Please contact Darlene at 302-312-5129 (fureverpawsdogrescue@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.  This dog is located in Newark, DE. Visit us on the web at https://fur-everpaws.com/fur-ever-paws-adoption-application/ to submit an application. Please contact the foster directly at 302-312-5129 (text or call) or via email at fureverpawsdogrescue@gmail.com Fur Ever Paws Dog Rescue is a small no kill rescue operating in the Delaware/Maryland area. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit that rescues and places homeless, neglected or abused dogs from high-kill shelters in the south into loving, responsible committed and permanent homes. We feel our comprehensive adoption process which includes not only taking the time to match the dog to the prospective new owner but helping to educate that owner in responsible dog care, allows us to find the best homes for our little buddies and the best companions for you! Each week we use USDA certified transports to bring dogs from high-kill shelters in the south to our fosters where they all receive the appropriate medical care and are placed in nurturing loving homes while they await placement in their forever homes. Interested in one of our dogs? Great! Now that you've seen them here you'll need to go to our website where you'll find our list of adoptable dogs (updated every week). Then, it's just a simple process of finding a dog you're interested in and filling out an application on our site. Once we receive your application, whoever is fostering that particular dog will contact you and do a short over the phone interview to complete your application process. If everything works out, they will set an appointment with you so come out and "visit" with the dog you're interested in (we want to make sure that not only are you a good fit for the dog but that the dog will fit with you). If everything works out, you'll be able to take rover (or spot, or jax) home with you that very day. A couple of things you should know: We can't hold dogs over the phone or via email. Adoption fees vary based on breed. All of our dogs have been vet checked and dewormed (if possible due to age, additional treatment may be needed). We provide a spay or neuter voucher to all of our adopters. &#226&#128&#139 April 25, 2024, 9:51 pm

Story
Meet cookie she is one of the poodles we rescued from the puppy-mill. Cookie is 6 years old and she weighs 12lbs. She was a mill momma most of her life. When she came to our rescue she was really shut down and scared. She is still working on trusting humans, she will sit on your lap and let you pet her for a little bit before she jumps off (which is progress). She absolutely loves dogs of all sizes. She went to the vet and was tested for hw and Lymes disease and was negative! She did have an ear infection which is treated with antibiotic ear drops. She also received her updated vaccines. She is spayed and had dental work done to remove her infected teeth last month. Cookies perfect home would have another dog she can learn from to teach her not all humans are bad. Cookie isn't ready for adoption until after her spay and dental work at the end of the month. but if you are interested in adopting her please send us a message and we will send you an application.

Story
SANDY is a 7 yr old Miniature Poodle (14 lbs) who spent her life producing puppies for an Amish farmer.  She is very shy, and we suspect she lived her life in a cage with little or no positive interaction with humans. Sandy is wonderful with other dogs though and is fine with cats. She is very flighty and needs a safe home to decompress with patient pet parents. At this time, we feel that she would be best in an adult only home with a securely fenced yard. Sandy is scheduled to be spayed on April 11 and will have a dental cleaning at the same time. She has had her pre-surgical bloodwork and is started on vaccines. She will also be micro chipped and heartworm tested at her appointment. We are accepting applications for Sandy at www.companimals.org. Adoption $400. April 23, 2024, 10:14 am

Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about within an hour of Wilmington, DE for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Flora! Flora is a 6-year-old, 18 lb. Poodle mix who was rescued and brought to a shelter as part of a cruelty investigation. Partially paralyzed and suffering from chronic infections, this sweet girl needed a second chance. Flora was treated for her skin infections and a UTI. She had an extensive orthopedic workup, and it was determined that she will most likely not regain the use of her back legs. That being said good luck keeping up with this pup! Flora loves her wheelchair and zooms around in it every chance she gets. She can also scoot herself around the house with no problems. Flora is able to go to the bathroom without assistance but does wear a diaper. It will need to be changed several times a day. Paralyzed pups can be more prone to UTIs, so good hygiene is important and there may be some extra trips to the vet. (She does great at the vet) To help prevent urinary infections, Flora takes supplements and probiotics that cost $45 a month. Due to her sad start in life, Flora tends to be wary of new people and experiences. She will give a bark and try to leave the room. If her family goes slow with her, and lets her take her time, Flora will thrive. She is good with other dogs and would do best in a quieter home with no small children. Flora loves to be cuddled, picked up, and play with toys. She is happy sleeping in a dog bed and can play independently as well. One look in those big, brown eyes and your heart will melt. All Flora needs is a family that sees how special she is, and that a little extra work is nothing compared to the love she will give you in return. Please apply today!

Story
Dutton is being fostered in PA. He is making good progress with housebreaking! Dutton is a sweet, gentle, slightly timid little man who is going to make a wonderful addition to some lucky family. He is very easy-going and loves to sit with his person. His transformation since first coming into his foster home has been remarkable! He was able to get into the vet quickly to have a dental with about 10 teeth removed and then, after a little recovery time, a much needed double enucleation, which means his eyes were removed. As he recovered, a completely different personality began to appear. Instead of being shut down and not reacting to verbal interactions, he started following his foster mom around the house, sniffing and exploring his environment and even barking when meals were being prepared. Dutton is happy to sleep in a dog bed on the floor but really enjoys a lap so hopefully his new family will like to cuddle. Dutton has many foster siblings, male and female dogs, big and small, and he is very indifferent with all of them. He also shows no interest in the two cats he lives with. Dutton eats kibble soaked in water and he has a super appetite. He is ok in the car and does better traveling in a dog bed with sides to help him feel secure. His foster mom works full time and part time jobs which works for Dutton since he is a great nap-taker, but he cannot make it several hours without pottying in the house. He is kept in the kitchen where it's ok if he has an accident. He certainly understands that being outside means it's potty time. It's anticipated that if Dutton is able to have a potty break every 3-4 hours he will catch on quickly to eliminating outside. He has actually shown subtle signs indicating that he has to go that his foster mom is just picking up on. This boy deserves a loving forever home with a ton of one on one time. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Angel's Retreat recently took in 12 small breeder dogs from a mill that was shutting down. All of these dogs are small adults ranging from 3-7yrs old. These ladies have never lived in a home before and will need lots of love and TLC. They are not house trained. Most of them need extensive dental surgery as well as spays which will be covered by the rescue, but may require you to bring your adopted dog back to the rescue after adoption. These sweet girls deserve a second chance at life. If you can provide a quiet and loving home to one of these angels please apply at www.angelsretreat.org.
