Story
Popcorn is about 18 lbs., 15 years old and according to Google lens, a West highland terrier. Animal Care Services thought he was a Maltese mix and foster mom thinks he could be a Schnauzer/Maltese mix but knows for sure that he is the cutest scruffy EVER! His journey hasn't been all snuggles and treats as he lived on someone's apartment patio for years, lying in poop, grass and other debris until Animal Care Services came for him and God's Dogs Rescue was able to save the little scamp. While he still loves his humans, other gentle pups his size (cats unknown) and his squishy toys and chewy, understandably he has a few emotional scars especially regarding vet visits and grooming. Slow, patient progress in these areas has helped him be more confident, but will need a patient adopter to help him adapt. Things that make Popcorn super happy are spending time with his humans after he gets to know them, car rides and walks in the park. He loves, loves his squishy toys and generally carries one around with him. His most favorite game is for his person to chase him and pretend to take his squishy away. He also like to run zooms and if there isn't a person to play with he will often throw his toys for himself. Doesn't that just make you want to throw his stuffies so he can play?? He's a healthy guy for his age with just a few old man issues (beginnings of cataracts) that he takes supplements for and should continue taking. His liver enzymes were high when tested but he is on a med to help them normalize. Can you give this boy the right lap to live in?? He needs very patient/knowledgeable adopters, no children- adult only because he will bite if afraid... It is a work in progress but he is becoming the goofy boy he was meant to be while living on the nasty hot and freezing porch for most of his 14 yrs :( GIVE HIM A CHANCE!!! Local adoption only $200 (in TX)

Meet Finnian: The Handsome Underbite King Looking for a dog who will worship you, make you laugh, and occasionally test your negotiation skills? Meet Finnian, the 110% loyal, zoomie-loving, paper-shredding, plush-toy-collecting gentleman with an underbite that could melt the coldest heart. Finnian didn’t have the easiest start — small kids didn’t treat him well, so he’s learned that trust is earned, not given. But once you’re in? You’re IN. We’re talking best-friend-for-life, cuddles-on-demand, sleeps-on-your-pillow, never-let-you-go kind of loyalty. Finnian’s Likes: Treats (he’s basically a snack-powered machine). Daily walks and yard zoomies — fenced yard REQUIRED, because this boy has wheels. Plush toys he carries like prized possessions (and remembers exactly where he left them). Pets! He will throw himself dramatically at you for attention. Sleeping glued to your head like a very furry, very loud pillow. Finnian’s Quirks (a.k.a. “Management Notes”): Personal space negotiator: Putting on a harness? Brushing? Yeah… he’ll let you know if you’re overstepping. Respect his signals, and you’ll stay friends. Separation anxiety: Leave him alone too long and he’ll redecorate with shredded paper and drool. Selective social butterfly: Growls at strangers first, warms up later. Women get VIP passes, men need to work for it. Kid policy: Loves kids, but thinks they’re playmates — so older, dog-savvy kids only. Finnian’s Perfect Home: A quiet(ish) suburban or rural setting, fenced yard, older kids okay, humans with dog experience, and someone who’s home a lot (he hates being solo). Apartment/condo life? Nope. He’s too chatty for that. Bottom line: Finnian is a quirky little dude who needs patience, structure, and people who “get” dogs like him. In return, you’ll get loyalty, comedy, cuddles, and an underbite grin that could stop traffic. Adopt Finnian — because every king deserves a castle. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.Arlo is a sweet little guy, good with cats, dogs,  older kids only due to his size.  Just perfect for a lap! He is working on potty and leash training and socialization with the outside world. His adopter will need to continue this training.  He loves rolling around in the grass and thinks it's amazing! It's been fun showing him the great big world out there. He is very treat motivated (loves veggies!) and knows sit. Arlo loves to run around and play with his 3 doggie foster sisters and toys. He has a sweet temperament and is puppy playful.  Arlo is crate trained, up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped.   We are requiring that he have another dog to play with and a fenced yard.  He is very people oriented and is always at my side, so a stay at home person would be a bonus.   If you are interested in Arlo, please fill out an application at: https://reachoutrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=4588    Or contact: rorrcanine@gmail.com   *** Click here to sponsor this dog! *** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 16, 2025, 11:36 pm

Story
He was born May 1st of 2023. Due to his liver enzymes being low, the vet did not recommend neutering because it was too dangerous to put him under. Because of this he has some behavioral issues with our other dog. They play well together but he licks him a lot in one spot until it gets raw to the skin. And our other dog, who is much larger, lets him, even though it stressing out. He humps occasionally as well. He also has accidents in the house. Both kinds, but usually just pee. Even if he’s gone out just an hour or two ago. Vet suggested all this is behavioral due to not being neutered and suggests that he would do better in a household with being an only dog. Plays great with my 9 year old daughter.

Story
Meet Clyde. The sweet senior was surrendered with his brother, Charlie, to our rescue by the only family they’ve ever known. While these two boys technically had a home, they were kept in the basement and did not have the care or engagement they deserved. Both dogs came into the rescue in dire need of dental work, both living with pain and infection. Clyde also had a heart murmur that needed medication. Both pups have been fully vetted, had dental work, and been groomed, and they’re getting lots of love and attention and flourishing in wonderful foster homes. These pups are exceptionally sweet, easygoing seniors who do well with cats, dogs, and all people. NOTE: Charlie and Clyde are not bonded, but they are friends. Since they can be adopted as a pair or separately, we are featuring each pup individually. Clyde is a charming 11-year-old Maltese who will melt your heart with his soft cuddles and soulful eyes. He is a very gentle, affectionate, and laid-back boy who loves to be near his people and enjoys cuddling with his dog buddies. His foster home is an active household with a mom, dad, teen son, and two larger dogs, and he does well with everyone. Clyde would thrive in a quiet, loving home with someone who understands the joy and fulfillment of caring for and loving a senior dog. Whether you’re retired, work from home, or just want a sweet companion to keep you company, Clyde is ready to bring his gentle presence into your life. He enjoys short, leisurely strolls or just hanging out at home — he’s very adaptable and the perfect buddy for someone who enjoys a slower pace of life. He would do best in a home with a laidback pup companion and really appreciates the companionship of a dog buddy. As a senior, Clyde has some health issues to manage. He has a grade 4 to 5 heart murmur, which requires daily medications. We had an echocardiogram done to assess his condition, and he was cleared for dental surgery. He’s doing well on the medication and already had his dental cleaning and extractions. He’s feeling so much better now; his mouth infections are gone, and he has a new pep in his step. Clyde’s care will include bi-yearly bloodwork (which all seniors should have) and regular echocardiograms to monitor his heart condition every 6 to 12 months. Because of his past home conditions, Clyde currently wears a belly band during the day to protect him from marking or pee accidents. He knows to potty outside and will always poop outside. We suspect he has a mix of learned behavior from his prior home, older age, and some of the medications he is on make him more prone to potty. He has already learned to hold it overnight and enjoys snuggling up with this foster family in bed, so we’ve seen improvement. His foster mom has also noted that he tends to have more accidents when change or activity happens…so we think he could continue to improve in a calm environment. Despite his medical needs, Clyde’s foster mom, Jenn, describes him as a lovable, low-maintenance companion who is happiest snuggled up beside you or snoozing in a cozy bed. Clyde is a calm little guy who doesn’t ask for much — just a quiet, loving home where he can enjoy his golden years. Clyde may have a few extra needs, but the love he has to give is immeasurable. If you have room in your heart and home for this sweet senior, consider Clyde and apply today. NOTE: Clyde is in Charlotte, NC but can be brought to DC metro upon request!   BREED ESTIMATE: Maltese GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT:  10.5 lbs  APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 11 years old COAT TYPE:  Medium-long fluffy coat ADOPTION FEE: $400 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/neutered/microchipped/recent dental LOCATION: Charlotte, NC   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes.
