Story
We rescued Doyle from our local shelter as we suspected an obstruction. He received surgery, in which several things were found, including foam and screws. He has recovered nicely from the procedure and has gained over 20lbs! He has had no interested in eating anything other than food since his surgery. We suspect he was starved, and resorted to eating whatever he could find at the time. Doyle is delightful, friendly and low energy. He has no clue that he doesn't fit in your lap, and wants nothing more than to flop his body all over you in lovings! If you have kids, we would recommend children over the age of 10, as he is a big boy!

Story
Hey peoples! My name is Tigger, thanks for checking out my profile! I am six years old and weigh 69 of pure joy! I came to the shelter as a stray, so not a whole lot is known about my life before I came to IACS. I am super friendly though and I absolutely love all the attention and pets anyone wants to give me! I`d love to find my forever person, so that way we can get busy with our happily ever after. I`ll be your absolute best friend if only you`d let me. It`s hard to meet new people and pets quickly after leaving the shelter. I might need some time in my new home to decompress and process my new surroundings before meeting the whole gang. That`s ok though because IACS offers a cuddle before you commit program to ensure I am the best fit for you and your home. We`ll have pleanty of time to get to know everyone! *Please apply on our website at indy.gov/activity/adopt-a-pet. *Click on the adoption application link, enter your information, and click submit. You can include multiple pets that you are interested in on one application. *Once you have submitted your adoption application, please visit the shelter to speak with one of our Adoption Counselors, who will assist you with meeting some of our animals. *We offer a Cuddle before you Commit program where you can slowly introduce it to the rest of your animals and family, and then finalize your decision. I hope to see you soon!

Well hello there! You can call me Sir.. not because I`m all that formal.... it`s just my name! I am two years old and weigh 72 pounds. Yes I know I`m a pretty big boy, but I am very sweet. At least that`s what the friendly folks here at the shelter tell me. I love affection and will always ask for more, who can blame me? Pets and scratches feel amazing! I`m a very happy and wiggly boy looking for his forever companion.. could that be you? If I sound like your cup of pup please swing by the shelter to meet me, I`m very much looking forward to it! Story
Meet Atlas! Atlas is a beautiful 60 pound brindle mastiff and lab mix. He is 3 years old and a very sweet and down to earth boy. Atlas sat in a city shelter for over 6 months before coming to us. Atlas loves his people, especially if they’re women. He is fearful of men, and would rather avoid then engage. Once Atlas gets to know a man, he’s perfectly okay. However, he’s got no hesitation with women. He is a lover and such a sweetheart. Atlas is a playful boy and loves to throw his toys around the house. He loves walks and he absolutely loves treats. He will often lay with his paws crossed, as any sophisticated boy would do. We are looking for a home with no younger children, as they can be loud. Atlas is not good with small dogs or cats. He is selective with dogs his size. If he sounds like a good fit, adopt our boy today!

Story
Hi there, my name is Freya. I'm a Mastiff Mix which means I'm a gentle giant who is very protective of the people she loves. I'm a fairly calm girl and I've been through a lot. I was brought to HSHC as a stray with severely infected ears and an upper respiratory infection, but I've been on the mend! I'm extremely thankful for the staff and volunteers, they have done so much for me as they prepare me for my forever home. I think my ideal home would be nice and quiet, with lots of yummy treats. If you have other pups or kiddos at home I'd love to meet them. I'm sure we'll get along just fine.

Story
Meet Toby! Toby is all puppy a big big puppy that will push buttons test boundaries, and everyone he meets. He is a butt head but means no harm. He has learned his size can be intimidating but he's a kitten at heart. He's extremely smart and truly a great dog once he knows not to shit around. He's goofy with lots of puppy left in him. I strongly believe his goofy personality is just him catching up for the lack of experience in his first year plus of life he missed out on. Toby is great with dogs of all sizes. Truly hes sweet and a big baby. Toby needs a strong handler and not a crazy busy home with lots of visitors. ABSOLUTELY NO cats and NO children of young age. Toby makes most adults fly. He is a giant DODO. If you fear him he will smell you out and use it to intimidate you. Toby requires a confident no nonsense kind of person. With humor, nurturing but firm LOVE. Toby is house and crate trained, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, rabies, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped, neutered, and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention. Updated: 2/1/2023 www.animalhousesanctuary.org We believe training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues that arise, need to be addressed and/or rewarded. Understanding that continued training is a lifetime commitment, is very important. Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. Meet & Greets are a required before proceeding with an adoption. We DO NOT ship any of our pets.

Story
Meet Dually!!! Dually is believed to be a Mastiff mix about 7 yrs old. Dually has been homeless her whole life. She’s been in rescue since 2016. Really all she needs is a stable secure home with a confident experienced owner with common sense. She is a homebody and would perfectly happy with just her people. She does not do well with cats and is best as an only dog. She minds her own around new dogs once she is comfortable and knows she is safe. But a home of her own is preferred. She loves training and learning commands. Loves car rides and walks. Drive through for pup cups are always fun. Dually lacks confidence and can be unsure at times. Allow her space she needs and build that bond with her and she is that loyal dog everyone dreams of having. An adult home would be best for her. Well mannered teens are ok. Respect, discipline, routine, structure, and common sense Helps dually feel safe and at home. She truly is not difficult and once comfortable she’s absolutely the best friend anyone could want. Dually has been raised with kids as young as 7 years old. Dually is a breed of dog that is not for the weak minded, or non committed individual. She is guarded but disciplined. She is calm and a bit lazy but truly is up to whatever her person wants to do. She makes the best side kick buddy. She needs a strong owner both physically and mentally confident to guide her. She has been well socialized since birth but always lacked confidence. Dually is currently at the sanctuary with Cindy and her children both autistic but high functioning. Cindy trusts Dually 100% with her kids however her children have grown up around dogs and know how to behave, respect, and handle dogs like Dually daily since age 5. Dually has done well with other dogs properly introduced. it takes time and patience. Trust is everything and she is currently 1 of 32 plus in her group who coexist without any issues. She was at one point 1 of 60 free roaming. She prefers her space and loves her crate/cave. Loves her chew toys and comfy dog bed. Dually walks well on leash, off leash trained, her breed makes her very protective of her people, pack and perimeter but obeys well and will not act on it. Dually is crate trained and housebroken. Dually cannot be adopted out within city limits of Fort Wayne/Allen county or Huntington/Huntington county unless its a confident secure home with a full fence and cautions keeping her safe and thriving. These areas are not ok with her breed. A secured fence in yard is preferred 4 ft and up, no tie out, no chain, no garage living. No basement. She needs to by her people relaxed in a big comfy dog bed. Preferred a home with no other pets. Adoption fee partially sponsored. And she is to be an indoor pet and part of the family. NOT A GARAGE OR SHOP DOG unless its with her owner. Dually is house and crate trained, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, corona rabies, de-wormed, fecal tested negative, micro-chipped, spayed, and current on monthly heart-worm flea/tick prevention.
