neutered male, approx 2 years old -Once outside, this sweet boy was happiest when he could be close to me! He eagerly climbed into my lap for pets and attention, soaking up all the love and offering plenty of sweet kisses in return. He especially enjoyed relaxing between my legs for pets, belly rubs, and more affection.-He can be a little timid and head shy at first, so he’ll thrive with someone patient and gentle who will let him settle in and build confidence at his own pace. Toys aren’t really his thing right now, but treats definitely are! He knows how to sit and takes his snacks politely—though his excitement sometimes gets the best of him and he adds a little happy jump to the mix. -He appears to be a potty holder and may already have some house-training under his belt. Like any dog, he may need a little time to adjust to a new home and new routines, but with patience, consistency, and plenty of love, we think he’ll blossom beautifully.-This affectionate boy is simply looking for a soft place to land and someone who will show him that he’s safe, loved, and home. -Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper introsUnknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** •The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30 **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit
