Kiwi originally came to the shelter as a puppy. She was adopted when she was two months old, and returned a year later when her family didn't have enough time for her. She's not a puppy anymore, but has entered the awkward adolescence phase: wide-eyes, long legs, energetic but shy, and still learning about the world around her. Kiwi is sweet and lovable, but she can be a bit timid and unsure about new things, so she would need a patient, loving home who will take the time to show her the ropes. She's lived with kids and was very loving towards them. She appears to be a hunting dog mix, so she can be vocal. Like a toddler, she needs to be kept busy, and she gets very attached to her people. She's learned some bad habits in her last home (like jumping on people gets her attention) so she would benefit from a basic manners class, but she's very intelligent and loves to learn.Kiwi's a very young dog with a wonderful disposition, who has her whole life in front of her. She would make a wonderful addition to almost any home. She loves treats, toys, and attention, and once she meets you, she'll love you, too!

I adopted Roper back in 2014 when I got out of the Army. He was 4 months and he’s been my sidekick for a long long time. In the last 5-6 years I’ve moved 3 times and had a child and since my son has been alive my dog has had a jealously issue with him to where I’m not comfortable with him around my son due to it. He’s a great dog he’s lovable, loves everyone, loves treats and be lazy but when it comes to my son being around he recluses and his behavior changes. He’s 12 now and I feel like he would be a lot happier in a better situation for him. I love him dearly but it’s for the best to find him a better living situation. If you feel like having an old soul doggo who’s very well behaved, quiet, likes to be lazy and chill Roper is your guy! PS he’s also struggling with the stairs in my house pretty bad :(

Meet 5m old Bear found abandoned with a hole in his face and a necrotic tail full of worms. He now has a permanent scar with no hair there and his tail was amputated. After he was rescued (otherwise he would have died from his wounds) we found out his entire family was abandoned--all had distemper!
