***Courtesy List*** Charlie is a charming 4 yr. old black lab looking for a new home.   Originally adopted from a shelter in 2022, he has been a well-loved member of the family.  Unfortunately, due to some health challenges faced by his owner, Charlie is looking for a new home that has the ability to handle his size and strength better.  Charlie is very friend and craves attention.  He loves to play fetch and play in the water.  He is neutered and current on his vaccinations.  Charlie is good with kids and other dogs.  He has never been around cats that we know of.  Charlie has been taking to some training classes.  $100 adoption fee.  All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.April 23, 2024, 9:53 am

Charlie is very energetic dog who loves people. He sometimes forgets how big he is and can be a little clumsy. He has had basic training and excels at sitting, staying, shake, and spins. Walks well with a no pull harness however fetch is not his choice of playtime. He’s done well with children around toddler age and above, we just think he needs more attention

Story
Meet Buddy!! This 2 yr old boy is a beautiful 60 lb Lab mix with good manners. He knows to use his crate as a safe space, he waits for his dinner patiently, and he is housebroken. The one area he has less patience for is waiting for love from his humans. When he sits on the couch, he uses his paw to encourage your arm to pet him.… And he’d love to lick your face if you will let him. When Buddy sees his leash, he is interested in what’s next. He likes car rides and putting his nose out the window to catch as many smells as he can. He gets along great with other dogs and children, and even ignores the cats. Our sweet Buddy was abandoned alone at a junkyard in Oklahoma when the owners moved away. He is blind in his sunken-in left eye which may have been a birth defect and he arrived to us with conjunctivitis in it. To prevent any future problems, we are having the left eye removed and stitched up. He sees great out of his other eye so don’t let that deter you. He also has wonky hips. Our vet thinks Buddy may have been hit by a car in the far past and left to let it heal on its own. Our vet is doing an x-ray to see exactly what happened in there, but he doesn’t think it will change anything. Buddy doesn’t seem to have pain and will still live a great life. As of now, the only accommodations he requires are shortened walks and minimal stairs in his new home…Though Buddy would happily not cooperate with that. Don’t stop reading, he is an amazing animal who deserves your attention! He hasn’t always known love and safety and he’s excited for a forever family! Buddy is neutered, fully vetted and vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, and ready for adoption! Adoption donation fee: $350. ***If you’re interested in Buddy, please fill out an application in the drop down menu on our website: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. All of our animals are in volunteer foster homes. Once an application is pre-approved (contingent upon a home check) we will contact applicants that are a good match and set up a time for a meet. At that time we are happy to answer all of your questions. No inquiries prior to that please. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, examined by a vet, up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. We adopt our animals as strictly inside companion pets. We will do a veterinarian reference check and a home safety check. We are located in Omaha, NE and we do not ship our animals. We are all volunteers so please be patient with us. Our requested adoption fees help go towards medical expenses, food, transportation, toys, and other supplies for our animals. We are a state licensed, 501c3 nonprofit rescue and the adoption donation may be tax deductible for you.  Thank you for choosing adoption!! April 23, 2024, 12:59 am

Story
Kahlua....whether it's a delicious drink of one of our sweetest girls it can only be described as amazingly perfect;)  Meet Kahlua a beautiful one year old thought to be Lab/Husky mix. In addition to her stunning good looks, this girl as sweet and can be and has the superhero capability of glowing! How you ask to make her glow? Attention! She adores all people and LOVES affection and wants to be the light of your life! She will be a great addition to any family.  Kahlua previously lived in a home with other dogs, cats, and children. In foster care she has enjoyed spending time with dogs of all ages and sizes. She is a bit timid when first meeting new people, but quickly warms up to be your best friend. She is a very gentle dog and would be fine with children of all ages. Kahlua is one of those great dogs that would fit in just about anywhere. She loves to be with her people and will be happy to provide all the snuggle time you could want. Kahlua would love to have a canine companion in her forever home to play with. She is used to living with other dogs, and loves romping around the yard with her foster siblings. A fenced yard would be great for her as she loves to be outside playing or relaxing on nice days. She has been doing well with her leash training and enjoys walking with her foster siblings. Kahlua has been well behaved when allowed to free roam the house but will go into a crate. When the humans leave the house for short periods of time Kahlua will relax in her room with some toys and her chew bones. She does prefer to sleep with her people at night, so if you're willing to share your bed that's a big plus! Story
Hey! Danny (DOB 9/21/2020) here! I am Lab/Staffordshire Terrier mix who's looking for a new, active home. I have been with my foster family for a while and whereas they are pretty wonderful, I am ready to leave the nest and find my own place. I am almost 3 years old now and have outgrown the puppy-mouthing phase but still love some one-on-one snuggle time on the couch with my favorite human. My crate is a cool place to hang out in when my foster fam can’t take me in the car with them, especially when I have my special bone or a puzzle to work on to keep me busy. My foster dog siblings are cool to hang out with so a dog brother or sister would be okay although being an only (dog) child would be okay too. I still don’t trust the felines and small humans though so prefer to have none of them around. And I am a little nervous meeting new people and dogs so apartment life still isn’t meant for me. New things can be a little scary but continual self-improvement is a lifelong goal of mine so who wants to learn some new things together? For example, I have learned car rides are fun and there are these things called drive throughs where people hand you yummy treats. I would love to find someone to explore some new places (i.e. drive throughs) with. I love to explore new places on walks too so we can get some exercise in together after visiting the drive throughs. Who's up for some new adventures? Before applying to adopt Danny, you need to be familiar with your local breed-specific legislation regarding Pit Bulls. Applicants must live within 50 miles of the Omaha/Council Bluffs area.  The suggested adoption donation for Danny is $250. We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes.  Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  If this pet is not spayed or neutered at the time of adoption due to limited vetting availability, a voucher will be given to the adopter for a free spay/neuter procedure at Val Verde Animal Hospital. Spay/neuters completed elsewhere will be reimbursed $80/dog or $55/cat once proof of alteration has been received by Muddy Paws. Alterations are required for all Muddy Paws adoptions. The adoption contract states alters must be done within ONE month of the adoption date or the adopter will be in breach of the contract. Adopters are required to provide proof of alteration to Muddy Paws Rescue immediately following the procedure. Thank you in advance for your compliance. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page.  ##1107116##
