Story

In rescue we are always ready to take in the needy and homeless animals and work with them to transform them into the amazing pets that we know they can be! But sometimes we come across one that amazes us as they quickly and gently adjust to a new life . Willow is that girl! She is the sweetest tempered, affectionate little soul that would love nothing more than consistent love, companionship and to be your shadow. Although she was timid and confused in an outside hoarding case, it wasn't long before Willow decided she would prefer to lay beside her foster family for gentle belly rubs. This was her first step and now her tail never stops wagging! Willow is a stunning yellow lab between 1.5 to 2 years old and weighs in at 60 pounds. She adores her people and is thriving daily happily giving affection and gives kisses! Willow also enjoys playing with dogs from 45 to 160 pounds and gets the most adorable case of the zoomies in the fenced in yard. A main characteristic of hers is that Willow wants to please and is very smart! She will watch what you want and follow your cues. A calm home that has another well adjusted dog would be ideal so she can continue to gain confidence. This beauty also loves children and is learning how to play with toys and chew bones. As a bonus she has had no accidents, can be left out and has never destroyed anything in the home (although we are crate training) and is learning how to walk confidently on a leash. She is a bit timid with new people but quickly warms up when she feels safe and loved. Willow brings a special kind of compassion and joyful disposition to all who meet her! Meet Asha! She’s a 63 lb, 1.5 year old Black Labrador Retriever. Asha came to us from a terrible hoarding and neglect case. She is very frightened and will take an extra special adopter. She’s good with all dogs. We will post more details as she decompresses. As of right now she is not leash trained, not housebroken, and is scared of humans. It’s heartbreaking. Asha has been spayed, fully vetted and vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, treated for Giardia and worms, and microchipped. More info will be coming. Meet our beautiful love muffin, Maudie! This 2 yr old Chocolate Lab weighs in at a solid 80 lbs. After coming from a life of neglect, Maudie can be a little shy at first, but give her just a bit of time and she blossoms into the most gentle, affectionate, and loyal companion. Maudie is great with other dogs and totally fine with cats. She's a laidback, easygoing girl who loves her new, calm, cozy environment. She's also very smart! She's already crate trained, walking nicely on a leash, and doing wonderfully with potty training… she's getting the hang of both potty pads and going outside like a champ. While Maudie doesn't live with young kids in her foster home, she has been nothing but tolerant and sweet with the ones she's met. When Maudie arrived, she was in heat, but she is now officially spayed (hallelujah!), fully vetted, vaccinated, 4DX heartworm tested negative, dewormed, treated for Giardia, microchipped, and 100% ready for her forever family. Drake is a handsome yellow lab around one year old in search of his forever family. He is looking for a special family who will be very patient as he learns all the good things about being a pet. Drake came from a situation where he lived outside with many other dogs in a hoarding situation. He did not receive vet care or any real socialization with humans. Due to these conditions he is a shy boy and still adjusting to the big world outside of the fenced area in his previous life. Drake is very sweet and gentle, and slowly beginning to enjoy human contact. Once inside his foster home and out of the cold Drake discovered it is better to be inside. He loves the many dog beds available to him now, and has tried out the human beds too. Foster Mom reports that Drake is a very smart boy and he catches on to the routines quickly. He goes out to the fenced yard for potty breaks on schedule, and has had zero accidents inside the house! He will head to his crate for meal times , and follows the pack to the bedroom every night to sleep. Drake has shown no aggressive behavior towards any dogs, but he is timid around them at first. There was some fighting among the dogs in his previous life which has made Drake very cautious around dominant dogs . He would do best in a home with a friendly canine companion or two to help build his confidence. A f airly quiet and low key home would suit him best as Drake tends to seek out quiet, low traffic areas of his foster home to be his safe space. Drake is easily startled by unexpected sounds and quick movements, so he would not be a great fit for a home with small children. And no cats please as he learned to chase small animals in his previous life living outside. A securely fenced yard will be a must as Drake learns to be more comfortable walking on leash. Drake’s biggest need is a patient family willing to allow him the time he needs to feel confident and secure. We would love to have him work on this in his forever home to start bonding with his people. Drake’s foster mom will be available to help adopters with any questions while Drake adjusts to a new home.
