Story
Grooming Required SPECIAL NEEDS - Poppy is a small, special needs Maltese mix girl who is looking for a home with experience and patience.  Poppy is a physically healthy dog, but unfortunately because of major trauma she has experienced as a pup, she is very fearful of people and new situations.  Once her trust is earned she becomes very bonded and a loving companion, but it would take time and experience to gain her trust. Poppy would do best in a home that has had experience with fearful dogs like her and understands she is a very sensitive dog who will need patience and time to bond. Poppy is not social and does not do well in social situations, she is not a dog that would enjoy outings to unknown places or people.   Because she has hair and not fur she will require a special groomer every month that is not situated in a salon environment, as this would traumatize her.  Poppy does well with other dogs and cats and is a very active dog, with lots of energy who would enjoy a house with a fenced in yard.  But she will settle down when inside her home and prefers sleeping in bed with you.  Poppy does not do well in a crate as that is a trigger due to her trauma.   Poppy's preferred home would be a younger quiet retired couple with no children living in the home. She is not an aggressive dog but she is not confident either and will need lots of attention and time to help her feel safe.  It's sad that her short life had been full of fear and trauma, but this little special needs girl is looking for the right adopters to give her a furrever home Poppy is looking for a home in the Bay area.  As a special needs dog we would prefer a local adoption.  If you think you can give this special girl the experienced home she needs, please contact her foster mom at lvscats2002@yahoo.com  September 17, 2023, 12:21 am

Story
Riley  is super sweet, cuddly, playful. Energy Level?  Low to Medium depending on play time.  Riley  goes with the flow House trained?  Semi Describe how they are on leash?  He is pretty good on leash.  Sometimes, he walks a little wonky and tangles you up with his leash. But, I am walking three dogs at one time. Describe how they are with other dogs?  He’s great with other dogs. One of mine is not the most welcoming, and I even caught them playing a few times. I think he loves other dogs and would enjoy having a playmate or just going to the dog park and playing with a Pups. Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they?  N/a Commands they know?  He listens, but I don’t know if he knows any commands. When I called his name, he comes or stops what he’s doing. But I would say no. What are their favorite things?  Food, playing and being around people and/or other dogs. What do they need to work on?  Marking, He also howls a bit at night because I leave him downstairs by himself  How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone?  He seems to be fine left alone. However, I had him in a pen, so I don’t know where his curiosity would take him. But I’ve never noticed any chewing on anything or getting into things he shouldn’t supposed to be. He definitely misses us, after a while Where do they sleep?  In a pen with his carrier with a bed inside. He mainly stays inside that carrier with the bed, but I have an additional bed that he can come out and lay on. He would love to sleep with his human. What is their ideal home?  Someone that could give him attention all the time and go on him like he deserves. I know he loves going on walks and being outside. And I do believe he enjoys other dogs and playing with them. He just deserve to be spoiled. September 10, 2023, 2:11 am

Story
Looks like: Maltese / Shih Tzu mix Female, 5 years old (estimated), 10 pounds This energetic little ball of fluff has a zest for life that is absolutely contagious and will surely put a big smile on your face! Adelaide (or Addie for short) is a very happy, super loving, tremendously sweet, and hugely attentive lady. She is ready for outdoor adventures and is an excellent motivator for fast-paced walks. Addie does well around other dogs and gets especially excited when meeting new human friends. She enjoys playing with respectful kids, but may be a bit too rambunctious at times for small children. We are not sure yet how she would behave around cats. On car rides, she agrees to be leashed to the back seat where she can get right behind the center console, although she would prefer to be in someone's lap at all times. She is calm when home alone every now and then, but she definitely prefers to be around her people as much as she can. During goofy spurts of playfulness, she loves to show off with her stuffed toys and puts on a big show, shaking them, throwing, and chasing them! We are so pleased to see Adelaide blossoming in her foster home as she came to us from a hoarding situation where her care was neglected. She insists on not being stuck inside of a kennel ever again and is eager to join her forever family where she can soak up loads of loving attention.September 18, 2023, 12:07 am

Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $1000   Donatello is a 4 month old Maltipoo mix who was surrendered to our rescue with his brother, Michaelangelo. Even though they look like cotton balls, we promise that adorable puppies are under all that soft and gorgeous hair. The pair are hypoallergenic with non-shedding coats which makes them an option for those with allergies or who just want less hair in the house.   Below is a note from their foster.    “Donatello is such a smart little guy. While his brother is more go go go, he sits back and thinks before jumping into action. He is a huge cuddler and loves to curl up in our laps when he wants attention. He loves meeting new people, loves meeting dogs, and has been a total sweetie. He is what you think of when you think of a perfect puppy.    The boys wake up at 7 AM and head right outside to go potty. They come inside for breakfast and then spend some time chasing each other around the backyard and playing with their toys. They take a nap and then romp around the backyard exploring. The world is big for these little guys! They have lunch and then spend time playing inside during the heat of the afternoon, amusing us with their antics. They have dinner at 6:30 PM and then we spend more time with them, playing and cuddling until bedtime which is at 10:30   We have had a fantastic time with these boys. They show us more of their goofy personality every day, but our favorite quirk of theirs is sleeping on their backs with their legs sticking up like a dead bug after they have had a long day of play.” Donatello is only an option for those who have owned a dog in the past 5 years. Homes should be prepared to discuss their plans for grooming. Kids in the home should be over the age of 8. September 24, 2023, 2:22 pm
