Story
Hi everyone, my name is Lucas, but sometimes my friends call me Leo. I am a great Pyrenees mix born approx 6/6/24.  I was picked up as a stray in Arkansas, and I am about 51 pounds and done growing. In a world of too-big or too-small dogs, I am the perfect size for fun! Big enough to hike, play fetch, and run, small enough to cuddle on your lap on the couch. They think I am somewhere between 11-18 months old, and while I still have some puppy-like energy to burn off, I also know how to calm down and chill.    I love other dogs- on walks, I whine to say hi and ask to play- but most of all I LOVE people. Some might say I love exuberantly, especially on first meeting, where I greet everyone with wagging tail and jumps of excitement- although I have been told I need to work on the jumping thing. After I settle into a routine, I don't jump as much unless we introduce new friends to the mix!   When I want to go outside, I sit like a gentleman at the door. I am fantastic on a leash. I generally like to lead, but I try not to pull, and I will try to match your pace, whether that is slow to be careful of ice or speed walking. I might also make a good running partner, although my current people aren't really runners. I also like to get my business done all in one shot, and don't feel the need to mark every tree and bush. Even though I hale from Arkansas, I sure to love the snow and cold weather.   I love to play, fetch balls, tug on ropes, and chew on my Nylabone. I especially love stuffies- sometimes a little too much, to the point that I start unstuffing them. On occasion, I find non-toy objects in my house and proudly bring them to you- a plastic box, a dryer ball, even a whole roll of toilet paper.   I tend to be a pretty quiet dude. I bark to let you know someone is at the door, and if I see something fun out the window, I may whine a bit. If I need to stay in my crate but I can still hear you around the house, I will whine, cry, and lament the fact that I can't be with you. However, if you leave the house, I tend to be pretty quiet in the crate. I must admit that I can get a little loud when I am playing with my fur brother, especially when he has had enough and I want to keep going. But then my mom gives me a bone, and I quiet down. Speaking of the kennel I can sleep in there all night with no problem, but I would prefer sleeping at the foot of my people's bed. No dog beds required for me, as I have a habit of dismantling them if I get bored (I mean, they ARE just a really big stuffie, right?)   I am told I am smart and treat motivated- and they are right! I can sit and down with the right motivation, and I take treats with a very soft mouth. I am working on leave it and drop it with good progress, but I am a little stumped on stay (I am just too excited and impatient for that at this point.)   Now I should admit to a few negatives; a guy can't be perfect. I have a tendency to check out the kitchen counter to see if you were silly enough to leave something out for me- I mean, thanks for the treat! I also have a problem with chasing the cat. I am not aggressive, I just want to play with them, but the cat doesn't seem to see it that way, and if the cat hides, I instinctively seek so they can't get away.   Hope to meet you really soon!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Introducing Kit: part Great Pyrenees, part Doberman, and 100% professional weirdo. She’s about two years old, has legs for days, and a nose that works overtime like a tiny detective on an endless case. Kit has gone from “stranger danger” mode to “sniff your hair while you’re watching Netflix” mode, and that’s what we call progress.   Her daily routine is very official: three laps around her kennel like an Olympic track star before dinner, followed by stealing the couch or your bed because, honestly, she’s royalty and crates are for peasants. She’s learning that humans = belly rub dispensers, and she’s totally here for it.   Kit is a huge fan of dogs, though she sometimes comes in a little too hot on first introductions (think: bossy camp counselor vibes). Once she knows who’s in charge, she’s good to go, and she’s the best babysitter for puppies. What she is not into? Cats, chickens, birds, squirrels, or basically anything small and fluffy that isn’t her designated sibling. For those, her prey drive kicks in and—let’s just say—it’s a hard no.   She’s obsessed with running, but luckily, she’s not a fence-jumper. A nice sturdy yard is her dream stage for zoomies. When she’s not sprinting, she’s all about long walks, soft toys, and claiming furniture like it’s her birthright. She’ll even listen to “leave it” when she’s yelling at the neighbors, which is basically the dog version of good manners.   Kit is still a little shy at first, but once she warms up, you’ll find a goofy, loyal, slightly dramatic best friend who makes the small victories (like coming when called) feel like winning the lottery. She’s been waiting long enough—this couch hog is ready to claim your couch and, more importantly, your heart.       Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Meet Marsh, a Great Pyrenees born approx 7/10/23, and the sweetest little love bug you will ever meet. He is the perfect size for any lap, coming in at 25 lbs., and that is one of his favorite places to be. He is definitely an old soul, wise beyond his years, with a calm, assessing demeanor. He may be white, but he is definitely my little shadow following close behind me as I move through the house. He just wants to stay close, which can be a tripping issue at times, because he is just so quiet you forget he is at your feet. He is laidback and mostly just likes to snuggle up with you or sometimes even behind your head on the back of the couch. He also has a habit of chasing and catching his tail, it is the cutest thing! He has been great with meeting new friends of both the human and dog variety. He does well with his two larger foster brothers, but really lit up and tried to play when we met a friend who was more his size. He has not been cat tested, but given his calm demeanor, I don't think it would be a problem. He has picked up a few toys, but they haven't really held his interest too long, although I think he might get there if you take the time to entice him to play. He LOVES treats, and he is smart. He figured out quickly that he gets a treat for coming back inside on his own, so now he tries to sneak out and then come back in right away to get a second one! We have had no accidents in the house so far, and he goes all night without needing a bathroom break. We haven't worked too much on training yet, but I think he will take to it quickly due to his food motivation. Overall, he is pretty quiet, although he doesn't love being crated and can make some noise about that but seems pretty trustworthy and non-destructive when left to his own devices free in the house. He usually chooses to sleep at my feet in the office even when he has the freedom to be go other places. He came here with a few cuts and scrapes that are now healing up nicely, and he hasn't been touchy about me checking them or touching his feet, ears, or tail. He is just looking for a little love and a place to call his very own. Could that be with you? Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue.
