Story
Rosa is ready to roll into her new home! This scruffy pup is 7 years old and 14 pounds. She was found earlier this year as a stray in Central Falls, unable to use her hind legs. After her rescue, Rosa underwent a spay and had several benign mammary tumors removed. X-rays revealed a hemangioma inside her spinal cord. She's undergone months of massages, laser therapy, and daily range-of-motion exercises to improve her leg's circulation, but spinal surgery is risky and may not restore her mobility. Rosa now uses a custom wheelchair to keep her hind legs active with the support of a cart. Rosa loves her wheelchair and is always happy to go on stroller rides. She enjoys being held for her leg massages, though we recommended using a blanket when picking her up. Rosa has been living with over a dozen other dogs while in our care. She can be protective of her toys and likes her alone time, so a docile companion would be best. Taking on a paralyzed dog may be a little more work, but it is definitely so rewarding. Rosa is spayed and up-to-date on vaccines. To apply to adopt Rosa, please fill out an application at vintagepetrescue.org/adopt

Story
Mr. Duncan is a distinguished gentleman with one eye, a soft coat, and a heart that wants nothing more than a family to love forever. His small size and delicate features give him an endearing look, and his sweet nature makes him even easier to adore. Attention is his favorite thing. He leans in for affection, follows his people from room to room, and settles contentedly once he knows he’s included. His interactions with calm dogs have gone well, and he seems to enjoy quiet companionship. A simple eye-drop routine will be part of his care moving forward, and he handles it beautifully. The process has become an easy part of his day, and he’s wonderfully patient about it. Mr. Duncan’s gentle temperament and loving spirit make him a wonderful companion for a peaceful home that appreciates a tender, affectionate dog with a resilient heart. Story
Adoption Donation   $ 199 Located:  in RI  (Transportation costs included to the Northeast , plz ask for more details) Age: approx 13 years old Weight:10 lbs.   Muriel is a sweet senior girl who came to us in heartbreaking shape. During her dental procedure, the vet discovered a tumor in her mouth. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to remove it because attempting to do so could risk breaking her jaw. She did, however, get a much-needed dental cleaning, several diseased teeth removed, and a full bath and grooming.   Muriel is suspected to be both blind and deaf. She arrived with a severe ear infection and fur so matted and crusted over her eyes that she could barely see. We aren’t yet sure whether she is truly blind or simply adjusting now that the painful mats and scabs have been removed.   Even after everything she’s been through, Muriel is the sweetest little cuddler. She’s a quiet, gentle soul who minds her own business. If she’s not snuggling with her person, she’s happily curled up on a soft, comfy dog bed. Muriel gets along with absolutely everyone.   This precious girl deserves to spend the rest of her life surrounded by love, comfort, and peace.  If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information:    booklover884@gmail.com Please verify the location and readiness of this dog with us.  Because we save lives from various locations through out the United States, some dogs may not be in New England yet, nor ready for immediate adoption.   Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt.  From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit.  If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) reserves the right to deny any adoption application with or without disclosure of cause. Your adoption fee helps to cover the cost of all age appropriate vetting and transportation. FOHARI.ORG makes no explicit or implicit guarantees in reference to the health, temperament and/or the breed of the animal. The animal is adopted ‘as is’, and the adopter assumes all responsibility for treatment of any and all existing conditions or any other conditions of physical or temperament changes that may occur. FOHARI.ORG will provide the animal with the basic vaccines, heart worm test and sterilization of dogs and cats before adoption if the age and current health of the animal permits. While FOHARI.ORG makes every effort to place only healthy animals, FOHARI.ORG cannot guarantee the health of any animal, and shall not be held responsible for any medical expenses that may be incurred. Good with dogs, Needs special attention, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Popcorn is about 18 lbs., 15 years old and according to Google lens, a West highland terrier. Animal Care Services thought he was a Maltese mix and foster mom thinks he could be a Schnauzer/Maltese mix but knows for sure that he is the cutest scruffy EVER! His journey hasn't been all snuggles and treats as he lived on someone's apartment patio for years, lying in poop, grass and other debris until Animal Care Services came for him and God's Dogs Rescue was able to save the little scamp. While he still loves his humans, other gentle pups his size (cats unknown) and his squishy toys and chewy, understandably he has a few emotional scars especially regarding vet visits and grooming. Slow, patient progress in these areas has helped him be more confident, but will need a patient adopter to help him adapt. Things that make Popcorn super happy are spending time with his humans after he gets to know them, car rides and walks in the park. He loves, loves his squishy toys and generally carries one around with him. His most favorite game is for his person to chase him and pretend to take his squishy away. He also like to run zooms and if there isn't a person to play with he will often throw his toys for himself. Doesn't that just make you want to throw his stuffies so he can play?? He's a healthy guy for his age with just a few old man issues (beginnings of cataracts) that he takes supplements for and should continue taking. His liver enzymes were high when tested but he is on a med to help them normalize. Can you give this boy the right lap to live in?? He needs very patient/knowledgeable adopters, no children- adult only because he will bite if afraid... It is a work in progress but he is becoming the goofy boy he was meant to be while living on the nasty hot and freezing porch for most of his 14 yrs :( GIVE HIM A CHANCE!!! Local adoption only $200 (in TX)
