Story
🐾 Meet Preston – The Doodle with a Heart of Gold! 🐾 Preston is an 8-month-old Doodle mix (our best guess is Poodle with Golden or Lab) who is as sweet as he is handsome. This fun-loving boy is full of personality, with a playful spirit and a smart mind that’s always ready to learn. Preston spent a good portion of his early puppyhood in a backyard, but he has adjusted incredibly well to life inside a home. He has taken to crate training very nicely and has been doing well overall in the house. With a little consistency and continued guidance, he is only going to keep improving. He is a social pup who enjoys the company of other dogs, especially ones who like to play as much as he does. Preston has also been great with the kids in his foster home and is learning quickly that keeping all four paws on the ground is the way to go when greeting people. Preston is a smart boy who thrives with structure, attention, and positive reinforcement. In a home that is committed to giving him the time, love, and training he deserves, he is going to make an absolutely incredible companion. As a Doodle mix, Preston will likely need regular grooming to keep his coat healthy and looking its best, so his future family should be prepared for routine trips to the groomer. Preston is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines and preventions. 💲 $350 Local Adoption Fee (in Texas) 🚐 $650 Out of State Adoption Fee (includes transport to your area) If you are looking for a playful, loving, and loyal pup to add to your family, Preston might be your perfect match. 🐶💛

Story
Elliana They gave me a fancy name at last! Can you believe it? I have been used as a breeder dog for years and years and then dumped at the local pound with a mammary gland tumor that you could play tennis with!! Who does that!!! At least that is what my foster mom thinks my life has been like. I sat there in a cage at animal control for 4 weeks before anyone would think about pulling me out of there but my foster mom said that she had to take me home so that I would have a chance to be a beloved pet before I die. Not that I am planning to do that anytime soon, but you never know. Anyhow, I went to the vet right away and had that big nasty thing taken off my stomach and the vets knew right away what it was and what it was from. They took out the baby making bits as well, so I won’t have to go through having my babies and then losing them right away to being just a baby and money making factory for somebody. Sheesh….get a job!! I have some issues, I won’t lie, but I am starting to kind of get used to being out of a cage, where I learned to circle around and around as there wasn’t a lot of space in those things. I can walk in a straight line and the more I get time outside, the more I am enjoying the fresh air and smells in the grass. I will revert to circles when I am nervous but Rome wasn’t built in a day and I have only had freedom for a couple of months now. I don’t have many teeth, as the ones I did have were rotted and broken from trying to eat the bars I suppose. I startle easily from the lack of being held and loved in my former life, and will try to “gum” you if I pick me up too quickly. But speaking to me and touching me before you pick me up will let me know you are there and going to be gentle with me. I am still getting used to the being held part, and sometimes can’t tolerate it very long, but I am learning and going slow is really helpful to me. I am learning what good food tastes like, and what a soft bed feels like, and while I have pretty limited vision to see things, I can follow my nose and it helps me to find everything I need to get around. Foster mom leaves me a puppy pad to potty on in the house if I have to go at night, and I am pretty good at using it. It took a while to figure out that is what it was for, but also, if I potty outside after meals, I am good if I keep to a schedule. So that is my story. If you are interested in giving a blind old lady a soft landing for the rest of my life, let me know. Local adoption in Texas only please.

Story
Hi, I’m Hot Cross Buns! I’ve been doing really well in my foster home and everyone says I’m a total sweetheart. I love being around people and other dogs, and I’m happiest when I can lean in close for hugs and soak up all the attention. I settled in very quickly—I already knew how to use stairs, go into my crate on my own, and I’ve been doing great with my potty habits. I enjoy a nice routine that includes several walks each day, relaxing on the couch, and spending time with my favorite humans. I’ve been very friendly with everyone I’ve met, including new people and other dogs, and I love being part of the action. I can feel a little nervous at first or when left alone, but I warm up quickly and keep gaining confidence every day. I’d love a home that can give me companionship, structure, and plenty of affection—I promise I’ll repay you with lots of hugs and love.

Story
✨Meet Nina!✨ Nina is a 5-year-old Miniature Poodle mix who came into us as a surrender from a commercial breeding facility (aka Puppy Mill) in Lancaster County. Nina had a very difficult life before coming to us, being used as a mill mama her entire life. She is shut down at this time but is slowly starting to give us her trust. We are confident she will make a wonderful family member for a very lucky family, who understands her past and gives her the time she needs to trust them and her new surroundings. Nina loves other animals, and will thrive in a home with at least one other dog. Adopting a puppy mill survivor is life-changing—for you and them. For these dogs, everything is new and often overwhelming: people, houses, stairs, leashes, food bowls, collars, toys, TVs, ovens, doorways, pavement…the list goes on. They need adopters who can move slowly, be patient, keep expectations reasonable, and provide the understanding and tools they need to grow into happy, confident companions. Patience, positive reinforcement, and understanding are key! We promise there is nothing that compares to gaining the love and trust of a mill mama, but it requires intentional effort and commitment from their new family. With the right guidance, puppy mill survivors can blossom into well-socialized, joyful dog- so our goal is always to ensure every adopter is fully prepared to give them the life and environment they need to truly thrive! If you are interested in being considered for them please apply on our website at www.angelsretreat.org 💕🐾 Angel’s Retreat West Chester, PA PA Kennel License 17335
