Story
Hi, I’m Petunia. I’m a 9 years old, senior girl who came to Baldwin Park Animal Care Center as a stray with a painful hip injury before getting my second chance. Petunia is a petite 30 pound brindle sweetheart currently safe with her foster in Los Angeles, California and is available for adoption. Despite everything she has been through, she has never stopped loving people. She has the gentlest soul and is happiest when she is receiving affection and spending time with her humans. Petunia gets along well with both dogs and cats, making her an easy companion for many homes. She has a calm, loving personality and simply wants to be close to the people she trusts. After arriving at the shelter with a hip injury, she received surgery and has healed beautifully. Now that her recovery is behind her, she is ready to focus on what she has always deserved — a loving forever home. Petunia’s journey to safety was not an easy one, but she never gave up. Today, she is finally able to relax, feel safe, and enjoy being loved. All she needs now is a family of her own to give her the happy ending she has been waiting for. Petunia is proof that even after hardship, a loving heart can continue to shine. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate companion, Petunia would love to meet you.

📌 Important Adoption Information All of our dogs are currently living in private shelters or foster homes in South Korea. Once an adoption is approved, dogs will travel to the United States through legal and approved international transport procedures. Video calls are available prior to adoption, and adopters can communicate with our rescue team in real time through our official organization and app-based messaging channels throughout the process. • Rescue Story: Meet Leeju👋 She was found on the street in South Korea at just 2 months old and sent to a high-risk city shelter along with her four siblings. Luckily, she was rescued right before euthanasia by the rescue team and sent to her foster home 2 months later. Her foster family has been taking good care of her since, and she’s been living peacefully with the resident dog. LeeJu is now more than ready for a furever home! • Personality: Friendly, Curious, Cautious LeeJu is such a friendly and lovable pup with a curious and cautious personality. Her energy level is mid-low as she mostly chills in a kennel at home and prefers to have light walkies mainly for the bathroom. • Affinity with - Dogs: Super friendly with other dogs as long as they are not too large or aggressive. She doesn’t respond to barking dogs as well. She currently lives with a resident dog in her foster home, so she will be a good fit for a family with other furry companions. - Cats: Good with cats. - Adults/Kids: Good with both adults & kids. She is calm even when kids pet her. • Housetrained: Fully housebroken, mainly using the bathroom outdoors but sometimes indoors when she can’t go outside. • Walking Manners: Well-mannered! • Bathing/Brushing: Very good. • Car Rides: Not anymore. She got better at car rides. Her foster tries to walk her for potty before jumping into the car. • Separation Anxiety: None. • Barks/Howls: A little bit towards continued noise from outside the house. • Appetite/Food Allergies: She likes any sort of food! / No food allergies. • Likes/Dislikes: She loves being petted on her face while snuggling up to your side! / She feels cold easily due to her short coat. • Shedding level (1~10): 4-6 • Health: Had surgery on both knees in 2021 and recovered fully. Now maintaining her weight is important. Otherwise, she’s healthy! 💙 Adoption Fee Information The adoption fee already includes all major expenses, such as: International transportation, Customs and export documentation, Medical care (spay surgery, vaccinations, health certificate, deworming, etc.) For this reason, we kindly ask that you refrain from requesting a breakdown or negotiation of the adoption fee. Story
My name is Brie. I was living in back of a vacant house all by myself and was rescued by wonderful neighbors. I was so frightened but they gave me a new toy, a stuffed monkey. What am I?  My DNA says many things. We could say Min Pin-Chi mix or Super Mutt.  I am a female, approximately 1 year old and I weigh about 26 pounds. I am a bit shy meeting new people, but not for long. I love all my doggy friends. PLEASE NOTE: Pet Harbor adopts to residents of the South Bay area of Los Angeles county only. To adopt one of our pets, please call us or send us an email to request an adoption application. A home check is required for all adoptions. All dogs and cats are spayed/neutered prior to adoption, updated on vaccinations and microchipped.

Story
COOKIE is a lovely adult-to-senior girl, 12 pounds, Miniature Pinscher whose senior human dad passed away, leaving Cookie and her four little companions, Shorty, Millie, Poopsy, and Missy, without their dad. They all get along really well, are house trained, and also know to use pads to do their business indoors, at night, and when it's raining or very cold out. Cookie's late dad probably did not realize that Cookie's left eye was swollen and didn't look right. We don't know exactly what happened to it, but veterinarians are thinking it was untreated uveitis leading to glaucoma that was no longer treatable with medicines. So poor Cookie had to have an enucleation--eye removal. We don't think her other eye was or will ever be involved as we don't know what was the underlying cause. It could have been injury to the eye rather than a systemic problem. Cookie can often be found burrowed in a blanket, and when we arrive starts to dig herself out! None of the pups appear to be serious barkers, only barking to warn that someone is at or near the front door, and then they settle down again. They are great with cats, because they were housemate with six (6) cats! If shown a lot of affection and understanding when welcomed into their new homes, we are sure these lovely kiddos will do well in loving new homes even when they won’t be staying together. IMPORTANT NOTE: Recently the number of deaths from hungry coyote attacks has greatly increased. Coyotes can climb 10 foot fences with a small to medium sized dog in their jaws. This happens in broad daylight in the middle of the day, and on trails while hiking with your dog on a leash, it is truly unbelievable, and we have frightening first-hand accounts. We are listing these lovely pups to help their current foster in finding them wonderful new homes. All four girl pups are spayed, Shorty is neutered, and all of them current on vaccines. To learn more about Cookie (or Shorty, Millie, Poopsy, and Missy), please contact us at: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (also our PayPal email for donations and sponsorships).

Story
HENRIETTE-URGENT-Sponsorship: Henriette is awaiting life-saving specialty surgery or radiation treatment (preferred) to remove a tumor on her thyroid gland. It is not malignant but causes an extremely high thyroid count. We were told that if it is not removed Henriette could die. Our regular veterinarians won’t do the surgery and referred us to several specialists for this very delicate surgery or equally difficult radiation which will cost $12,000 to $14,000. Even with an added 15% rescue discount, it is more money than we can ever raise. We have found a way to suppress the high thyroid count and it looks like it’s working, and requires daily medication and supplements. We are seeking help. We have run out of funds. We have spent over $2000 for all her diagnostics—specialty ultrasounds, blood panels, cardiology assessment at MASH, urinalysis and other needed tests, medications, holistic treatments and supplements which we are hoping will help. Henriette is also on expensive "Just Food For Dogs", and human grade food, is fed several times a day, and gets a whole host of supplements and vitamins. The Nature Network Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit, and we will provide a donation receipts for tax deductions. We rescued Henriette from the Orange County Animal Shelter, where she was out of time and living her final days. Henriette loves her doggy playmates and they and we would miss Hen terribly so we are doing everything humanely possible to keep her going, pain free of course. Henriette is spayed and current on her vaccinations. For more information about HENRIETTE, and if you or someone you know can help her, please contact us: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (Also our PayPal donation/sponsorship email address)

Story
Name: Hazel - CALGARY!!! Age: 1 year Sex: Spayed Female Spayed: Yes Breed: Miniature Pinscher mix Color: Black / Brown Weight: 3.6 kg Height (shoulder): 23 cm   Rescue Story   Hazel was rescued from a severe animal hoarding situation where dozens of dogs were found living together in poor conditions. All of the dogs were taken to a city shelter, and Hazel was fortunately rescued before her situation became worse. She is now safe and slowly learning what life with people can be like.   ‍‍ Socialization with People   Hazel can be a little shy at first, but when someone calls her she will approach and happily settle into their arms. Because she grew up in a hoarding environment, she tends to be more cautious about new environments than people. In unfamiliar places, she often looks to humans for reassurance and comfort.   She has not met children under 13 yet, but we do not expect major issues. She can be picked up by placing an arm under her belly, and once she becomes comfortable with someone she will even roll over to show her belly.   Socialization with Other Dogs   Since Hazel grew up with many dogs, she is used to living with them and often seeks comfort from the dogs she grew up with. They tend to sleep together in a little group, although she hasn’t shown a lot of playful interaction yet.   She may feel uncomfortable around larger dogs but is generally friendly with dogs of a similar or smaller size. If another dog challenges her, she prefers to avoid conflict and will simply move away.   With Cats   Her reaction to cats has not been observed yet, but a test can be arranged if needed.   Energy Level   Hazel has a low energy level and enjoys spending most of her time resting calmly.   Walks   She has not had much experience outside yet. When something unfamiliar appears, she may tremble out of fear. However, once she forms a strong bond with her person, she tends to follow them closely, which may make walks easier as her confidence grows.   Additional Notes   Hazel does not guard food from either people or other dogs. She currently does not show severe separation anxiety, but because of her hoarding background and strong bonds with the dogs she lived with, some initial adjustment may occur when separated from them.   She rarely barks, although she may bark along if other dogs start barking. She stays calm when placed in a kennel and is currently pad trained. Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org Please also visit our Facebook or Instagram! Story
Min pin mixes. 6 yrs, approx 15 lbs, Beckham and Cooper were adopted as puppies and returned to us as adults.  They are now 6 yrs old.  They were returned because the couple was having a baby. The boys have been with us since and are boarded in a Cagefree facility. After only being with each other for 6 years, we decided to socialize them a little with other dogs.  They are happy and doing great.  They love to go on long walks and hikes.  They are calm  dogs who can be playful. They just need a house with a yard and lots of love.  They have been together since puppyhood and we would like to try to keep them together. It also makes it easy for a new home transition.  Come and meet them!!!   DUE TO COVID ADOPTIONS ARE CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE! MEET AND GREETS AVAILABLE.
