Story
This adorable, spunky, silly girl is heartbroken because she has absolutely zero interest from anyone wanting to adopt her. She has now set the record for the longest dog in our foster program. Pachi has been with us for a year and a half and prior to our rescue she had been in a shelter for several months. Pachi is the cutest little dog with the coolest ears. She is much smaller than she appears in her photos. (Under 30lbs). Pachi is a true gem, and we can't explain how lucky her person will be once they find each other. She's shown incredible growth but needs a home with structure and routine to continue to grow. Pachi finds joy in the simple pleasures of life, like chasing a toy or curling up on the couch and loves to share blueberries and bananas for breakfast with her foster mom. Pachi is most comfortable with women but is open to anyone with a soft side. She would do best with an adult-only home, or with older children. Pachi likes to be the center of attention, so no other pets. She is not a fan of felines. Pachi prefers a home with a fenced in yard to run around in. We know that her person/people are out there, but we need your help to find this deserving girl her much deserved forever home. Please share. We would like Pachi to stay within Central PA or if the perfect home is found we would consider someone further away. “Dogs have a way of finding the people who need them and filling the emptiness we didn’t ever know we had.” - Thom Jones

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Kobe is a super sweet, energetic dog and the biggest cuddlebug—he loves snuggling with people as much as he loves playtime. He enjoys to play with other dogs his size. He LOVES his people and LOVES to hide under blankets while he’s getting attention :)  He needs a securely fenced yard where he can run and have fun. :)) REQUIREMENTS: Fenced Yard, Another dog his size  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! Story
Meet Penny: Penny is about a 1 year old (as of August 2026) miniature pinscher mix (best guess) that weighs about 10 pounds. Penny was found as a stray in rural Tennessee. She was taken in by a nearby shelter and after no one claimed her they reached out to us to see if we had a place outside of the shelter for her. Penny is currently being fostered in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families. Penny is an energetic, loving dog that immediately befriends everyone she meets. Penny adapts well and goes with the slow. Penny is affectionate and happy in any lap that is available! Penny gets along with all other dogs in her foster home and is an avid playing partner with anyone willing to play with her. Penny would be a great addition to any family with all age groups. Penny is currently house trained to a doggie door and may need patience while learning a new process. We would love for Penny to have a home with a fenced in yard so she can run and play freely, but it is not a requirement. Penny is up to date on her shots and spayed. If you are interested in an adding this playful love-bug into your life, please go to Charlie’s Crusaders website (www.charliescrusaders.org) to fill out an application. CURRENT LOCATION: Tennessee, awaiting transport to PA ##2811261##

Story
My name is Sparky, but don’t let the name fool you—I’m a mellow 8-year-old, 30-pound sweetheart who believes that the best moments in life are the quiet ones spent snuggled up together. While I might not bounce off the walls like I did when I was a young pup, I do have plenty of love to give and make a fantastic companion for someone looking for a loving, devoted friend. After my family moved and couldn’t take me along, I found myself with a wonderful rescue who have shown me what it’s like to be cherished. Now, I’m ready to share that warmth, loyalty, and affection with my forever family.Routine is my happy place—I like to know what’s coming next and I thrive with gentle guidance. Quick movements (especially from little ones) can make me nervous due to my past, so I’d do best in a home without children. But I get along well with other friendly dogs! In fact, I currently share my foster home with a dog companion, and we get along just fine. As for cats, they’re not really my style, but I wish them well.Couch time and cuddle sessions are absolutely my favorites—I’m at my very best when there’s someone to lean into, whether we’re watching movies or just hanging out. Walks are a nice treat too, but I’ll never ask you to go on a marathon; I just like a gentle stroll and some fresh air.I’m fully house trained, know my basic manners, and always happy to please with a treat. My foster family is helping me work through a bit of separation anxiety, so I’d really love a family who’s around most of the time, preferably in a house with a fenced yard, where I can feel safe and content. If you’re looking for a loving, low-key companion who will adore snuggling by your side and getting cozy with a calm dog sibling, I could be the perfect fit for your family. I promise, you’ll fall in love with my gentle nature and cuddly ways!Interested in meeting me? Visit www.crcpa.org/adoptable-dogs for more about the adoption process. Love always, Sparky.Canine Rescue of Central PAKennel #3443

Story
If interested in Maya, apply here:https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CPAR/DogMaya is a 2 year old, 34 lb Sato with the sweetest expressive face and the cutest little ears that always seem to be listening. A Sato is a Puerto Rican street dog, known for being incredibly resilient, intelligent, and loyal.Maya is still adjusting to life in a home and can be timid with new surroundings at first. Everything is still very new and unfamiliar to her, so she is looking for a patient adopter who will let her decompress at her own pace and continue building confidence. Despite being nervous initially, she is already making wonderful progress in foster care and is beginning to play with the other dogs and show her happy personality. She is fully house trained, leash trained, sleeps quietly in her crate all night, and does great crated while her foster is away. Maya responds very well to treats and is eager to learn. She is also wonderful with kids and enjoys other dogs. She can be a little jumpy when excited, so she is currently working on her manners.Maya is not quite a cuddle bug yet because she is still learning to relax and trust, but underneath it all is a very sweet, happy girl who just needs someone willing to give her time and understanding. Watching shy dogs like Maya blossom is one of the most rewarding experiences, and she is already showing signs of the amazing companion she is going to become.Maya is being fostered in Nottingham, MD.PLEASE READ:Any dog that is house or potty trained will still need patience in a new home with new people and a new schedule. Please be ready to train ANY dog you adopt! Also, please understand we can not guarantee breed or full grown size of any young dog or puppy.Thank you for understanding.
