He is quite independent and does not get in your way. He loves laying on his blankets and doggy bed. I do NOT have any cats so I do not know how he would do in a home with cats. And he is very afraid of bigger dogs and will bark at them out of fear. Other than that he gets along with all of the small breed scruffies in my home. The face and front part of him is straight like a Maltese and his body is curly like a poodle, he has a short curly tail.  He may not be a pure breed but he is a preferred breed. Waffle is a small dog- about 17lbs- with a big personality and an even bigger need for the right forever home. While he may be adorable, Waffle is not the type of dog who will thrive in just any environment. He is looking for a patient, experienced, dog-savvy adopter committed to helping him continue building confidence and trust. https://youtu.be/aaybwp6jqjI Waffle is estimated to be about 2 years old. Our best guess is that he may be a Maltipoo mix, though as always with rescue, breed and birthday are simply our best guess. Waffle was left behind with two other dogs after his owner was deported, and that experience understandably left him insecure and unsure of the world around him. Because of this, Waffle takes time to warm up to new people and environments. He is not the kind of dog who will immediately shower strangers with affection, but with patience, structure, and consistency, he is capable of forming very strong bonds with his people. Waffle absolutely needs another younger dog in his forever home — ideally a confident dog around his age and similar size who can handle his rough-and-tumble play style, occasional reactivity, and active personality. He relies heavily on other dogs for confidence and comfort, and another dog is essential to helping him feel secure and continue making progress. His ideal home will have: • A securely fenced physical yard (no apartments, condos, or invisible fences) • Another young, confident dog in the home • Experienced adopters familiar with nervous or reactive dogs • A structured environment with boundaries and routine • Patience and realistic expectations during decompression Waffle is vocal, especially when uncertain, so shared-wall living is not appropriate for him. He is also still working on leash skills and can bark at unfamiliar people and dogs on walks. Keeping his world small at first and allowing him to slowly build trust will be very important for his success. Despite his challenges, Waffle has so much potential in the right home. He enjoys playtime, exploring the yard, and being with his dog friends. He is also cat friendly! Watching him slowly learn to trust and feel safe is incredibly rewarding, and the right family will see a side of Waffle that most people never get the chance to experience. Because of his needs, Waffle is not a fit for first-time dog owners or households looking for an easygoing social butterfly. Kash came to PAWS through a local animal control agency after being removed from a neglectful home environment. The conditions he endured were heartbreaking-the home was extremely dirty and poorly maintained, and Kash had clearly gone without the care he needed. When he arrived, veterinarians removed over 1.5 pounds of severely matted fur. The matting was so extensive and painful that Kash had to be fully sedated for grooming. During the process, the medical team even discovered a phone charger cord embedded in the mats. Because Kash was not properly socialized, he can be very shy and unsure around new people. He needs patience and gentle introductions as he learns that he is finally safe. Kash needs time to build trust and move at his pace. Underneath it all, Kash is a sweet, warm, and loving dog. Given his size and history, we prefer Kash to be placed in a home without young children.

She came to the shelter as an unclaimed stray suffering from severe flea allergy dermatitis. Her skin was painfully red, raw, and missing much of its fur. After a medicated bath, flea treatment, and plenty of TLC, Piper was already feeling like a new girl. Her skin has healed beautifully, and her coat is steadily growing back. Despite everything she’s been through, Piper is incredibly sweet and loves attention from everyone she meets. She’s heartworm negative, does well with other dogs, and is ready to find a family who will see past her still-growing coat and recognize the wonderful little dog she truly is. Piper has overcome so much already.
