Story
Aven is an adorable little Maltese with a big personality packed into a tiny body. This bouncy girl loves treats and happily follows you around, always wanting to be part of whatever you’re doing. But not right away. She will be pretty anxious the first few days. As a breeder release, Aven has made progress and is really settling into home life. She now comes right up to you when she wants to be picked up and is more than happy to join you on the couch for some cuddles. The first 3 days she was very evasive. She follows the cues of the other dogs in the foster home. She’s a sweet, affectionate companion who truly enjoys being close to her person. Out is public she still has many fears. She does much better in home with one person. She is afraid of men. Aven is doing well with potty training and is kennel trained. She’s also comfortable in a home environment—she can navigate stairs and knows how to use a doggie door like a pro. She is still working on leash training, that is really scary for her, so she’ll need a patient adopter to continue helping her build confidence. Following the other dogs have helped alot. Aven does wonderful with other dogs, and they have helped her along the way. They help her accept her human, potty training and leash training. If you’re looking for a happy, loving little girl who’s already come so far and is ready to keep learning, Aven might be the perfect match. Apply at **campcompanion.org**. Adoption fee is **$350 plus tax**. 🐾

Story
Meet Edwin 💙 — a tiny 7-lb Maltese breeder release with a huge personality and a talent for making people laugh. Edwin is a funny little guy who brings big, joyful energy… especially when other dogs are around. Edwin is still getting used to living in a home with people. He will snuggle his foster mom on his own and is slowly becoming more comfortable with being picked up and petted. What he lacks in confidence with people, he more than makes up for in his love of dogs — they make him very happy and help him feel safe. Edwin is under-socialized, but with patience, gentle handling, and consistent, kind routines, he is beginning to feel more secure and learn what it means to be loved. He’ll do best in a calm home that lets him move at his own pace and celebrates small wins. He walks well on a leash if he’s accompanied by another dog. Edwin is doing well going potty outside on a schedule with the help of his foster family’s dogs as role models. REQUIREMENTS: • Edwin must have another social dog in the home (all sizes are fine!) Adoption fee: $350.00 + tax Apply to adopt: www.campcompanion.org Edwin is looking for a patient, dog-savvy home where he can feel safe, follow a confident canine friend, and let his big personality shine. 🐾

Story
Hi, I’m Bertram. After spending all my life being used for breeding, I’m adjusting to life in a house, where I can sleep on dog beds and play with toys. It’s been a lot to take in and a lot to learn, but I’m starting to get the hang of things. I love lying on comfy spots! My favorite space was a big dog bed in the living room, but lately I’ve been liking the couch. My foster parents and I like to relax in bed after a long day, and I enjoy snuggling up by their knees. Sometimes they’ll gently move me closer to them, which can be a little scary right away, but then I realize I like it. I do a great job of going potty outside. I have some furry foster siblings, and I don’t mind them. I prefer the calmer, sleepier ones overall the really playful types I think. I have some nervousness around humans, due to my past, so I probably wouldn’t come up to you right away, or even in the first few weeks or months. But if you slowly approach me and pick me up, I’ll settle down into your lap and spend some time with you. I don’t enjoy being pet a ton yet though. I’m still learning! Do you have a calm space I could reside in, and have the patience to let me learn how to be loved by humans? Apply to adopt me at campcompanion.org. My adoption fee is $350 plus tax.

I am looking for a foster or forever family! I have a buddy, and we need to stay together. We are Sunny and Stormy! Please email fostersupport@thebondbetween.org if you can say YES to fostering this animal! Select the "Apply for Adoption" if you would like to adopt Hi, my name is Sunny and I am from Kentucky! From their foster: Get ready to fall in love with Stormy! He is cautious when getting to know people, but once he knows you are his person, he lights up when he sees you and comes in for a cuddle. He can get startled and nervous with sudden movement and noises, but he is recovering more quickly as he settles in. His brother, Sunny, is an important calming friend for him. He may do best in a calm environment. Stormy does great with our teenagers. He has not been around younger kids or other pets while with us. He is house-trained, crate-trained, and ready to bring love to his forever family. He and his brother, Sunny, are such a great pair as they look out for each other and entertain each other. This southern boy is getting used to Minnesota winter and seems to enjoy running around in the snow.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Tallahassee is a 9.5‑pound Maltese senior with a soft spirit, a shy heart, and the sweetest presence you could ever hope for in a companion. She’s around 9–10 years old and has some medical needs, but she is full of love, calm energy, and quiet companionship. She is incredibly gentle and wonderfully quiet — truly a dream dog for anyone with shared walls or a peaceful home. She never barks for attention, food, or visitors. Instead, she prefers to quietly observe the world around her, taking her time to warm up before offering her trust. Once she feels safe, she loves being in the same room as her person, napping nearby, and soaking up the comfort of simply being close. Tallahassee is doing beautifully with potty training on a schedule. She uses a potty pad on the deck when it’s too cold and keeps her kennel clean when left alone. She now sleeps with her foster mom and loves the routine and security of being close at night. She enjoys slow walks, sunshine, and finding excuses to stay outside just a little longer. Indoors, she has claimed a sunny spot on the sofa as her personal throne. She doesn’t explore much, preferring cozy rest over wandering. She loves being brushed — as long as you avoid her face — and will gently hide her head if grooming gets too close to her sensitive areas. Tallahassee is wonderful with other dogs and never barks or shows aggression. She may get nervous if another dog rushes up too quickly, and she can be scared in new situations, sometimes trying to slip away until she feels safe again. She’s also currently afraid of car rides. She has several medical needs: a heart murmur requiring twice‑daily medication, severe dental disease, and a hernia. Because of her heart condition, she cannot undergo anesthesia, so her dental and surgical needs cannot be addressed. She will require ongoing care, gentle handling, and a home committed to her comfort and well‑being. Tallahassee doesn’t play with toys, but she loves soft treats, warm naps, and being near her person. She is the sweetest little lap companion who will sit with you for hours, offering quiet affection and a peaceful presence. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving senior who wants nothing more than a calm home, a soft bed, and someone to adore, Tallahassee is ready to be your devoted little shadow. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
