Story
All Southern Crescent Canine Rescue pets are spayed or neutered, all vaccinations are up to date, heartworm negative, and microchipped. We suggest follow-up intestinal worming two weeks after adoption.  We require monthly heartworm preventive after adoption! Are you looking for a protector?  A one-person/family dog? Sitka just might be the one you're looking for.  We've had Sitka since he was 5 weeks old, so we know he has not been treated badly.  He was the shy, stand-offish one of his litter. He is bonded strongly to his foster family and loves intensely, and we know this bond is transferable with patience and gentle handling.  He is suspicious of strangers and will bark and retreat.   He has NO bite history, and we trust him completely.  He will be alert to any activity that is different in his home.  Once he's comfortable with his surroundings, he is silly, affectionate, and playful. He does prefer women and is gentle and quiet.   The best for him is a secure, stable home with a canine companion and a patient owner. He is so easy to handle; he has had 6 weeks of group training sessions and is smart and willing.  He is very beautiful, graceful, and lanky.  He's under 2 years old, 45 pounds.  We love Sitka and want the best for him.  You'll love him too!                                  'We Are Rescue' Until you have held a tiny puppy in your arms as it kissed your face with slobbery puppy breath and felt the love, Until you have held an injured or severely ill dog in your arms and felt their pain, Until you have looked into the eyes of a tired aging senior dog and felt their wisdom, And until you have seen and understood the look in your dogs eyes that tell you their time on earth with you is over .... and you humanely let them go, You will never understand the life of a rescuer. We find beauty in the most incomprehensible places and the otherwise homely faces. It is our gift to see beyond the dirt, terror, sadness and defeat and find the true soul that lies within. This special girl is just so attracted to children, and is gentle and respectful with kids and other dogs her size.  She does love to play and run, but settles down for snuggle time. Love her toys and cushy bed. She will guard your yard from evil squirrels, so we suggest no cats.  She is NOT a housedog; she prefers to be outside. This is a perfect family dog!   FENCED YARD REQUIRED                                  'We Are Rescue' Until you have held a tiny puppy in your arms as it kissed your face with slobbery puppy breath and felt the love, Until you have held an injured or severely ill dog in your arms and felt their pain, Until you have looked into the eyes of a tired aging senior dog and felt their wisdom, And until you have seen and understood the look in your dogs eyes that tell you their time on earth with you is over .... and you humanely let them go, You will never understand the life of a rescuer. Story
Name: Jake Breed: Labrador Retriever MixSex/Age/Weight: Male/ estimated DOB 07/2020 /85lbs Vetting: Jake is fully vetted, neutered, and microchipped. House trained/Crate Trained: Jake is currently living outside in a kennel due to not getting a long with others (see below). He is very quiet.Dogs: Jake is very particular when it comes to other dogs. He has lived with them in the past, but he wasn't always nice. Since being rescued, Jake has spent time with a few dogs here and there, but it was totally on his terms. He played a little, but then he was done. For this reason, we believe Jake would do best with only one other dog (with slow introductions to ensure compatibility) or be “the one and only” in his new home.Children: Jake tends to be very skittish around them because he is not sure what they will do. He would do best with older children who can understand how to treat animals with respect.Cats: Jake has not been seen around cats, however he can be cat tested upon request. Energy Level: Jake is very laid back. Jake loves taking walks and will follow you around. Before FAR/My History: My previous owner got very sick and passed away. There were 6 of us. I was the last one that he rescued as a stray. I didn't know my dad very well, he got sick soon after he rescued me. I don't remember my previous life but I was a stray when my dad found me. I got along with my dog siblings but I was never quite comfortable around them. I do like other dogs but I need very slow introductions. I've never been around cats. Training Status/Commands I know: I know my name and respond and come when called. I walk very well on a leash.Working on: Getting Jake comfortable with new people and new situations due to an unfortunate past. But he is a big love when you get to know him.Things I like: Jake loves chewing on marrow bones. He’s also VERY food motivated and loves treats. Things I don’t like: I am very sensitive and I really like to see where your hands are when you approach me. I really appreciate a pet on my head first. Things that make my humans happy: When I sit next to them and let them pet and talk to me. He seems to just love and want to be around people all the time!Ideal Family/Home: Jake would love a home where it is quiet, no younger children around and probably would like to be the only dog. He would be great as a companion to someone who is lonely. If you are interested in giving Jake a forever home, please visit the link below to fill out an application! http://fureverafterrescue.org/adoption-application.html It is best to submit an application through a computer. Story
Name: OliveBreed: Rottweiler/Lab mixSex/Age/Weight: Female/ estimated DOB 03/2023 / 60 lbs Vetting: Fully vetted, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Is receiving flea/tick prevention and heartworm prevention monthlyHouse trained/Crate Trained: she does very well left loose in the house. There are no accidents since learning the doggy door. She is excellent in a crate. She has slept in a crate, with no issues. She now sleeps loose in my bedroom.Dogs/Cats/Children: Good with other dogs of all sizes, She needs a proper introduction. She hasn't been around cats. She absolutely loves to play. She loves water, sits in her pool when it was really hot this summer. The only issue is that she jumps when overexcited. Energy Level: Moderately high – Olive is a typical teenage pup. She absolutely needs space to run and play in. She would love a fur brother or sister. Before FAR/My History: I came up on my foster mom and dad one evening at their house. They had a lot of dogs and I was looking for some friends. They tried to find my family but no one came forward. They did promise me they would find me a great family of my own.Training Status/Commands I know: I know my name and respond and come when called. I absolutely love to run and play.Working on: We are working on walking on a leash and using a prong collar confidently and not jump. She knows sit, stay.Things I like: Playing with any sort of toys! LOVES playing with other dogs. Things I don’t like: Not enough play time.Things that make my humans happy: When I get a lot of playtime and I am all tuckered out, snuggling with my foster mom! She seems to just love and want to be around people all the time!Ideal Family/Home: Olive is a moderately energetic and playful girl so she would do great with an active family with a fenced yard who understands this and is willing to work with her and give her the time she needs to run and play as well as training to help her be her best self. A home with other dogs would be ideal because he absolutely LOVES playing with other dogs.If you are interested in giving Olive a forever home, please visit the link below to fill out an application! http://fureverafterrescue.org/adoption-application.html It is best to submit an application through a computer.
