Hi, I’m Gator ??I’m a 3-year-old Lhasa Apso mix who was found wandering the streets and brought to the shelter by the NYPD. When I first arrived, I was in pretty rough shape — extremely matted, dirty, and clearly not feeling my best. After a good shave and some veterinary care, I’m already feeling a lot more comfortable.While at the vet, I was treated for an ear infection and also had an umbilical hernia repaired. The vet noted that my body condition score is 3.5 out of 9, which means I’m quite skinny right now and need some time, good food, and care to get back to a healthy weight. I also have grade 1 out of 4 bilateral MPL, which means my kneecaps are a little loose but currently mild.Because of everything I’ve been through, I can be a bit growly and unsure of people. I haven’t bitten anyone, but it’s something my future adopter should be aware of. I will need an experienced dog owner who understands that trust takes time and is willing to move slowly and patiently while I adjust.For my comfort and safety, I should not go to a home with children.With the right person — someone calm, experienced, and patient — I have the potential to feel safe again and show the dog I can become.If you’re someone who understands dogs that need a little extra time and guidance, I’d like the chance to meet you ???Gator is neutered, dewormed, microchipped and is up to date with vaccines. His adoption fee is $500.00, plus $8.50 for the dog license if you are a resident of NYC. Gator will also get one free exam with one of our participating veterinarians within 30 days of his adoption.If you`d like to meet him please visit, we`re conveniently located in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn near the F train (Ft Hamilton Pkwy) and the B16 bus. Story
Scrooge is a 1.5yo 15lb Lhasa Apso mix. He’s dog and older kid friendly. He’s housebroken when kept on a schedule, will wear a belly band in the house and is crate trained. He’s used to a secure fenced in yard so will need some work for harness leashed walks when going places. He’s super sweet loves attention from humans and dogs. He has puppy energy, loves to play with toys and other dogs. Scrooge’s foster requires a home with a secure fenced in yard, another playful dog his size or larger, regular grooming every 6-8 weeks along with people to give leadership, consistency, structure and to continue working on training. If your home DOES NOT meet these requirement’s please DO NOT put an application in. We will not call anyone whose home does not meet the needed requirements. Also, we will be concentrating on local to foster applications 1st since home checks and meets with all humans and animals in home is needed at meet. Our fosters are all volunteers so aren’t always able to travel too far. Scrooge as all dogs should have at least 2 weeks in their new home with just their people who live in the home and to not have people over for at least 2 weeks. Dogs need time to settle in and adjust to their new people and environment first so they can learn to trust them first. Scrooge is neutered, vaccinated, HW negative and microchipped.
