Story
Oso is the sweetest dog. He loves to snuggle and play. Oso has always done really well with the kids of our friends and family, but we had a baby a year ago and sadly they just don't get a long. We have another baby on the way which is why we are deciding to rehome him. Oso is happy to walk and run for however long you want, but is just as content to snuggle in and watch movies all day. He loves car rides and exploring. He's been on several road trips and handled them well. Oso needs lots of love and affection and he will be loyal and protective of you. He seems very intimidating because of his size, but he thinks he is a small lap dog and wouldn't hurt a fly. We hope Oso goes to a very sweet loving home.

Story
Liesel is a sweet girl with loads of energy. She likes walks, but needs a fenced yard to run and fetch as well. She is dog reactive and when she came to us we were told she does not like other dogs, but that isn't true. She is just dog selective and has spent time with six different dogs while in our care and has done very well. Introducing the dogs in a proper manner is crucial to successfully getting Liesel to accept a new canine friend. She gets very excited when you first come home or greet her and will tend to jump to say HI, but once things get calm, she calms down as well. She has had some training sessions with 3 different trainers and knows some commands. Liesel has calmed down slightly since coming to us, but she will always be a bit high strung and her adopter must understand and accept that. it is just part of who she is. Liesel loves people, both children and adults, and just needs someone to love her for the dog she is. She wants to please and will be loyal and loving forever, if given the chance..

Story
Severus is an energetic eight year old boy. We affectionately refer to him as eight going on two. Sev came to us when a friend suddenly had to move into an apartment where she wasn’t allowed to have a dog. She’s had him since he was a puppy. We have had Sev for a year. He requires a lot of space! We have a fairly big house but it’s still not big enough for him. Sev is microchipped and currently wears an AirTag tracking device in his collar. He is up to date on all of his shots and healthy. He is allergic to beef and chicken, so we feed him Purina One lamb and rice formula. He has yet to meet an animal he doesn’t like. He has such a gentle personality. He gets excited so easily. Sev chose me as his human when he moved into our house. He follows me everywhere. He comes to find me if I’ve been gone too long. Sev has an issue: he will eat anything he can. If it’s on the counter, a table, right beside you or in the trash can he will go for it. It has become a bit much.

Story
Meet Alabaster! This handsome guy recently came to us as a stray, and we are still getting to know him. We are not sure what he is mixed with, but he is a very unique looking lad! Alabaster seems to be pretty undersocialized and is nervous in new situations, so meeting strangers can be a little overwhelming for him. His ideal family will be prepared to do all of the socialization, training, and grooming a young doodle needs. Alabaster is a vocal boy, so he would do best in a house rather than a an apartment. He is nervous with new dogs but will warm up given the opportunity. If you have other animals in your home, we recommend bringing them in to do a meet and greet before taking Alabaster home. If you are interested in meeting Alabaster, please submit an adoption form on our website: fairfieldcountydogs.com and we will contact you to arrange a time to visit. Story
Hi, I’ve just recently arrived after HSDC helped rescue me from a local puppy mill who discarded me. I’m finally experiencing so many firsts like being petted, hugged and loved! I’m looking for a patient adopter to help me decompress from the mill and learn what it’s like to finally get to be a dog. It is REQUIRED that my new home has another dog friend to help me gain confidence about life outside the mills. How did I get here? Ohio ranks second in the nation for puppy mills, with documented violations including poor living conditions and lack of medical care for dogs. The Humane Society of the United States has identified 16 of the worst puppy mills in Ohio, where dogs suffer both physically and mentally. Recent news stories are highlighting the urgent need for industry reform, but we’re not there yet. Advocacy for better conditions and responsible breeding practices is crucial to address this ongoing issue. If you’re interested in meeting me, please reach out to HSDC!

Story
Davina is a very sweet, sensitive girl who is still learning that the world is a safe place. She can be nervous and submissive at first, but underneath that timid exterior is a loving dog who just wants to feel secure and understood. She forms strong bonds with her people and will look to you for reassurance, which means she’ll thrive with someone patient, calm, and willing to move at her pace. Davina does experience separation anxiety, so she’s looking for a home where someone is around often or can help her gently build confidence when alone. 💖 Davina’s gentle heart: • Sweet and affectionate once she trusts you • Gets along well with other dogs and cats • Would likely feel most comfortable with calm, less outgoing pets • Thrives in a quiet, predictable environment 🏡 Ideal Home: Davina would do best in an adult-only home while she continues to build confidence. Loud or busy environments can be overwhelming for her right now, so a peaceful home with a steady routine will help her truly blossom. Davina isn’t the kind of dog who will steal the spotlight right away — she’s the one who will quietly steal your heart over time. The kind of bond you build with her? It’s the deep, meaningful, “you chose each other” kind. If you have the patience and love to help her grow, Davina will give you a loyalty that’s unmatched 💕
