Adoption Donation   $    399               Located:   MS      (Transportation costs included to the Northeast , plz ask for more details )    Age: approx   8   years old     Weight:   lbs Mozart found himself alone at a dumpster down south hiding from the big scary world! Thankfully someone saw him hiding there and found a rescue to take him. He is very nervous right now but he is learning that not all humans are bad.  If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information:  friendsoha@yahoo.com Please verify the location and readiness of this dog with us.  Because we save lives from various locations through out the United States, some dogs may not be in New England yet, nor ready for immediate adoption.   Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt.  From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit.  If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) reserves the right to deny any adoption application with or without disclosure of cause. Your adoption fee helps to cover the cost of all age appropriate vetting and transportation. FOHARI.ORG makes no explicit or implicit guarantees in reference to the health, temperament and/or the breed of the animal. The animal is adopted ‘as is’, and the adopter assumes all responsibility for treatment of any and all existing conditions or any other conditions of physical or temperament changes that may occur. FOHARI.ORG will provide the animal with the basic vaccines, heart worm test and sterilization of dogs and cats before adoption if the age and current health of the animal permits. While FOHARI.ORG makes every effort to place only healthy animals, FOHARI.ORG cannot guarantee the health of any animal, and shall not be held responsible for any medical expenses that may be incurred. Rescuer will provide information received from the veterinarian exam, observations on the temperament of the animal and a best guess of the breed. Friends of Homeless Animals Inc. Story
We are happy to introduce Angel, a Maltipoo recently arrived to Rhode Island!  She has been through a lot, arriving at a Houston, TX shelter in rough shape, but she has gotten the attention she needs...shaved of her mats, spayed, a lung infection treated....and will be a beauty once her coat grows back!  She was someone's loved pet at some point, and once she gets back in that setting shines with rays of joy.  We have seen that ourselves, going from a cowering dog in the shelter too shut down to even seek attention, shifting to vibrant simply by being relocated to the home of her Texas foster that very same day.  Angel is gentle, affectionate and very sweet, only wanting to be by your side.   She pays very good attention to her people without being overbearing, LOVES to go on walks, or simply to bask in the comfort of a dog bed.  She is easy to handle, gets along with kids, dogs and cats,  but does not need other pets for company.  With other dogs, she is no pushover and knows how to assert herself, but once settled in lives with them harmoniously.  She's roughly seven years of age, so either middle aged or a very young senior, which much life left in front of her, although as is true of all dogs of a certain age, more veterinary care and expense can be expected....true of all dogs, but with these older ones it just comes sooner.  With frequent out times, she is ok with her housebreaking, but will need patience as she settles into a routine.  All set to go, if you have questions or would like an application, please reach out to Lucy at maramuser@gmail.com.  Southpaws' adoption fee is kept reasonable at $450, but we unfortunately cannot adopt to Massachusetts or New Hampshire residents due to state restrictions.

Story
Lily is a sweet nine or ten-year-old Maltese. She lost her home when her owner died. She only has a few teeth, so she will have to eat canned food from now on. She loves eating the Farmer's Dog food that was recently donated to us, and seems to love all canned food and deli turkey. She came into our care with what we believe to be her sister, and both pups are in a great foster home. Their foster mom has observed that in a home environment, the pups do not seem bonded, and in fact, will fight over food, so she thinks they would be happiest in separate homes. Lily is good on a leash and enjoys walks, but is also happy running around our fenced area and enjoys being carried and held. Lilly weighs about 7 lbs. Lily can be very pushy with other dogs, so we think she would be happiest as an only dog. She loves sleeping in bed with her foster mom now that she is settled in. She does startle easily, which we think might be due to her losing some of her hearing. Lily always poops and pees when you take her outside, but will also pee inside sometimes. Her foster mom is working on this by rewarding her with a treat whenever she goes to the bathroom outside. She is very food motivated and seems to be learning, and she will also use a pee pad. Lily's adoption fee is $250. If she is adopted by a senior, her adoption fee will be waived. If you are interested in adopting Lily, please fill out our dog adoption application here: http://medfieldshelter.com/adopt. Every dog we place is vaccinated, wormed, treated for ticks/fleas, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash. With very few exceptions, dogs are happiest and the most well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families who are willing to make a commitment to both. All adoption meetings are by appointment only as we only have two employees. Our manager or one of our volunteers will be happy to set up an appointment for you to come meet the pets, but please fill out the adoption application first.
