Story
Looking for a sweet treat without the sugar crash? Meet Marshmallow, the small, four-year-old Maltese who is ready to melt right into your life! This pint-sized pup is the absolute definition of chill and sweet, and while his exact breed blend is a fun rescue mystery, he is already the perfect, low-maintenance companion. Marshmallow absolutely adores his humans, acting as a gentle, loving shadow who enjoys quietly hanging out with everyone in the house. He gets along beautifully with other animals, making him a calm and respectful furry roommate. He is already crate trained and doing fantastic with his potty training, especially when kept on a consistent schedule and rewarded with his absolute favorite tasty treats. While he occasionally enjoys a soft toy to lounge with, the most special thing about Marshmallow is his incredibly gentle presence—he has a magical way of bringing instant calm and comfort to everyone he meets. Marshmallow appreciates a calmer home that can let him warm up at his own pace. He would prefer kids age 10 and up that know to give him time to snuggle his fluffy face. He's pretty hard to resist. If you are ready for a lifetime of peaceful companionship and unconditional sweetness, apply to adopt this precious boy today! https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/6a189d9f05f77362550421ca Questions? Story
Waffle is a small dog- about 17lbs- with a big personality and an even bigger need for the right forever home. While he may be adorable, Waffle is not the type of dog who will thrive in just any environment. He is looking for a patient, experienced, dog-savvy adopter committed to helping him continue building confidence and trust. https://youtu.be/aaybwp6jqjI Waffle is estimated to be about 2 years old. Our best guess is that he may be a Maltipoo mix, though as always with rescue, breed and birthday are simply our best guess. Waffle was left behind with two other dogs after his owner was deported, and that experience understandably left him insecure and unsure of the world around him. Because of this, Waffle takes time to warm up to new people and environments. He is not the kind of dog who will immediately shower strangers with affection, but with patience, structure, and consistency, he is capable of forming very strong bonds with his people. Waffle absolutely needs another younger dog in his forever home — ideally a confident dog around his age and similar size who can handle his rough-and-tumble play style, occasional reactivity, and active personality. He relies heavily on other dogs for confidence and comfort, and another dog is essential to helping him feel secure and continue making progress. His ideal home will have: • A securely fenced physical yard (no apartments, condos, or invisible fences) • Another young, confident dog in the home • Experienced adopters familiar with nervous or reactive dogs • A structured environment with boundaries and routine • Patience and realistic expectations during decompression Waffle is vocal, especially when uncertain, so shared-wall living is not appropriate for him. He is also still working on leash skills and can bark at unfamiliar people and dogs on walks. Keeping his world small at first and allowing him to slowly build trust will be very important for his success. Despite his challenges, Waffle has so much potential in the right home. He enjoys playtime, exploring the yard, and being with his dog friends. He is also cat friendly! Watching him slowly learn to trust and feel safe is incredibly rewarding, and the right family will see a side of Waffle that most people never get the chance to experience. Because of his needs, Waffle is not a fit for first-time dog owners or households looking for an easygoing social butterfly. He needs a committed family willing to meet him where he is and help him continue growing into the dog he is meant to be. For serious adopters, we would also be happy to connect you not only with his foster, but with our behavior team to help ensure a successful transition into his forever home. Apply today to adopt Waffle! https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/6986372eb92150fb190513d9 Questions? Meet Pookie, an older adult (approx. 10 years old) male Maltese weighing about 8 lbs!  Pookie is too old to neuter and doesn't have many teeth but he is the sweetest boy! Pookie arrived in CT on 6/13. We are accepting applications for him now! He is a very sweet boy and great with everyone and other dogs! His foster said, "Pookie is the perfect gentlemen lap dog!" Pookie is medically up to date, and is working on house and crate training. Apply to meet this special pup today! Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! ##2752501##

Story
Ekko & Mimi's Story Ekko (black and tan, male, 15 lbs) and Mimi (tan & white, female, 11 lbs) are an adorable bonded pair looking for a home where they can stay together forever! These sweet pups are house trained, crate trained, and have an easygoing, medium energy level that makes them a great fit for many different homes. They absolutely love people and enjoy playing with kids of all ages. Friendly and social, they are not fearful or reactive and have wonderfully happy personalities. Their favorite pastime is romping around the backyard together and playing with their small stuffed toys before settling in for some relaxation time. Ekko and Mimi are easy to walk on leash and could do well in an apartment or home environment as long as they get their daily exercise and playtime. They’re relatively quiet overall, though they may bark a little when they see activity outside the fence — but once outside, they are calm and content explorers. Like many playful dogs, they do enjoy chasing cats, so a cat-free home would be best for this duo. If you’re looking for two loving companions who already adore each other and are ready to bring double the joy into your life, Ekko and Mimi may be the perfect match! Ekko and Mimi are both about 8-10 yrs old. They are currently being fostered in Houston, TX and are available locally or out of state to the Northeast. If adopted out of state, they would come to their new home via professional transport. Email info@joyrides.org to request an application!
