Are you looking for a snowy white friend? How about a dog with a new lease on life, a playful attitude, and the cutest little face?
If so, then look no further! Meet Newt! Newt is 4-year-old, 12lbs, mini poodle looking for the right family to take him in!
Let's address the elephant in the room first: Newt is deaf and a little visually impaired. Despite his genetic complications, Newt has proven to be a go-getter who is ready to make a better life for himself! Newt is a determined little pup who wants to play with the other dogs in every way possible. Newt is ready to run, adventure, and rumble! He loves to play in a fenced in backyard and he is known to find all the mud and burrs in his foster family's yard.
Newt is great with human adults, he does well with the kids in his neighborhood that like to come and pet him, and loves other small dogs. Newt also doesn't mind cats at all, but mostly ignores them. You would have never known about Newt's rough upbringing if you met him. He is pretty outgoing, vocal, and playful! He is yet to play with real dog toys, but he likes sticks and leaves.
Newt is crate trained, but he is not potty trained or leash trained. He is trainable though and has made progress in both the potty training and leash training portions (he used to hate the leash, and while his tolerance is getting better, he still isn't quite ready for a walk). Newt has had issues with marking, but with the use of belly bands, training, and neutering, his marking issues have improved quite a bit. Newt also may not be apartment suitable due to his desires to bark (or chirp like a bird), but he will settle down quite quickly. Newt just really wants to make his feelings known.
In general, Newt may not be able to listen, but he is ready to prove that he is willing to learn!

All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
