Story
Meet Copper (3 yrs, 58 lbs, fully vetted, and finally looking like someone who no longer needs a “please feed me” sign). Copper came in skinny, beat up, and shaped a little like a question mark — as in “why has life been like this?” We’ve been rebuilding him behind the scenes with good food, medical care, and time to feel safe again. Now he’s fully vetted and finally adoption-ready… and he sat with Santa like he was calmly explaining, “Sir, I believe I qualify for back-pay on good boy hours.” Copper is: • genuinely good with other dogs • a kid favorite • calm, steady, unbothered • the kind of dog who would help your grandma carry in groceries if he had thumbs There’s nothing dramatic about him — he’s just a solid, class-act dog who deserves an upgrade after getting the short end of every stick so far. If you want a dog who will sit next to Santa and look like he’s negotiating his benefits package… Copper is your guy. 📍 Brown County Humane Society Dog Shelter 🐾 Apply here: bchsohio.org/adoption-application

Story
Megan has faced significant challenges in her life. After living as a stray for weeks, she was finally trapped and rescued. She was incredibly thin and understandably scared. Beneath her anxiety, Megan is a gentle and loving soul who just needs a little extra care and patience. With the right person to guide her and help her build trust, she can begin to feel safe and secure in this new world.

Story
RCHS does not conduct DNA tests on dogs who enter our facility therefore we are unable to guarantee breed or breed mix. Information provided by shelter staff, volunteers, and veterinarians is used to give a best estimate as to a dog’s breed make up. We do our best to inform adopters about the potential breeds for each dog.We are a dog only facility so we do not know how most of our dogs will be with cats. Even if a dog is surrendered to us and said to be good with cats there is no way to be sure the dog will be good with your cats. We do have a 7 day foster-to-adopt program so that you can see how the dog interacts with your cats before adoption.

Story
SNOWBIRD is our new Chia Pet! We're waiting for her hair to grow back to see what she really looks like! Snowbird is a delightful girl with the most charming, outgoing personality. Sadly she was so infested with fleas that she suffered significant hair loss. The fleas are gone, she's had proper vet care and good nutrition. Her skin is healed up and now she has peach fuzz growing in. So far she appears to be a white dog with tan spots. Our best guess on breed is a labrador retriever/Australian cattle dog type mix. Snowbird is 1 year old and fully grown at 36 pounds. We can't say enough good things about Snowbird, she charms everyone she meets. If you need a daily dose of sunshine in your life, Snowbird can help. If you'd like to meet Snowbird, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Snowbird at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate. Our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed and current on flea and tick and heartworm prevention.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 31, 2025, 10:43 pm
