Story
Meet Victoria — The Sweetest Soul You’ll Ever Meet Victoria is a young English Mastiff with a personality as warm and comforting as a summer afternoon. She may be big in size, but her heart is even bigger. At around 140 pounds, Victoria is all about love, loyalty, and a touch of goofiness. Get to Know Victoria: Affectionate and Kind: Victoria is the definition of a loyal companion. She’s house trained and kennel trained, and she adores spending time with her people, whether that’s lounging nearby or enjoying a gentle ear scratch. Toy Enthusiast: She loves her toys and knows how to make the most out of playtime. Give her something squeaky or soft, and she’ll proudly show it off like it’s her prized possession. Great with Kids: Victoria has met children and done wonderfully. She’s gentle and loving, but given her size, supervision is recommended so everyone stays safe and happy. Dog Friendly: Victoria enjoys the company of other dogs, from energetic puppies to more mellow companions. She’s social, friendly, and loves having canine company. Victoria’s Next Chapter Victoria’s adoption fee has been completely sponsored by a generous supporter, which means her adoption cost is $0 with an approved application. She’ll head to her forever home spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm tested, ready to start her next adventure. If you’ve been looking for a loving, loyal, and playful companion who will make every day a little brighter, Victoria is waiting for you. Apply to adopt Victoria at www.lucky13rescue.org

Story
Enid is about four years old and, without reading ahead, go ahead and guess what specific breeds she is. There are five! Drumroll, please... Enid is bull mastiff, Neapolitan mastiff, German shepherd, cane corso, and labrador retriever! All of those in 70 pounds of cuteness. Enid loves laying in the grass, playing fetch (but not so much bringing the item back to you), chewing on sticks, sleeping on her back, getting belly rubs, riding in cars, and hanging out with her people. She is also a fan of playing in water from the hose or in a kiddie pool. However, don't ask Enid to step outside to potty in the rain unless you're willing to go out with her! She is super smart and already knows sit, shake, down, place, kennel, come, look at me, through the legs, and wait (for food). Squeaky toys will motivate her; toys, not as much. Go figure! Because Enid is such a smarty pants, keeping her mind busy helps to keep her out of mischief. While she can't do crossword puzzles, she is really good at snuffle mats, lick mats, and peanut butter stuffed Kongs! If you're looking for a super snuggly, Velcro pooch, Enid is not that. She's fairly independent but will seek out pets and attention. She also likes to sleep in her human's bed sometimes, if she's not napping in her own dog bed. Do you think Enid might be the peas to your carrots? The jelly to your peanut butter? Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 for more info! She's in the KC metro, but transport might be available to the right home.

Story
Meet Hugo!Hugo is a gentle giant Mastiff mix, a 6-year-old sweetheart with a beautiful brown and black coat and a heart as big as his paws. Hugo did test positive for heartworms, and has been through treatment. Because he was heartworm positive for so long, he is on a medication for his heart (it`s not expensive). Hugo does not let this slow him down at all! He`s a friendly boy who walks beautifully on leash, responsive and polite without pulling, and is very friendly with other dogs.Because Hugo is a long-stay dog—through no fault of his own—his adoption fee is waived, making it even easier to bring this loving, big-hearted companion into your home. Hugo is ready for a patient, loving family who can give him companionship, reassurance, and the promise of a forever home. He’s a devoted companion just waiting for the right person to help him shine.

Approx. DOB: 1/23/17                 Approx Weight: 65 Lbs Adoption Fee: $175 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Hank was initially surrendered to Furry Kids' due to the health of his owner. He was recently surrendered by his adoptive family because they are transferring overseas with the military. He is in a Furry Kids' foster home and his foster family had this to say about him: 'He really is the sweetest dog. I’m thinking he is English Mastiff and German Shepherd mix. Hank is both loving and playful. He plays with our big dog and enjoys her company. He loves all human cuddles and pets and would love to sit with you on the couch all night after a hard day. He does like to try to get his humans to play with him like a dog and will bark playfully to get you to play. He is crate trained and housebroken.' Hank should not be placed in a home with small dogs under 20pds. He doesn't like to be growled at or bossed around by the ones smaller.  Hank does have allergies. He recently received an allergy shot. Hank has been neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, wormed and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support!
