Charlie is very energetic dog who loves people. He sometimes forgets how big he is and can be a little clumsy. He has had basic training and excels at sitting, staying, shake, and spins. Walks well with a no pull harness however fetch is not his choice of playtime. He’s done well with children around toddler age and above, we just think he needs more attention

Story
We adopted Dillon (previously known a Portia) from the humane society in 2015 as a puppy. She has been a puppy mill rescue. She's always been a bit weird but that's what made her so loveable. Not overly affectionate and kind of skiddish. She has been a great dog for the most part. She tends to have tummy issues that come and go. She has a pattern of going potty inside. At first we thought it was health-related so we took her to the vet several times. We now think it is a behavior for marking her territory. We now have our first child who's 10 months old and we had a close call where Dillon snipped at her. She didn't break the skin thank goodness. That was about a month ago. She loves the baby and is always following her around and playing with her so this was completely out of character. We don't want to give up our dog. But we have three dogs and a baby and Dillon is not adjusting well to the divided attention. She needs a lot of outside time and daily walks at the park

Story
Maddy was my college roommates dog. He left the country and left her here so I took her in, so she wasn’t in the pound. She is house trained and loves to cuddle. Very much an attention gal. With new dogs she will need some time to warm up with them, but once she does she’s great. Her and my other dog are best friends and play all the time. She needs a more stable forever home, and my apartment is making me get rid of her due to her breed. I want her to go to a good home.

Story
Kahlua is my 7-year-old Lab mix, and I’ve had her since she was a puppy. She has been a deeply loved part of my life, which makes this decision very difficult. I’m rehoming her because I want her to have more time, consistency, and attention than I’m currently able to give. She is sweet, affectionate, and loyal. She loves getting pets, is playful and treat-motivated, and enjoys staying active. She also loves kids once she warms up and forms strong bonds. Kahlua does have some anxiety, especially with fireworks and thunderstorms, and can be a bit destructive when overwhelmed. She has shown resource guarding behaviors with other dogs, so she would do best as the only dog in the home for now. I’m hoping to find a calm, patient home where she can feel secure, loved, and truly thrive.

Story
Meet Zeb Zeb is a 2.5-year-old male German Shorthaired Pointer , weighing about 55 lbs, who recently came into rescue and is settling into foster care. First Impressions Zeb is a more sensitive guy who is still adjusting to a new environment. He can be a bit nervous as he takes everything in, but we’re already seeing glimpses of a sweet, playful dog underneath. He’s doing well with the resident dog in his foster home and has been appropriate around cats. Personality Zeb has a softer, more cautious temperament and will benefit from a home that gives him time to build confidence. Once he starts to feel safe, he quickly becomes a “velcro” dog who wants to stay close to his people. Behavior Notes (So Far) Good with other dogs Doing well around cats House trained Nervous in new situations, but decompressing Has jumped a chain-link fence What Zeb Needs Zeb will do best in a home that: Provides structure and consistency Is patient while he continues to adjust Has a secure yard — a privacy fence or underground fence will be important given his ability to clear a chain-link fence Looking Ahead Zeb is still early in his foster placement, and we’ll continue to update his profile as we learn more. He will be available for adoption after completing his vetting, including neuter. If you are interested in giving him a permanent home, please complete our adoption application.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 22, 2026, 10:48 am

Story
Arrow has arrived and is settling nicely into foster care. We estimate he is around 10 years old, and he has already proven himself to be a devoted, affectionate companion. Arrow loves spending time with his humans and soaking up attention. He is not much of a jumper, but if you are sitting nearby there is a very good chance he will lean right into you for pets. And if you stop before he thinks the job is done, he will politely remind you with a nudge or a gentle paw. He is a fairly quiet boy. His foster family says he rarely barks. When he is in his kennel he may softly “sing the song of his people” for a bit, but he usually settles down fairly quickly. Like many pointers, Arrow is very enthusiastic about food. Meals and treats are a highlight of his day, and his foster mom says he definitely gets a little “jiggy with it” when he sees food coming his way. If you are looking for a companion who enjoys relaxing by your side, keeping you company around the house, and riding along as your car buddy, Arrow may be your guy. Arrow came to us with a reported history of seizures. Since arriving, we have completed an extensive veterinary evaluation and diagnostic testing to look for underlying causes. So far, his results have been very encouraging and nothing concerning has been identified. At this point, his veterinary team suspects the previous seizure activity may have been an isolated event, and we will continue to monitor him while he settles in, gains some much needed groceries, and enjoys life in foster care. Stay tuned for more updates about this loving boy as we continue to learn more about him.   Arrow is being fostered near Red Oak, Iowa.
