HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this dog, please email Kathryn at kvry@arl-iowa.org.---- Kind, sweet and inquisitive girl who looks to those she's comfortable with for help - Loves belly scratches from people she knows - Highly recommended to have an adults only home at this time; may do well in a mature and predictable home - Food motivated and has been building relationship with new people using pattern games - Walks great on a leash - May take some time to warm up to new people, but has been building relationships quickly in the shelter environment - Can be unsure and socially awkward with other dogs, but appears to enjoy the company of other dogs. May enjoy a dog friend in her future home after a slow introduction. - Has great potential to build confidence through pattern games (more info at ARL) - Enjoys spending time with those around her, and engaging in new activities with them This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you're interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org.All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: Black Weight: 52 Age: 2yrs 2mths 3wks

Story
- Loves spending time with people and loves butt scratches - Enjoys chasing tennis balls and chewing on soft squeaky toys - Takes treats very gently - Does best with a harness on walks - Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for him (mature home recommended) - Tends to be socially awkward and can be particular about his dog friends; would be most comfortable with a slow introduction to new dogs and may prefer to be the only dog in his home (dog intro required) - We don't know his history with cats This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. HOW TO ADOPT: This animal is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this animal, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org.---- Amazing sweet boy who can be a little shy with new people but warms up quickly and is very gentle and considerate - Loves his toys! - Likes going on walks and overall does well on a leash- Has been housetrained here in the shelter; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new schedule - Previous family said he is still working on crate-training and does best in a plastic crate - Has lived with kids and did well with them, but very young ones might be a bit much, so we think he may do best in a more mature home - Tends to be socially awkward with other dogs (dog intro required)- Lived with cats and would touch noses with them from time to time but generally gave them distance - Previous family said he may have had separation-related anxiety when one of the family members started a full-time job, but that he had done very well previously when the family left him to run errands; to set adopters up for success we will provide info about working on separation-related anxiety if it should occur This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. Meet the snack puppies! These little cuties look like mini labs and also have some Heeler and terrier thrown in the mix. They’re 8 weeks old and 6-8 pounds, and we estimate they’ll be around (estimate here) full grown. They’re yet another accidental litter, but thankfully mom will be getting fixed with the owner and these pups will find great forever homes and all be fixed to stop the cycle of endless unwanted litters. They’re happy, playful puppies who adore attention. They have great temperaments and will make fantastic family companions! Girls: Nilla, Goldfish, Cheez-It, Pringle Boys: Funyan, Chex
We'll also keep you updated on Chex's adoption status with email updates.
