Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Gunner. He is a yellow labrador Retriever who was born in May 2021. He weighs 57lbs and has a medium-length hair coat. Gunner was transferred to our Rescue where the opportunity for adoption is much greater here.     Gunner is a very happy active boy. He requires stimulation as he is on the move a great deal of the day. He loves playing with other dogs, especially chasing. He is very fast and will try and herd the other dog/dogs he is playing with. Gunner is very social with children and people. He was in foster care at another rescue since he was 4 months old but never found the right family. Gunner is astute and has excellent recall. He would benefit and excel from obedience classes. He rides well in a vehicle and loves car rides. Gunner needs work and practice walking on a lead and body harness. He has a 1/4 acre, fully fenced area, to run on at his foster home so is not used to going for walks. He would do fine in a home with older children as the younger ones, he would bowl over accidentally when he gets playful. The ideal home for Gunner is one where the family includes him in their outdoor activities. He needs to be able to run a good hour or perhaps go on a good long hike when it's not hot out. He requires mental stimulation so leaving him home with some toys won't work for this boy at his age. He is still a big puppy but housebroken. Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Kit Kat. She is one of 8 puppies born to Mommy Ellie on October 18. There are 5 girls and 3 boys in this litter. Ellie was rescued already Pregnant from a high-kill shelter. She had come in as a stray with a large pure black lab. We believe looking at these pups, that is who the father of the litter is. We believe this litter will reach 60 lbs plus when fully grown. They have thick, shiny coats. The entire litter has wonderful affectionate personalities. Currently, they are similar in all aspects. This entire litter is extremely affectionate and loves to be held and cuddled. They will be high-energy dogs based on their breed mixes. They have huge appetites and have been fed Royal Canin Medium Breed Puppy Food. They eat extremely fast, just like labs tend to do. They are fed every 4 hours during the day. They are a very busy breed mix and are currently stimulated with toys. They are paper trained and get warm quite easily. They give kisses but are very squiggly when trying to hold them. Kit Kat, according to our wonderful photographer, was the most demanding dog she ever had to photograph because she wouldn't sit still. This is typical of this breed mix as you will read further down but she is so loving. Her herding skills also kicked in as there were people in the kitchen her sister behind the gate and the photographer on the floor. She wanted everyone in one spot, she just didn't realize it. She's a real sweetheart so definitely will need another dog in the home to help keep her from getting bored. Her fur is slightly longer than her siblings They love the soft squeaky toys and are so excited when their foster family is in with them. They are not the greatest in the bath but are getting used to it. They are always on the go. Labraheelers are naturally vocal dogs that will bark and they will bark a lot, especially when not left alone or when they miss their long walk and have the energy that needs to be used in some way. Barking may be a solution for a Labraheeler to keep himself or herself busy for some time but for your neighbors, this may not be a pleasant experience. That is another reason why Labraheeler dogs are not recommended for people who live in a city apartment. This litter is currently very social and its adopters will need to continue to do so. Mommy Ellie is a very social cattle dog which is not the norm for her breed so that is a bonus for this litter genetically. Kit Kat had her first set of vaccines on Dec 13 including Bordetella. She was microchipped and weighed 4.98 kg. UPDATE: She had her 2nd set of vaccines including Lepto on Jan 23. Her weight is 8.4 kg. UPDATE: She had her 3rd set of vaccines including Rabies on Feb 2. Her weight is 12.3kg. A fully fenced yard or farm is mandatory to apply for Kit Kat. A playful resident dog in the home is mandatory to help with releasing some of her energy level and to teach her the dynamics of the home. Hey, everyone, I`m Presley!I`m an adorable 1 year old lab mix and I weigh just over 50 pounds. I have the prettiest white markings but am mostly black in color. I came to the shelter about a week ago and was super scared when I got here but am gradually getting used to my human and fur friends. I got to play in two different dog/dog playgroups today and I had so much fun with a couple of my buddies that stay with me here.Since I am still a bit shy and unsure of my surroundings, I would do best in more of a quiet home with not a lot going on. If you do have children, it would be better if they were older and not as rough playing with me.
