Story
At Bailey's last checkup, the vet said that if we didn't know her age, she'd guess she was only 6 or 7! She's 12. Apparently, nobody has told Bailey she's supposed to slow down! Bailey is as sweet and gentle as they come, so she may be a little shy at first until she knows she's safe. This little girl is probably one of the quietest pups you'll ever meet - a perfect work from home buddy during those conference calls!  Bailey lives for her walks and keeps up a good clip the whole way.  When she's not speedwalking the neighborhood, she likes to snuggle up in her open crate. That's her safe space and her foster parents have made it nice and cozy for her. When bedtime rolls around, she'd prefer her own comfy bed in your room, rather than share yours. The basics: 12 years old, 15 pounds Housebroken Crate is her happy place (door open) Gets along with all the dogs in her foster home Lives with a bully cat, and is only slightly traumatized by it Deaf or nearly deaf Scheduled for a dental on 10/27 and ready to go home after that Bailey was surrendered by her owner through no fault of her own. She needs an active person who wants a walking buddy, and a calm home where she can settle in and learn she's safe.  Bailey will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. If you have a grooming reference, please include with your application.  Have more questions about Bailey? Story
Application Link: https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/ARH-A-334 Adoption fee is $445 All dogs are fixed, up-to-date on age appropriate shots and micro-chipped Mai Li may be as much as 8 years old but could be younger. She came in very sick and was aged older because of her behavior at that time. I am going to be very particular about her new owner. She has a slight cataract or could be an eye ulcer in her left eye. She can see well enough to chase the big dogs when they annoy her, now that she feels better, and catch them by the tail. She will be fixed and get a dental done before adopted which her adoption fee will not come close to covering. She sleeps beside me in bed, she follows me everywhere, she is a great smuggler, doesn't care about other dogs as long as they are respectful of her space and only started barking recently now that she feels comfortable in the home. She has had puppies. She is gorgeous and came in with the most ridiculous haircut. I don't know how the person that dumped her could trim her in a mohawk, leave her in grinch feet and punk out her hair with hair gel and then just leave her on the street to fend for herself. This dog speaks to your soul, you just have to stop for half a second to listen.

Story
Say hello to Fozzie Bear (aka Fuzz Bucket or FB), a fuzzy half sheep, half muppet dog who’s 95 percent the sweetest boy and 5 percent a spicy little turd. Fozzie is about 8.5 years old and around 10 pounds, and we think he’s probably a Poodle mix of some kind (maybe Poodle-Shih Tzu?). He came into rescue after his owner passed away. Fozzie is mostly a typical dog who loves to go on walks and play with toys. He enjoys running around in the yard, but a home without a fenced yard wouldn’t be a deal-breaker as long as he got enough on-leash time outside. He seems to be fully house trained and hasn’t had a single accident in his foster home. What he needs more than anything is a home with patience. Fozzie’s biggest challenge is that he’s got some guarding behaviors, so he can get a little snippy under specific circumstances, like when he’s laying next to one person on the couch, and another person tries to pet him or get him off the couch. His evil twin also sometimes shows up at the groomer or the vet, and occasionally around food if other dogs enter his personal space. His little outbursts are relatively few and far between as long as he stays on his medications (fluoxetine and trazodone), and outside of the occasional tiff with the house dogs, he’s done pretty well with all of them. He desperately wants to be friends with the house Chihuahua, but she’s also a bit of a turd and so that hasn’t worked out so well for Fozzie. She’s toothless and still manages to boss him around somehow. Despite his imperfections, Fozzie is a wonderful little dog with a ton of love to give. Here’s what we think he needs in a new home to be successful: - An adult-only home. We think children won’t have the maturity to understand that dogs are allowed to have boundaries, too. - A home where someone is around most of the time. Fozzie can be an insecure little fella, and being alone too long stresses him out. He’s never been destructive in any way, even with run of the house, but he’s not the kind of dog who would be happy or comfortable being home alone for 8 or 10 hours several days a week. - A home with dog experience that is willing to work with and around his quirks. Fozzie and his previous owner worked very successfully with a trainer, so he’s definitely trainable. His foster mom and dad have found him totally manageable! - A home without other dogs OR with other dogs his size. We could see his mouth writing checks his butt can’t cash with larger dogs. If there are other dogs in the home, intros should be slow, and ideally, he could be kept somewhere separate while the humans are away just in case. If you love cute, curly little dogs and are ready for the most rewarding challenge ever, Fozzie Bear is your man! ———————————————————- The adoption donation for Fozzie Bear is $250. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention (age appropriate). If you would like to meet this dog, you must have an approved application on file and be willing to travel to the Mahoning County/Columbiana County, Ohio area for a meet and greet. All of our dogs reside in foster homes. We do not have a physical shelter. Applications will be reviewed/approved and each dog will be placed in the home that can best meet their individual need. If you live in a residence with a Homeowner’s Association (HOA) please make sure you check that the dog you are interested in does not violate size or breed restrictions. A successful adoption is our goal. Submitting an application does not guarantee adoption of any dog. We require you call your established veterinarian asap to schedule a wellness visit. —————————- Our applications can be found by clicking on the “adoption application” link at https://apaprescue.com Our primary form of communication is email.
