Story
Big boy searching for love! Hi, I’m Lime (60231724), a 3 year old Mastiff mix with a big heart. I’m super sweet, love tasty treats, and I already know SIT. Could that be you?   Check out all the adoptable animals on the shelter's website! https://www.collincountytx.gov/Services/Animal-Services/adoptable-pets All adoptions include spay/neuter, microchip and first round of vaccinations. Story
Meet Panther! He is a 5yr old very handsome male Mastiff that weighs 117 lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 2/5 as he was abandoned in the home. He is not only big in size, but also has a big playful loving heart too. He loves to lean into you for plenty of petting, which brings a big smile to his face. He is a big teddy bear and enjoys having his face and ears rubbed. He walks well on a leash, and gets a bit excited taking treats, so will need some additional training. He enjoys investigating the shelter yard and did show momentary interest in balls. He doesn’t appear to know any commands, but in time, as he loves treats, I’m sure he could learn. Panther would need to be the only pup in the home, so he can be your one and only to shower him with lots of affection. Having plenty of room to lounge about and a secured yard to play in, while enjoying playtime with his family members. If you can offer him the loving home he deserves, come meet him!

Story
Cash is a great dog and is very friendly to everyone he meets. He spends most of his time laying on the front porch and sleeping by the fire at night. He has never gone to the bathroom inside and goes across the street to the vacant lot every morning. Therefore, you don’t have to scoop poop. Cash is easy to train doesn’t bark and loves being around people. We think that he is a Portuguese mastiff and his temperament is considered sober. If you are looking for a new best friend Look no further. We are relocating and can’t take him with us. He is the best pet I have ever had.

Story
Smokey is a 7-year-old, very friendly and outgoing boy with a heart full of love. He’s completely potty-trained, great with kids, and has lived with both men and women. Smokey spent most of his life as an outside dog, so he thrives in a yard where he can run and play freely. He has never been crated and would not do well cooped up in an apartment. He has shown some reactions to other dogs in kennels but did not react to cats he passed by—so he may benefit from meet-and-greets with other pets. Smokey is eager for his next chapter with a family who will give him the care, companionship, and freedom he deserves. Update: He has been treated for HW at the shelter **He is  HW+, but you can foster to adopt , which means the dog stays with you until treatment is completed and they are cleared, at no extra cost to you. The dog comes off the adoption website once you are signed up for the foster to adopt program, or you can choose to go ahead and adopt, which at that point you are responsible for taking care of the treatment and the cost. Call the shelter at 972-744-4480 or email AskRichardsonAnimalServices@cor.gov to learn more.January 14, 2026, 1:07 pm

Story
Meet Bakugo This handsome, sweet-natured pup is full of charm and personality. Because of his size, he’d do best in a home without young children, small dogs, or cats. Bakugo is a sensitive soul who loves being close to his person and isn’t a fan of spending time in a crate—he’d much rather be your constant companion. He’s house-trained, vaccinated, and neutered, and is ready to bring love and loyalty to his forever home.

Story
Meet Huckleberry! A spirited two-and-a-half-year-old Mastiff/Labrador Retriever mix currently in Edmond, OK, whose essence is a whirlwind of joy wrapped in a sturdy white and gray frame and powered by endless enthusiasm. Huckleberry is a big-hearted, big-footed goofball who lives for fun, fresh air, and friends! We’re talking high-octane fetch sessions, tug-of-war tournaments, and “keep away” games that will keep you on your toes (and laughing out loud!). He’s also a big fan of car rides and pup cups, just say the word and he’s leaping in the back seat like a seasoned road tripper. People? He adores them! Kids over seven? Absolutely! He’s happiest when surrounded by love, play, and plenty of activity. At 60 pounds of pure lovable energy, Huckleberry thrives on structure and routine. He’s house and crate trained, knows commands like sit, heel, stay, and wait, and completed several weeks of training at K9 University. He’s a quick learner and will work for treats every time, though he may test your consistency now and then. Huckleberry is looking for a home where he can be the one and only furry companion. While he’s shared space with cats and dogs in the past, his playful energy and enthusiastic spirit are best suited to a home without other animals. His size and zest for life can unintentionally overwhelm smaller pets, and he truly shines when he has all the attention to himself. In a home where he doesn’t have to share the spotlight, Huckleberry thrives! Soaking up affection, engaging fully with his people, and offering his goofy charm in every moment. He’s a strong jumper, so a fenced yard is a must. He needs plenty of exercise and stimulation to keep his mind and muscles happy. Touching his paws makes him a bit uneasy, so patient, low-key vet visits are best. Are you ready to welcome a goofy, loyal, and utterly lovable companion into your life? Huckleberry is also open to a foster home, so if you're not ready to adopt but still want to make a difference, fostering could be a perfect fit. Reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more!
