Story
Meet Byron! We believe he is a 3 year-old hound lab possibly staffy mix. He’s absolutely a super mutt mix and an amazing one too! He is young and active, playful and can be stubborn but ever so sweet and loving. He loves all he meets, he knows no stranger ever. . He is great with dogs, and cats, and best with older children as he is goofy and uncoordinated at times. Byron is friendly and outgoing and his joy is contagious. Byron can be mischievous if left to do his doing. He’s still very much a young dog with so much to smell, learn, meet, learn, and explore. Byron enjoys his daily routine exercise, playgroup, pack walks, and car rides as well as his training time. Byron is eager to please and extremely food and praise motivated. Fun is the key to his heart. He is very smart and easily picks up training. Byron also enjoys swimming, car rides, will never complain if his person wants to snuggle or cuddle either. Overall Byron is a very simple happy, fun pup. who enjoys life. Byron was originally from Puerto Rico but after a week in his new adopted home, the family decided they did not want a pup. Sadly he made it to the state just to be rejected. Byron is house and crate trained, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, corona, and rabies shot, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped, neutered, and current on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention. Updated: 3/25/2023 www.animalhousesanctuary.org We believe training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues that arise, need to be addressed and/or rewarded. Understanding that continued training is a lifetime commitment, is very important. Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. Meet & Greets are a required before proceeding with an adoption. We DO NOT ship any of our pets.

Story
Meet Holmes!!! Holmes is believed to be a 4-year-old, Yellow Lab hound mix. He is amazing with dogs and cats and devoted and in love with all humans he meets. Holmes is extremely gentle but clingy and very praise and food driven. But his biggest motivation is people. Holmes has learned most of his basic commands including learning “not to bark excessively when excited or the need to communicate his needs/wants. He does need to be reminded to use his indoor voice, but overall he is eager to please and easily continues to learn with positive reinforcement and praise and lots of love and affection. His biggest motivation is his peoples' attention and love. All hounds are amazing but Holmes is extraordinarily awesome because he leads with his heart. Holmes is house and crate trained. He walks well on a leash. His recall is actually pretty good for a hound. Holmes will need a fully fenced-in yard and daily walks to let his sniffer work. The occasional car ride as needed is ok but definitely not his favorite as it does cause him some anxiety. He enjoys urban life and being surrounded by people makes him happy. Especially short drives to the drive through in town and down the road. An active, hands-on home with daily outdoor walks/adventures and someone home often would be best for Holmes. He thrives with all human companionship. I dare to say Holmes can be stage 5 clinger. Not the worse but clingy enough to honor the label.Holmes is house and crate trained, not distructive, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto and corona, as well as rabies, de-wormed, fecal tested negative, micro-chipped including free registration to adopters, neutered, and current on monthly heart-worm flea/tick prevention. Story
Meet Mouse! A 2 yr old super happy mutt mix. Mouse weighs 29 pounds and she’s some kind of lab collie hound mix. Her mom was a pit mix and her siblings are all 75 plus pounds. Her bark is barely heard, but she is quick even for being a paraplegic dog. Mouse is dog cat, and every breathing animal friendly. Mouse suffered a spinal and neck trauma injury as a puppy that prohibits her from walking but that doesn’t stop her. Mouse does wear diapers as needed. She is active, playful, outgoing, and will give it her all to keep up with any dog. She does not have a off button so we make sure to monitor her activity and time spent on her drag bag, wheelchair/scooter/walker time. This girl has the spirit of a pack of wolves. Mouse is fully grown, we think. Last time the vet said so she gain another 10 pounds. Mouse does have limitations but nothing that she can’t overcome with help and the right family. We do so daily since she was 4 weeks old. She has all items above that come with her and a 2 months of all needed supplies upon adoption. Mouse microchipped, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, rabies, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped, neutered, and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention. Story
Well hi there! I'm Tux! I was found as a stray and the nice hoomans at the shelter named me this because it looks like I'm wearing a lil' tuxedo with the white on my chest. I am believed to be a Black Lab mix and I'm only 2 years old! Since nobody knows where I came from, not very much is known about me yet. I can be a little nervous meeting new people, but once I'm comfortable with you I will remember you and love you forever! I can tell you one thing, my absolute favorite game is fetch! I could play all day. Unfortunately, I can't while I'm staying at the shelter. I would really love the chance to stay somewhere that isn't so scary and loud so that someone can figure out what a good boy I really am! Tux's adoption fee is $300. This covers the cost of his neuter surgery, microchip, and all age-appropriate vaccinations. Story
Belle is a very adorable Labrador Retriever who was found dumped in the country with 4 other dogs! In the short time she has been at our shelter, our volunteers say she is the sweetest little lady. She might be a little shy when first meeting new people, but it does not take her long to warm up and come up to you for snuggles. She absolutely loves other dogs, is very gentle and good with kids, and is very treat motivated. Belle is going to make one family very lucky when they take her home!
