Story
Silly Millie is down for adventures, fun and cuddles! This 6 month old 45 pound lab/terrier mix is all about Love, and we mean with a capital L! Millie is a happy little girl that is hoping her forever family finds her soon as she's been waiting and looking for them! Millie did not have a wonderful start but she stayed happy and resilient throughout. She started life as a stray with her two sisters and then was in a high kill shelter. Millie and sisters were to go to another rescue in January but sadly she had an allergic reaction to her internal stitches during her spay and was left behind. She sat for two month alone unit her time was up which is when we found her and took her into Haven! She came in a bit scared and shaking but after a proper dog intro in her foster home, she was fantastic with the resident dogs from 35 to 160 pounds! Millie now plays happily every chance she gets with her furry foster siblings, loves her toys and bones, is 100% ready for snugges and kisses with her foster family including children at any time! Miss Millie is crate trained and potty trained and is doing great on leash training, as well! This adorable little doll is guaranteed to provide you with loving companionship, slobbery kisses, goofy smiles and joyful adventures! If you'd like Millie to be you cuddle muffin, please submit an application to www.HavenAnimalRescueNebraska.org ADOPTION DONATION: $400 *ALL DOGS MUST BE INSIDE COMPANION ANIMALS! Story
Looking for tall, dark, & handsome? We have your guy! Cole is a gorgeous Black Lab about 2 years old and 95 lbs. Cole starts out a bit shy with new people. He came from a situation of severe neglect and had very little socialization and human contact. Cole warms up to humans nicely if they are patient and give him a little time to trust. Treats help the process as he's a fan of snacks. Once he gets to know you Cole will spend his time attempting to fit on your lap and be your loyal BFF.    He loves hugs, and has learned an adorable trick where he will sit up and hold hands with you. Despite being an outside dog previously, Cole has mastered life inside. He is housebroken, and very well behaved inside. He free roams the house and is not destructive at all. He is kennel trained and will quietly nap there when his humans are out of the house. A fenced yard would be the best fit as Cole enjoys outside time. He walks well on leash unless something really startles him, then he’ll pull.   Cole has been great with dogs of all sizes. This gentle giant would do best in a home with older children. He is still learning about life with humans, and toddlers may be overwhelming with sudden movement and sounds. The main thing Cole requires is a family with lots of love to give! He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm tested, microchipped, and ready for his happy ever after. His adoption donation fee is $425. Story
Drake is a beautiful 1.5 year old yellow lab who was born into a life of horrors, lived in this hell hole for over a year and has now come out on the other side to know the safety of rescue. This gentle soul is in search of a very special forever home that will have the patience and love to go at Drake’s slow pace with interactions while he learns to feel love, safety and trust. Drake came to us along with 28+ other labs from a horrendous hoarding situation in Nebraska that included deceased dogs as well.  Sadly, none received any vet care, real socialization or even a shred of a normal life. When resources and food are limited in a small outdoor space, unfortunately dogs may fight to survive. Drake being extremely timid and submissive did not fare well growing up in this type of environment. We have been treating an infected wound on his leg that was down to his muscle, since January but we are beyond happy that his leg was able to be saved. Facial and body scars are healing as well, but it is taking time for Drake to build his confidence and trust. It’s all about baby steps but he is slowly making progress! We look forward to the day he will bond with a family of his own and become a possibly, timid but happy companion full of love. Until then he is very happy living with his foster family and their multiple dogs.  He even will play with the other dogs now and we will require another resident dog in his new home to help with his recovery.  Drake is a super smart boy and is crate trained and potty trained and feels secure in his favorite spots now. He will whine to tell you when he needs to go outside and although he may not come to you for a while, he sure will let you approach him to sit beside him and give him pets, attention and brushings…always with a hopeful look in his eye. He loves his food and never misses a meal and even found a type of bone he is obsessed with. All great signs of learning about life! He does not like a leash yet but we will continue trying so he will need a secure 6-foot fence. If you like walking your dog, this may never happen with Drake…time will tell. This cautious low-key boy may be a project to start but as you see the changes he works so hard for, we promise you it will fill your heart, and the rewards will be immense. We do however, ask you to recognize his needs and the time he will need to adjust to a new home and life. If you would like more information on Drake or think he may be a fit for you, please fill out an application at www.HavenAnimalRescueNebraska.org ADOPTION DONATION: $400  *ALL DOGS MUST BE INSIDE COMPANION ANIMALS! Story
People describe me as affectionate. I`m cuddly, lovable, like to give kisses and snuggle to where I seem easygoing but I can get uncomfortable easily. I may be a bit nervous as I adapt to a new environment or new people, a process that may be easier in home that has moderate to low traffic. I would also like to be the only dog in the home. However once I warm up and am comfortable, you better watch out because I`ll be ready to party.Jax is available on a first come, first served basis. To meet this pet, please come to the shelter during adoption hours, fill out a survey with your information, and then you`ll meet with an adoption coordinator who will introduce you and walk you through the adoption process.
