Hi, my name is China and I would love to meet you. I have been at the shelter since May 28, 2025. Everyone calls me a “Goofball,” I’m not sure what that means but I know it has the word “ball” in it! Bringing a smile to my person’s face is what I do best and I’m ready to make every day as fun as I can. I think I’m the happy, funny pup for you!

Story
Meet Kelly!! Kelly is pure joy. Full of energy and curiosity, she has transformed into a loyal, playful, and deeply intelligent companion. Naturally observant, she picks up on every gesture, every emotion, and responds with the kind of nobility only rescued dogs know. She enjoys every walk with excitement, gets as giddy as a puppy for her treats, and melts for a good belly rub. She loves spending quality time and sharing moments with those she loves. She walks on a leash like a little lady, adores her toys, and wears her dresses and sweaters with charming grace, as if she knows each day is a celebration of her new life. She’s a clever girl, and with a bit of practice, she could learn many tricks—she’s eager to please and loves to surprise.   She gets along well with other dogs and children, rides calmly in the car, and after a fun-filled day, her naps on the couch are a rejuvenating little ritual. From her rough beginnings on the streets to her current life full of hope, Kelly is the living example of resilience and the transformative power of love. Now, she just needs to take that final big step: to find her forever home where she can continue growing, bringing joy, and writing a beautiful new chapter in her story.   What does the dog's ideal home look like? Kelly’s ideal home is one filled with love, patience, and joyful companionship. She would thrive in a home where she can be an active part of daily life — going on walks, playing with her favorite toys, and enjoying quiet moments on the couch with her people.   Because she’s intelligent, observant, and eager to please, she’d do wonderfully with someone who enjoys engaging with their dog through training, games, or simply quality time. Kelly would love a family or individual who treats her as more than a pet — as a true companion.   She gets along well with other dogs and children, making her a great fit for a home with respectful kids or another friendly pup. A calm, loving environment where her sweet nature and resilience are appreciated would be the perfect place for Kelly to continue shining.   She’s ready to give her heart — she just needs the right person or family to give her a forever home in return. What is the dog's rescue story? Kelly is a little dog with a huge heart and an inspiring story of resilience. She was once a stray, with damaged skin, malnourished, and full of fear toward people and other dogs. However, her fate changed when she found refuge in loving hands that offered her food, water, and, above all, affection. Little by little, Kelly learned to trust, and her recovery became a true miracle. Kelly is waiting in Mexico until a family is commited to a 10-day trial with her. If you are interested, apply at www.northwestwagrescue.org her adoption fee is $600 ##2403947##

Story
Meet Maya! This sweet 5-month-old pup is ready to steal your heart Maya is full of puppy energy and joy — she loves to run, play, and explore the world around her. She’s a curious little adventurer who looks forward to her daily walks and is always up for new experiences. She’s also incredibly smart and food-motivated, which makes her a quick learner and a great candidate for training. Whether it’s learning new tricks or just being your loyal sidekick, Maya is eager to please. When she’s not playing with other dogs or discovering new things, Maya is all about snuggles and human connection. She adores being pet and loves spending time with her people. Maya is looking for a loving home where she can continue to grow, learn, and share her sweet, playful spirit. Are you ready to welcome this little ray of sunshine into your life? What does the dog's ideal home look like? Maya's ideal home would be an active and loving environment where she can get plenty of playtime, exercise, and attention. She would thrive in a home with a yard to explore or with a family that enjoys daily walks and outdoor activities. Since she’s very social, Maya would love having other friendly dogs to play with — but she’d also do great as the center of attention in a home where her humans are around often and willing to continue her training.   Because she’s young, smart, and full of energy, a family or individual who can provide structure, consistency, and lots of love would be perfect. Whether it’s an active single person, a couple, or a family with older children, Maya is ready to bring joy and companionship to her forever home. What is the dog's rescue story? Maya was found roaming the streets of the small town of Tequila, Jalisco, searching for food and a bit of kindness. Fortunately, a kind-hearted rescuer saw her and didn’t hesitate to bring her to safety. From that moment on, Maya received the love, care, and attention she had always deserved. Her rescuer made her a promise — that she would never be alone again, and that one day she would have the beautiful forever home she truly deserves. Maya is waiting in Mexico until a family is commited to commiting to a trial. If you are interested, apply at www.northwestwagrescue.org Her adoption fee is $600 ##2403332##

Talk about right place at the right time yet again with our foster mum & for the very cute Mickey. This is another one of those disgusting stories of people letting him down, plus so very sad for Mickey. But in the same breath it was a good thing. Our foster mum was at one of the very high kill shelters in CA rescuing a sweet soul a while ago for us when a lady & her young daughter were surrendering Mickey because they were moving. The daughter was hugging Mickey as he was her as he was terrified & she was so very upset & crying. The daughters mother said they were moving & found a place where there was no dogs allowed so she was dropping him off. They had, had Mickey since he was a young puppy she said. She did not really care for poor Mickey & the daughter was begging for them not to drop him off at the shelter when our foster mum reached out to us so we could help him so he didn’t have to go into the dreaded shelter & possibly not come out of there alive. We are so grateful to have saved Mickey because he is not the dog you see today who was surrendered to us, emotionally or physically. Without our outstanding foster mum this would not of happened & who knows what would of happened to this poor boy because he was clearly mistreated. He was also not medically looked after at all. That was all on our shoulders to take care of. Mickey who is now looking for his very own forever home & who will never give up on him again & dump him & love him just as we do. Mickey was bought back to WA state from CA where we got all of his medical taken care of & he can’t wait to find his loving forever home. How on earth anyone could let Mickey down is beyond us. Especially since the previous people had him for so long, it’s shocking. Mickey just wants to be loved & look look out, once you love him back you will have a new best friend for life. Disturbing to think of what almost happened to him. The level of absolute madness here is so deeply sad for many of these beautiful souls out of CA. Mickey is not the same dog we rescued. It was quite evident that he had been mistreated & was not looked after. His nails were so long we had no idea how he could walk & he was so very untrusting of people in the beginning & was reactive out of fear & what was going to happen to him. Now this boy knows what it’s like to be loved. He is so very sweet & wants you to cuddle him & love him & adore him. In the beginning his new family will just need to go slow with him & not surprise him at all from the back or anything silly. We must say, he loved the little girl in the family & did not want to leave her, of course he didn’t when he was being dumped. He has done so well now with our vets & everyone there. Once we put him into a daycare he has grown so much in confidence wise since being there with the dogs & men he is around. In the daycare he has been around countless breeds of dogs. He is still learning to walk on a leash & is doing well considering. Mickey is a good eater, he loves to eat & put on a few pounds since being rescued. Mickey’s new forever home must have a fully fenced secured backyard for his safety. Mickey has been great with his baths because he started having them with us the moment he was rescued & he was quite filthy when our foster mum originally got him. Mickey rides beautifully in the car & enjoys a good journey & enjoys looking out the window & going places with you. We are looking for a forever home for Mickey where someone is home during the day or he can go with his people wherever possibly he can go with them. We are also looking for a crate free home for the little lad only. Mickey is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved & be patient with him. Mickey has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & he is currently with other dogs & was fostered in CA with other dogs & does well with them & enjoys their company. He can be the king of the home or there can be other dogs in the home. Mickey is roughly 3 years old & 13 lbs & is perhaps a miniature pincher, but what he is mixed with we are not sure at all. He is male, neutered by laser by our wonderful vets. Mickey is heart worm negative, had a dental scale & polish & dental x-rays. He is microchipped, given flea treatment, up to date on his shots, including DHLPP, Bordatella, CIV, rabies & dewormed. We have spent far more on Mickey, with all of his medical care than his adoption fee comes close to even covering, his neuter by laser, all of his shots, dental/scale & polish, boarding fees, testing him for heart worm, microchip, transport fees bringing him back to WA state, etc. Mickey has been around cats since being in the rescue in his foster home & could care less about the cat in his foster home but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together. We have not had him around small children in the rescue so we do not recommend small children nor cats & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children. We were not there when Mickey was conceived so we do not know who both his parents were, but it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is. As with all of our rescues & Mickey’s friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Mickey potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Mickey has been through many traumas in his short time on this earth so when applying this needs to be kept in mind & for his care. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Mickey & going through our process and have read his listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit due to covid & followed by a meet and greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Mickey who understands his needs & that meet all the requirements for this beautiful soul of a lad. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Mickey has an adoption fee of $885 & his adoption fee does not come close to what we have spent on this beautiful boy. Mickey is ready for his truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what he has been through.

Story
It took a few days at my new foster home to warm up, but now that I feel safe my Min Pin is showing. I am potty trained and can walk on a leash. I am crate trained and will sleep all night with no issues. I'm quiet and just want to hang out with my humans. I can be a bit territorial with my bed and crate and even thought I'm only 9lbs, the pack knows not to mess with the power of a Min Pin. Car rides can be a bit scary for me if I'm not in a kennel. If my human leaves me, I do cry to be taken along unless I'm left in my crate. The cats here don't seem to want to play with me even when I bark and wag my tail at them. I do get along with my foster pack as long as they stay away from my stuff. I would be perfect for someone looking for a dog with a smaller dwelling, like a townhome, condo, or apartment.
