Story
WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.NAME: AndromedaBREED: Miniature PinscherDOB: Sep 29, 2024 (1 year 5 months)HOME RECOMMENDATION: Andromeda is an incredible dog who would thrive in a home with an experienced owner who understands her needs and personality. She would do especially well with someone who has experience with Miniature Pinschers, as they will be familiar with her energy, intelligence, and unique traits. Andromeda would do best in a structured environment where she can continue to learn, stay active, and build a strong bond with her person. With the right owner who can provide guidance, consistency, and love, she will make a loyal, fun, and rewarding companion. Andromeda would do best in a home with a secure backyard or access to a safe outdoor space. Having room to run, explore, and release her energy will be essential for her! PERSONALITY: Andromeda is a very sweet girl and a true lap dog who loves nothing more than being close to her person. She is incredibly affectionate, very attached, and a total cuddle bug who thrives on love and attention. She is naturally skittish and jumpy, and can feel unsure in new situations or around people she doesnt know. Because of this, Andromeda would do best with a patient and experienced owner who understands her sensitivities and can help build her confidence through consistent, gentle training.KIDS: Yes, Andromeda is wonderful with kids and absolutely loves attentionshe enjoys being pet, held, hugged, and showered with love. DOGS: Yes! Andromeda is truly a dogs dog and enjoys the company of other pups. She tends to do best with bigger dogs and has a very playful, curious nature, always ready to engage and explore with her canine companions.CATS: Unknown, but cat test can be done for approved adoptersTRAINING: Andromeda is potty trained to go outside, but she is not very consistent with alerting when she needs to go, so she does best on a regular schedule with frequent potty breaks every few hours. She recognizes the leash and gets very excited when its time to go out, though she would benefit from continued leash training to help her learn better control and focus on walks. She is eager to explore everything around her, so structured exercise and guidance will be important. Andromeda is comfortable with her crate and is trained to go in and out easily; she settles best when the crate is lined with a soft blanket to help her feel safe and cozy.WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Andromeda were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE has recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs - healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects - who are destined to be killed for no reason.Head to WiseAnimalRescue.org to get started on our adoption application. Our adoption areas include: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maine, Vermont, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire.
