Story
*Name: Misha *Age: 4 years old  *Current Weight: 16 lbs *Adoption fee: $475 (plus $150 spay/neuter deposit, see below for more information) Introducing Misha: a resilient 4-year-old who's captured our hearts after being rescued from a challenging hoarding situation.  Misha's journey has taught her the value of companionship. She's a social butterfly who loves to play and bond with her furry friends. A fenced-in yard would be ideal for Misha, as she enjoys exploring and having space to roam and play freely. We're seeking patient adopters who understand that Misha may need some time to adjust to her new surroundings. She's incredibly sweet-natured and eager to please, but she may need some extra patience and guidance as she settles into her forever home. If you're ready to open your heart and home to a loving companion like Misha, please consider giving her the chance she deserves. Together, we can give Misha the happily-ever-after she's been dreaming of. IMPORTANT: This dog has not yet been altered. SNARR requires a $150 deposit in addition to your adoption fee, as well as a strictly enforced Spay/Neuter Contract stating you will have this dog altered within 6 months of adoption. The $150 deposit will be returned once the contract has been fulfilled. To apply to adopt, fill out an application at https://snarrnortheast.org/adopt/ PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR FAQs  ##2008730##

Story
Meet Teddy, the adorable 7-10-year-old Maltipoo (our best guess)! This fluffy little guy is a true sweetheart who adores his humans and thrives on their companionship. Teddy is a pro when it comes to walks; he walks beautifully on a leash, making strolls in the park a joyous experience for both of you. While Teddy is mostly housebroken, like many dogs, he may need a little refresher in his new home to help him adjust. Please note that Teddy is not suited for apartment living. He tends to bark when left alone, so a home where someone is usually around would be ideal for him. Teddy lives in harmony with the resident cat in his foster home. If you have feline family members, Teddy will fit right in. Teddy's dream forever home would include another dog companion to play and cuddle with. Teddy enjoys sleeping in his dog bed next to his foster mom. Occasionally, he may jump up to cuddle on her bed during the night. If you're looking for a loving, leash-friendly, cat-friendly, dog-friendly pup who would love all the furry friends that cross his path, Teddy is the the perfect match for you!

Story
Lucky’s is a sweet, beautiful little dog. He wears a belly wrap as he came "housebroken", but is not, but we feel he can be trained. His foster has a fenced in yard and he loves it, we don’t put the belly wrap on him during the day while he’s able to go outside in the backyard and he’s doing wonderful with potty training. His foster mama absolutely loves him. He would be perfect in a retired couple's or woman's home. He would do fine with female dogs. He is smart and listens to commands. He is a little tad bit spoiled. He would be fine with older children but not toddlers. He loves his human and sleeps great in the bed. He is a great dog! Please fill out your application and we will process it and call you. We have a 606 area code when we call. strayheartsrescue@outlook.com https://forms.gle/suhbpui9RXiVmvoJ9

Story
Milano is a very sweet little guy with some very big medical issues! This 7 year old maltese mix has never really had proper medical care. He came to us with a heart murmur, nails so long they were curling all the way around, unneutered and with a large perianal hernia causing him to have a hard time going to the bathroom. He's going to our vet for a full work up, but his recovery and treatment/management of his issues will take a while. We would love to find a committed local foster that can take care of him through his surgeries and treatments so he doesn't need to recover at the shelter, and bring him back for his medical follow ups. He's been a very sweet agreeable guy, has lived with dogs and cats previously and is social and sweet meeting people. He's under 10lbs full grown. Please submit a foster or adoption application if you would like to open your home permanently or temporarily to little Milano Primary Color: White Weight: 9.75 Age: 7yrs 0mths 2wks

Story
Update: Little Indiana Jones really had us fooled. We thought he was too young, friendly and normal to have ended up with our rescue. But as we have gotten to know him better, his inner demon dog has emerged. 👹. This 8lb maltese definitely has a dark side that can rival even our master of evil, Ray (literally, they have had a couple fence fight show downs and he does NOT back down 🤦‍♀️). Overall he’s a happy guy, tail always wagging and demanding attention. We suspect he was kept caged or crated a lot or teased behind a fence, as most of his ferocity seems connected to being behind a barrier or put in a crate. He was a scrawny hungry guy when we got him and has gained weight, but still thinks he has to protect his food so will need to continue to learn that being approached when eating means chicken or cheese will rain from the sky, not that you are going to fight him for his kibble. Trying to tell him what to do or stop him from doing what he wants will be met with a flash of (now pearly white after his dental cleaning) fangs 🦷 and some possessed-sounding noises 😖. Luckily Indiana is very praise and food motivated, so it’s just a matter of tricking him into thinking he wants to do the things you want him to do and rewarding him for doing them, rather than trying to best him a duel of any sort. Typical dude, you have to make him think he’s outsmarted you and got his own way but that it was his idea all along. 😜 He likes meeting other dogs of all sizes, though might be best living as an only dog, unless you have a chill tolerant dog who won’t mind this tiny Napoleon’s laws and creeds. Kids are a definite no for him, he would have no tolerance for their behavior and having to fend off bratty children could definitely be part of why he is the way he is. Indiana Jones is about 4-6 years old we believe, almost a solid 9lbs now that he’s a healthier weight, and should have many years to possess your home and soul. If you like little dogs with big personalities, email njwoof@cs.com to meet him in Northern NJ This intrepid little guy was exploring the woods all by himself and no one ever came looking for him 🤷‍♀️. He’s a friendly little Maltese, skinny at just under 8 lbs and we think somewhere between 3-6 years old. He barks at first but quickly warms up and likes attention and walks. He likes other dogs too, a bit too much actually- since he wasn’t neutered he can’t keep his mind out of the gutter around them if you know what we mean 😉 He should be much more pleasant around them once his hormones settle from tomorrow’s neuter 👋 👋 ⚾️ 🏀. He does go to the bathroom outside when walked but may have some accidents/mark and need a belly band initially. He seems like a nice easy going little guy for the most part and will be a sweet little companion. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet him in northern NJ by appointment Due to COVID-19, we will not be holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we can schedule socially distant appointments with a specific dog outdoors at our vet’s office: VCA Morris Plains Animal Hospital 3009 Rt 10 East Morris Plains (Denville on GPS) NJ 07950 Now is the perfect time to open your home to a needy dog! Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
