Story
Looks like: Maltese mix Female, 8 years old (estimated), 13 pounds Dottie is a very gentle and mellow little lady who will immediately invite anyone she meets to give her belly rubs or pick her up. And who could ever resist petting her silky and beautiful coat? Her natural black lipstick is probably one of her most adorable features, along with her serious snoring and wild REM dreams. In spite of her blindness, she navigates her surroundings amazingly well, although she needs a bit of a guiding hand on slow leashed walks in unknown territory. This sweet girl gets excited when she catches a whiff of another dog nearby, then follows her nose to go sniffing for them. She can be a bit clumsy and may accidentally bump into other dogs, sometimes to the surprise of all involved. She does not have any known experience with small children and would prefer to live in a calm and predictable household. Miss Dottie has tons of joy and love to share and is looking for human companions who will make her golden years extra special and are understanding of her needs. She would like you to know that car rides make her pretty nervous and being left home alone makes her anxious. She would love to find someone who is equally content spending lots of quality snuggle time at home, would enjoy toddling around the yard together, or going for slow strolls in the surrounding neighborhood. This 13+ pound nugget needs to get picked up and carried around a bit and she would also appreciate continued potty training. Her foster family likes to brush her luxurious curls every day and, above all, just love her to pieces. Dottie came to us from Hollister Animal Services so that she could get the medical care she needs.

Story
Looks like: Maltese, Poodle Mix Male, 14 years old (estimated), 19 pounds Buddy Boy is looking for his forever pal. Could that be you? Buddy is a gentle senior fellow who is a little hard of hearing and starting to lose his eye sight, but if you lay a blanket or towel down on the couch, he will see that as his spot and is ready to cuddle up and nap the day away! Buddy does great around other dogs and has lived with many canine companions over the years. He used to live with a cat as well. He has also lived with children, but in his senior years, he prefers a quieter home and would love to find someone with whom he can share a peaceful retirement. He loves riding in the car and gets short spurts of zoomies, running around with his soft toys! Buddy can be quite nervous in new situations and meeting new people, so slow and gentle greetings are a must. But he loves people! Once he's met you and gotten some snuggles, you're in his circle! He'll follow you around asking for pets and will even paw at you for attention. Sadly, Buddy Boy's senior guardian recently passed away after being together for the past 14 years. He came to POMDR to find his next cuddle buddy.

Story
Looks like: Maltese, Havanese mix Male, 10 years old (estimated), 11 pounds Hello there, I'm Caspian, and I'm here to share my story with you. While I may not see the world as most dogs do, I've learned to navigate it with grace and a heart full of love. You see, I may be sight-impaired, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying life to the fullest. When it comes to leash walks, I may not be the most coordinated, but I do my best, taking in the scents and sounds around me with every step. One thing you should know about me is that I'm a true friend to all creatures, both big and small. I get along with other dogs and even those mysterious creatures called cats. I'm always ready to shower my affection on anyone who opens their heart to me. My energy level is on the mellow side, but don't let that fool you-I have my moments of excitement, especially when I'm out on a 'sniffari', exploring the world with my nose. I'm not super-interested in toys, but I'm always up for a good snuggle session. And speaking of snuggling, I'm a pro at it! There's nothing I love more than curling up next to my favorite human for some quality cuddle time. And treats? Well, let's just say I'm not one to turn down a tasty snack, especially if it's offered with a kind word and a gentle touch. So, what's my ideal day? It's simple, really-snoozing in a comfy bed, enjoying exploring my surroundings with my nose, and basking in the love of my forever family. If you're looking for a gentle soul to join your home, I just might be the perfect fit. With my easygoing personality and sweet nature, I'm ready to bring joy and companionship to your life. So why wait? Come meet me, and let's start our journey together! I came to join Peace of Mind after first landing at the Hollister Animal Shelter but they thought Peace of Mind could best address my medical needs.

Story
Looks like: Shih Tzu/Terrier mix Female, 12 years old (estimated), 15 pounds Pecan is almost too cute to be real! This little love is ready to find a home to call her own. Ambivalent to other dogs, Pecan is more of a nut about getting cuddles and a cozy corner to curl up in than having play time. We're not sure how she is with kids or cats, but her mellow demeanor suggests she will do well with respectful representatives of either group! Pecan was found as a stray and taken to Hitchcock Road Animal Services, where they found she was in need of some real TLC and medical care.

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $650 Violin is a 1 year old Maltese x Poodle mix who is ready to start up a concert with his forever home! Violin went solo after his former home was moving and decided they didn’t have room for him in the band anymore. Well, we couldn’t let a guy as handsome as Violin hang out in a dark shelter, this boy is meant for the stage! Violin gave his rescuer little kisses from the second we got a collar on him and his life has only been on an upramp since! We can’t wait for him to find his conductor and start living his absolute best life. Violin weighs 16 pounds.     Violin is the kind of dog who will blossom as he gets to know you, and you will get the joy of seeing that love bloom! After a few days, Violin started showing us his curious and loving sides that we have been delighted by. While we don’t know his backstory, we know that he deserves only the best from here. Violin loves to dance, prance, and wiggle his body whether or not there is music playing. He just wants to dance like nobody's watching! Violin is a total velcro dog who is looking for his new human best friend, so if you are looking for a forever pal, he is your dude. If you go out and come home, prepare for the happiest zoomies in the world! Violin is a perfect mix of active and lazy. He loves a good romp outside when he is in the mood but when he is done, he can plop down and nap with the best of them. Violin can even be a yoga buddy as he does the best downward dog stretches whenever he wakes up from a nap. Truly what more could you ask for!  Violin wakes up at 7 AM and goes right outside for a potty break. He can hold his bladder for 8-9 hours at night and adjusts into a routine in about a week. After he goes potty he comes right inside for breakfast During the day, Violin loves to lounge around the house as you work. He would be an amazing WFH companion as he just wants to chill out and be with you. Violin loves pets and will snuggle close to you when he decides it is time for attention. He loves investigating and romping around the backyard during the day, checking out all the sights and smells the grass has to offer. He is still getting used to the leash but we know he will be walking like a champ in no time. Violin gets his dinner at 5 PM and then he spends his evening cuddled up as he sniffs out some toys. He goes out for one last potty break around 10 PM and then he heads into his crate where he happily sleeps through the night.  Violin lives with another dog and they coexist happily. He would do well as a companion dog as long as there is a polite introduction. Violin will need both obedience and socialization training to ensure he continues growing into a confident adult pup. We know this boy will be such a fabulous companion for his new people, he just needs the chance to shine. Violin would thrive in a home where he can slowly get adjusted to his new life. If you give him the chance to show you how awesome he is, you will earn the love of an amazing dog. This string player will be super in your forever home!   Violin is only an option for homes who have prior dog experience, especially those experienced with shy dogs. Kids in the home should be over the age of 12. May 24, 2024, 10:00 pm
