You can vote once a day but on multiple devices. http://bit.ly/dpswinky Adoption Fee: $700   Piper is an 8 year old Lhasa Apso mix who was rescued from a local overflowing shelter. This gal came right to the front of her enclosure with a wag in her tail and soulful eyes, so we absolutely couldn’t say no to saving her! She is the perfect package all wrapped up with an adorable underbite! Piper has a gorgeous non-shedding coat which means she will require regular grooming. She is an option for those with allergies or those who just want less hair around the house.    Below is a note from Piper’s foster.  “Piper is a goofy, friendly, loving and energetic dog who has been an absolute joy since day one! She has an adorable underbite which gives her a perpetual smile, making it hard to resist giving her anything and everything she desires! She is adventurous in her quest to sniff all the good smells in the world but still likes to end her day curled up in a soft dog bed. She is playful and will happily chase after her toys, but when she wants a break she will nudge her head into your hand for endless pets. She is an absolutely perfect gal who will be a fabulous addition to any home!  Piper starts her day at 7 AM and goes outside for a potty break. She has breakfast around 8:30 AM and then spends her days snoozing on soft blankets and beds around the house. She gets an afternoon walk and she loves sniffing her way through the neighborhood. After her walk, she spends some time playing with her foster home before she has dinner at 6 PM. In the evening, she cuddles with us before heading to bed around 9 AM.  Piper gets along well with other dogs when she meets off-leash. She needs a slow introduction to new people and reacts best to people who are willing to work through her Napoleon complex. Once she gets to know her people, she will be nothing but loving forever. Piper would do best in a home where there is less chaos, so older kids only.”   Piper needs a home with prior experience so she can best thrive. She would do best with a home ready to continue her training and exposure to the world. Kids should be over the age of 15.  May 28, 2024, 2:53 pm

Love was rescued from the shelter. We have absolutely no idea how a girl as amazing as her landed in the pound but we knew she was coming home with us as soon as we laid eyes on her. Love has a fabulous non-shedding coat that is as soft as a cloud. She will require regular grooming and is an option for those with allergies or who want less hair around the house. She’s ready to bring so much joy and happiness to a lucky family!    Love is a goofy, loving, and adorable gal who has the biggest heart in the world. Her favorite place to be? On her belly as you give her rubs. She loves to park herself right next to you as you work, so she will be an amazing WFH buddy. If you aren’t giving her attention, she is happy to curl up next to you and get her nap on. She is SUCH a happy dog, who loves to smile and meet new people. She also has an amazing party trick where she dances for treats, which never ceases to amuse her captive audience! Love enjoys playing with other dogs and is often found zooming around the yard playing a game of tag. Love is the perfect blend of energy, she is playful when you want to play but a couch potato when you are ready to unwind. Love is so sociable and just radiates joy. She would love a home where she can continue living her best life full of love and light. She hopes that home will be you!  Love starts her morning at 7 AM and goes right outside for a potty session. She comes inside for breakfast and then spends some time lounging with her foster sister as her foster family gets ready for the day. During the day, Love loves to be with her foster family, going on errands and checking out the world. She gets a walk in the early evening before she has her dinner which she happily digs into. In the evening, Love soaks up some cuddles and kisses as she lounges on the couch. She loves to curl up on a lap or a soft blanket on her belly. After one last trip outside, she curls up in bed with her foster mama and drifts off to sleep.  Love gets along with other dogs and is being fostered with a canine sibling right now. She loves people, especially once she discovered they had an endless supply of treats and pets for her. She walks well on a leash and politely greets her neighborhood pals on her path. Love does well with her housetraining as long as she has access to the outdoors. It is impossible not to fall in love with Love!    Love is an option for any home, regardless of prior dog owning experience. She would be an amazing option for a first-time home. Kids in the home should be over the age of 6.May 28, 2024, 2:53 pm

Story
10 year old, 15 lb BLIND Lhasa Apso Mix SPAYED FEMALE for ADOPTION  Meet Zucchini Produce !     Zucchini is a ~10 year old Lhasa Apso mix that comes to us from Contra Costa Animal Services.     UPDATE 5/12/24 -- She had glaucoma and dry eye and recently had both eyes removed -- photos will be updated by this weekend   She is a huge fan of Puppachinos and she gets a bite or two after a long week of eating healthy. She is really good about taking any meds in some wet food. She also loves the sound of her own voice so an apartment would not be the best setting for her long term.     This is what her foster mom has to say about this sweet girl -   'Zucchini is a very active dog. She’s a good girl, very sweet and she loves praise. All she wants to do is play with the other dogs in her foster home. She can be pushy and doesn’t know the meaning of boundaries. We highly recommend training classes to help her learn manners and succeed. She’s super happy and loves to go on walks. Once she sees the leash in your hand she gets crazy happy.     She will follow you everywhere if she loves you. She’s not a Velcro dog but she wants to be close enough to you to see you. She loves to give you kisses and receiving lots of belly rubs in return. She HATES staying the kennel and can be very vocal. Car rides are not a favorite of hers either but she’s learning.   We don’t recommend a home with cats because she will chase them. Since she needs help learning her limits, older children in the home is also recommended. She freely uses the potty pads and if taken out she will do her business. She has not yet learned to go out on her own.    Her foster mom says she is spoiled and likely lived in a home who did not give her any boundaries or make her share. She needs to learn boundaries and that the world does not revolve around Zucchini -- as in she came to live at your home and not the other way around   Zucchini is being fostered in the Sac Area in Northern CA.   If you are interested in adding this pretty pup to your family, please send us a detailed email to beourpet@gmail.com If you are unable to adopt but would like to help, please ***SHARE THIS POST***  GENERAL INFO:   Housebroken?: Yes, we think so Crate Trained?: HATES THEM Leash Trained?: Yes but needs practice Rides Well in Car?: Yes Non-Shedding?: Low to no shed Good with cats?: Probably not Good with dogs?: Yes but only if they will play and allow her to be the boss Qualifies for Seniors for Seniors?: yes Umbrella of Hope does not have any strict rules on ages of children because all children are different, but our best approximation is that this animal would do best with children over the age of 12 Umbrella of Hope is an all-volunteer, donation-run, non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals from local shelters, places them in private foster homes, provides them with needed medical care and then finds them new homes.  Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee. Story
Ozzy is a great little dude! He’s great on walks, other dogs and children. He’s the calmest dog I’ve ever met in my life and absolutely perfect for someone looking for a buddy to just lounge around with. He could sleep ALL day if you’d let him and is fairly low maintenance. Unfortunately, I’ll be leaving to college in two months and bringing him is not an option.
