Story
Meet Kip!  Kip is a 1-year-old Maltese mix looking for a family who will love him through his journey of discovering the world. Everything is still new and exciting (and sometimes a little startling) to Kip, so he can be a bit jumpy — but he's got a sweet, gentle heart and he's eager to feel safe and confident. Kip does best in a home with another friendly, playful dog who can show him the ropes and help him build his confidence. He's a total shadow once he settles in — he loves following his people around the house and simply sitting with them, soaking up the company. Older kids and a fenced in yard are preferred The details: Age: 1 year old Breed: Maltese mix Energy level: Moderate Crate trained: Yes Potty training: Doing great — no accidents! Good with cats & dogs: Yes! Kip is convinced everyone is his friend — no chasing, just love. Kip would thrive with a patient family who can give him time to grow into himself, ideally alongside a playful canine sibling who can help him feel brave. If you're looking for a sweet, devoted companion who will stick by your side, Kip might be your guy If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will be in touch The adoption fee of $500 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm, and any other necessary medical treatment to ensure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe the breed, since our pups all come from shelters, we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *Please note that we are a foster home-based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/   Benson is a 4 month old male Maltipoo who weighs in at 6.2 pounds. This pup's adoption fee is $850 .  If you are still interested, please read more below. ARF is looking for someone interested in adopting both Austin and Benson. Hi! I’m Benson and I’m quite a character. My brother Austin and I are quite the pair. We love playing together. And we love playing with any other dog that is around.  We were rescued from a puppy mill and weren’t exposed to humans much. We are a bit shy being approached by people but I’m getting much better. I have gotten more open with people since coming to ARF. Austin has been a little more reserved. So far, we are not too comfortable being held, but we should get better with time and love.  We love all dogs. Little dogs, big dogs and anything in between.  We sleep in a crate at night now because we liked to run around and play and get the other dogs all excited at 2 or 3 in the morning. We might whine just a little but we are pretty quiet all night long.  We’re not really house trained yet, but I think we’ll get it pretty quick. We haven’t made a mess in the crate for a while and when we get up in the morning we run outside and take care of business.  It would be great if these young brothers could be kept together! They rely on each other when unsure of the world around them. This pup is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and neutered. The new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  Please note ARF does not approve applications for any puppy under 6 months of age to families that live outside of Illinois and/or beyond 100 miles of Wheaton or Glen Ellyn, IL.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting this pup fill out an online application today!  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.  ARF is an all volunteer organization.  Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved.  Thank you for your patience!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation! Story
This cutie is BONNIE, a very sweet, initially shy,  3-year-old, 17 pound, female, Maltese/Poodle cross. After a couple days of settling in with her foster family which has adults and teens, they found Bonnie to be easy going, a  “go with the flow”  kind of dog in the home. Her foster home has a couple Bully breed mixes and a couple smaller mixed breed dogs; Bonnie gets along easily with all but her best friend is Kimbo (a little Terrier mix) who is also up for adoption.   Bonnie is housebroken. She is trained to use potty pads but is being trained to toilet outside on the grass and is doing well with that, in part because of the other dogs in her foster home showing her. Bonnie really enjoys spending time in the backyard. She is a bit of a barker so she’s not appropriate for apartment or condo living. Bonnie requires a calmer home that has another dog with whom to socialize and a securely fenced yard.    Because her first owners didn’t introduce Bonnie to other people when she was a puppy, it takes her time to get comfortable with new people. Taking things slowly with her is essential - and it works! Once Bonnie is comfortable, she is very sweet and friendly. She enjoys going for walks but she can be reactive, which is her insecurity and fear to unknown people. She would benefit from continued gentle training to help her not find the world such a scary place. Bonnie’s foster family is taking her for short walks to help her have positive experiences.    This dog has been examined by licensed veterinarians, provided inoculations, been tested for diseases, dewormed, spayed, and microchipped. ADOPTION APPLICATIONS are available upon request at acaringplace@comcast.net A Caring Place - All Breed Dog Rescue adopts throughout the Greater Chicagoland Area. Story
****We are updating Joey post, apparently there was an oversight on his listing previously. Yes, Joey is FULLY vetted(neutered, chipped, up to date on all Vaccinations, and he is housebroken.) When responding PLEASE use application at sparrowdogs.com, or you can also provide your information via email, such as:home, family, yard/fence, other pets, ages of people in the home, work hours...Thanks! What an adorable little boy--we couldn't agree more!! Joey is a cutie, just a year old, about 14 pounds and already knows a number of commands and is...drum roll...housebroken!! We were told by the previous owner Joey is a Maltipoo, but I am guessing there may be a little something else in there, he looks a little Bichon...but I could be wrong?? He came from a family that had dogs that had puppies. Whatever he is, he appears to be one of the more hypoallergenic dogs. As a foster home, we really appreciate that last skill...taking a housebroken dog into our home is a huge plus. But, with that said, his new family will have to continue to reinforce those behaviors and keep him on the right path. Please read this bio fully before responding, we know Joey is a highly adoptable dog based on his age, breed(s) and size. BUT...he came to rescue because of his fearfulness and a bit of anxiety. Joey had a person that loved and cared for him, but they had school, work and a change in pet policy at their home. They did the best they could and took Joey to a shelter where he could be cared for. Who can blame him for being anxious and scared? So, coming into our foster home he was initially fearful and standoffish with the people. He was introduced to the other dogs in the home and soon was doing great with them. Joey needs a home that will understand that he needs a little time to trust them, it is a matter of letting him settle in on his terms. He is young, perhaps undersocialized(he is young and can put that behind him) and needs a little more time to understand you are OK and he is safe. A dog savvy/experience home is a must, a little TLC and patience goes a long way, and he is so worth it. Joey has been with us over a month and is the most lovable guy ever. He loves hugs and snuggles, his toys and other dogs. He is so happy when he has someone that can keep up with him, he lives to zoom around the yard, and even soar over top of the other dogs, he can fly!! A fenced yard is a must, Joey needs the freedom to run. Older kids will be fine, another social dog in the home would be great. He is a very special boy, always ready for some fun, he will do well with an active family that will not leave him alone for long hours. Like so many wonderful rescue dogs, Joey just needs a special family with an little bit of patience, we will melt your heart!! He is getting groomed this week, we will post his handsome new pics!!! His adoption fee is $450. Please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com. Personality traits Affectionate, Athletic, Curious, Funny, Gentle, Loves Kisses, Loyal, Playful, Quiet, Smart
