Story
This adorable guy is Mason! He is an approximately 4-year old, Mastiff/Pointer mix who weighs around 98 lbs. He is a short stocky guy – a total goofball! Mason is a special needs kid as he is completely deaf. Otherwise, he is a funny, energetic, playful boy like any other dog. Mason absolutely loves to play! He would play all day if he could. He loves toys and he especially loves other dogs. He loves to put everything in his mouth so you will definitely need to watch this little cutie and teach him about toys vs shoes. Mason will require a securely fenced yard with a 6 ft. fence. Because he is deaf, he cannot hear another dog correct him with a growl so he is going to need a home with another dog who is kind, patient, and playful! He will need an active family who can spend lots of time with him and give him plenty of exercise. Mason is house-trained to a doggy door. He will adjust without one, but accidents might happen at first. He is crate and leash trained. Mason is neutered, microchipped, and current on his vaccines. His adoption fee is $250. He will require another dog, a fenced yard, an approved application and a home visit for adoption. Therefore, only those located in OKC area will be approved. To adopt Mason, go to www.foreveryoursokc.org/adoption-application to apply.

Story
Meet Mirabelle, the miracle! This amazing girl was surrendered to local animal control from a neglect situation. Sadly, she recently had puppies that were given away. She was only 75 lbs and should be double that weight. Thankfully, the shelter reached out for rescue, and we picked her up (you can see her being hugged by shelter staff in one of the photos). Despite the hard life she's clearly had, this girl has nothing but love to give. She loves people and has done great with the other dogs at her foster home. She is house-trained and will use a doggy door. In typical velcro Mastiff style, she wants to be with her people always. She is somewhere between 4 and 6 years old. We don't have an exact age, and it's difficult to estimate age on dogs in this horrible condition. At Mirabelle's first vet visit with us, she already gained 14 lbs in 2 weeks, speaking to the level of starvation she was suffering. She was treated for intestinal parasites. Thankfully, she was heartworm negative but tested positive for a tick disease called Ehrlichia, which is common to see in our rescues. She's got a long road ahead of her to get back to health! We will post updates on her progress. Mirabelle will be on medical hold until she's healthy enough for adoption. Mirabelle is being fostered in McAlester, OK PLEASE NOTE: GPMR communicates primarily by email. Story
**Maggie is part of our "For the Love of Mastiffs" adoption special, and her fee is waived!** Meet Maggie! Maggie is an estimated 7-year-old Mastiff who landed in an Arkansas shelter after her owner went to jail. Shes already been through so much right after we picked her up from the shelter and took her to the vet, we discovered she had a life-threatening uterine infection called a pyometra. Thankfully, we got her in just in time; she was hospitalized at our vet and spayed to treat the infection. She's extremely underweight, and so we're working on getting her healthy. She's also positive for heartworms. It's clear she was neglected for some time. Maggie is 120 pounds. Maggie has been dog tested, and shes been great with some dogs but not with others. She does well with the cats in her foster home. Her foster reports she's a pretty easy keeper. She's got a road ahead of her to get healthy, but we're committed to getting her there! She'll be available for adoption once she finishes all of her veterinary care. Maggie is being fostered in Amarillo, TX PLEASE NOTE: GPMR communicates primarily by email. Story
Meet Bruno! This handsome boy came into rescue when his owners were having a baby and felt like they weren't able to give him the time he deserved. We would agree with this, as it's clear Bruno didn't get out of his home much. He is a sweet dog only 14 months, but has not received much training and is very strong. His new owner will have to commit to bringing this boy through some obedience school, so he can learn to be the best dog he can be! Bruno was not socialized with dogs outside his home. He can be reactive to dogs who growl at him. If he is to live with other dogs, he will require very slow and gradual introductions for it to be a success. He needs canine companions who are dog friendly and well socialized with dogs so he has a positive rolemodel to show him the ropes. He also would do great as the only pet in the home. He has not been evaluated with cats. He would not be recommended for homes with small children due to his size and being unaware of his size. Bruno has a vet appointment and will have his hips xrayed. His legs turn outward some and so we want to have this evaluated. He doesn't seem to have problems with his back end so that's a good sign. We'll report back when we have more information! Bruno is being fostered in Licking, MO PLEASE NOTE: GPMR communicates primarily by email.
