Story
Smoke, a striking extra-large Grey Merle Mastiff-Mix, has faced significant challenges throughout his three years of life. After being surrendered to a shelter in 2023, he was fortunate enough to be rescued by a compassionate local foster just days before a scheduled euthanasia. Smoke was later adopted, but due to unfortunate circumstances, his family had to return him to the shelter. He is now with Misty Eyes and is seeking a second chance at a loving forever home. Smoke is not only a good boy, but also gets along well with other dogs and enjoys people, making him a wonderful companion. We warmly invite anyone interested in giving Smoke the loving home he deserves to submit an adoption application through our website at https://www.mistyeyes.org/adoptionapplication.

Story
Sunshine lives up to her name—she’s a sweet, affectionate girl with a playful spirit and a gentle, slightly shy side. She can be a bit of a scaredy cat at first, but once she feels safe, her loving personality shines through. After just a few days out of the kennel, Sunshine has already begun to settle in, showing how much she benefits from a calm, stable environment. Sunshine is a high-energy dog who enjoys staying active. She does best with at least two walks a day along with backyard playtime to burn off energy and satisfy her curiosity. She’s smart and eager to learn, especially when treats are involved, and is currently working on cues like sit and stay. Positive reinforcement—praise, affection, and gentle guidance—has been especially effective for her. Affection is Sunshine’s love language. She always wants to be near her person, giving and receiving pets, and she has no known sensitivities to handling. Her paws were sore when she first arrived, but that has since resolved, and she’s comfortable being touched all over—especially when it comes to ear scratches, which are her absolute favorite. Sunshine has been calm and friendly around the people she’s encountered so far and hasn’t shown any concerning reactions. She’s curious about other animals, gently sniffing a neighbor’s dog and observing nearby chickens without chasing or showing aggression. She has not displayed any possessiveness over food or toys.Like many young or energetic dogs, Sunshine is still working on her manners. She sometimes jumps when excited and is learning leash skills, as she can pull on walks. She also has a playful habit of trying to steal items like shoes or glasses, but she’s beginning to understand what belongs to her and what doesn’t with consistent redirection. With continued structure, patience, and plenty of love, Sunshine has all the makings of a wonderful companion. She’s curious, intelligent, and deeply affectionate—and with more time outside the kennel in a stable home, she’s sure to keep blossoming into an amazing dog. Adoptions are free and include support from our adoption team to ensure a smooth transition from the shelter to your home. Adopted pets are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered before leaving with you. To view our current available animals, please visit: https://indy.gov/activity/adopt-a-pet.

Story
We rescued Doyle from our local shelter as we suspected an obstruction. He received surgery, in which several things were found, including foam and screws. He has recovered nicely from the procedure and has gained over 20lbs! He has had no interested in eating anything other than food since his surgery. We suspect he was starved, and resorted to eating whatever he could find at the time. Doyle is delightful, friendly and low energy. He has no clue that he doesn't fit in your lap, and wants nothing more than to flop his body all over you in lovings! If you have kids, we would recommend children over the age of 10, as he is a big boy!

Story
Harry is a big, lovable derpy dog who loves everyone he meets. Harry is about 85% potty trained and he’s 100% lapdog. He doesn't know how big he is, and wears his love on the outside. He is certainly a very happy dog if he has room to move. No fault of his own, Harry has been bounced around from home to home and did a couple tours of the city shelter when we stepped in and decided to give him a chance. Harry has had very little structure in his young life and he most likely missed the window of development when dogs learn to read other dogs. So, while he absolutely loves other dogs, he has no idea how to read body language. Because of this, Harry will need slow introductions and a tolerant dog friend to set him up for success when meeting other dogs. Harry has some separation anxiety and would do best in a home where he gets to go most places with his people or his people are home a lot. Harry also has no idea that he’s an 95 lb dog with more weight to put on. Because of Harry's large size and inability to read personal space, he would do better with a stronger person of stature. Harry thinks he is still a puppy and can easily be unpredictable with his joy. He's basically a lovable-wrecking ball in dog form. Harry has the stubbornness of a mastiff. If he doesn't want to do something he either plays "catch the mastiff" or "dead mastiff." Both can be frustrating, but also funny if you like that kind of thing. Most of what Harry is trying to avoid is being alone. You absolutely will not find a dog with a bigger heart than Harry. But I’m not gonna lie, he is A LOT. He’s got some baggage from being bounced around. He needs structure, patience, and time. And, of course, lots of love. Are you Harry’s person? Fill out an adoption application on our website, Sketchymuttsandunderdogs.org and we will set up a time to talk about him! *Adopters must live in Central Indiana, no more than 45 min from downtown Indy
